Playing Card Plethora / Re: New DECK Cards of Legend
« on: November 03, 2012, 02:22:08 PM »
My brother and I came up with this exact idea for a deck of cards about a year ago... We just couldn't be arsed to do anything with it.
And that's precisely why we're getting two decks each!

Edit:
In fact, I just found a quote from back in April on another thread about the earlier version of this deck;
Haha, dang! Me and my brother were discussing designing a deck just like this! Although, of course, we wouldn't have been able to sell it either...

Wow, those are some seriously cool prizes.
Of course, I'm looking to get the 50,000 prize. Those Jerry's are calling out to me!
And yeah, I was thinking the same as Nathan - will there still be the unlimited automatic prizes?

Hey, I'm sorry that the DB people aren't getting back in touch with you.  Have you tried in writing?

I just left an email with a contact there.  I'll get back to you.

Thanks, Don. I would have tried to contact them in writing, but I can't find an address on the website. If you have it, then it would help a lot.

Good to hear! And yeah, I guess that does make sense. xD
Good luck with it!

A very late but none the less very sincere congratulations, Don! You've really done a brilliant job. I couldn't think of anyone who deserves this more than you.

Hey Don, can I get a set of the WalMart bicycles?
Also, I'm just wondering if you have any other standard bikes that aren't quite standard, if you know what I mean? For instance, RTGs, vintage standards and that kind of thing. I've temporarily narrowed my collection down to just trying to get a collection of lots of different standard decks.
Thanks!

Wow. Can I just say thanks a lot, Don, for continuing this thread. Sorry I left in such a hurry!
But you've done an amazing job with it - a lot better than I ever did!
Is it okay if I leave you taking care of this thread?

Well, I gave them a certain amount of time to wait for international shipping, and then once I thought it was enough, I emailed them and allowed a certain amount of time for them to reply before sending another, and by the time I realised they weren't ever going to reply, it was past the claim-back period. And I definitely gave them the right address.
But thanks, it's nice to be back!

Introduce Yourself / 'Sup, Guys?

Hey, I'm Lushbob. Some of you may remember me from such months as December, January, and February.
So yeah, some of you guys will remember me. I kind of, unexpectedly disappeared. Schoolwork was really catching up with me, and it still is! I've got massively important exams starting in two weeks that last for the next two months, but after that I'm really going to try and become an active member of this community again.
I love cards, and I realise that I can still show a huge interest in them while refraining from buying any. See, I bought the David Blaine Variety Box for $150 (and then some more for international postage), and it never turned up. It's past the time that I can reclaim the money through PayPal, and the DB shop aren't replying to any of my emails either. That's when I realised that I'd blown £100+ on nothing. So, I cut down my spending so much that cards were totally out of the picture. And then I stopped checking AetherCards to stop tempting myself, and after I hadn't been on for a while it was really hard to start again. But I'm going to make an effort, and it'll be my summer holidays so I should have a lot of time to kill.

Wow. That was longer than I expected. Basically, I won't be collecting cards as much as I used to, but in a few weeks I hope you'll all see me back on here and more active.
Oh, and I'll be breaking my no-buying rule in the case of the Seasons decks.  ;)

 Peace out!

Playing Card Plethora / Re: Aether Cards Second Deck; Harlequin Series
« on: April 28, 2012, 07:04:23 PM »
Yeah, I'd like an idea of the date too, if that's okay.
And it's nice to hear that you'll be spending a lot of time on the design of the Harlequin - I definitely don't mind waiting longer if it means that the deck turns out perfectly.
I'm also guessing the process will be a bit more straightforward that you've already used Kickstarter.

Playing Card Plethora / Re: Galvanic Deck, Who's Pledged?
« on: February 17, 2012, 05:56:06 PM »
If I'm honest, I don't overly like the court cards. It's the back of the cards that I like. I'm not sure why, I just absolutely adore it. And that's why I'll be pledging for one deck as soon as my brother's home from New York.

16
Yeah, I agree with you guys. I don't like the tuckbox, but I love the idea of all the backs being different colours. No doubt I'll pledge for at least one copy of this deck.

17
I'm also curious about the Galvanic deck.  Will it have  the Bicycle name on the front of the tuckbox?

Here's the picture he posted a link to on the facebook page for the deck:

But if the project hits $20,000 then the Bicycle name will be taken off the deck.

« on: February 16, 2012, 05:17:10 PM »
Ah, how I wish I had as many interesting vintage decks as you!
It's really interesting to see a regular Bicycle deck with High Finish. Or really, anything other than Air-Cushion. Any information on the finish itself, and why the change to Air-Cushion? Or are they two different names for the same thing?
Certainly a few nice finds!

Yeah, I agree with what many others have said before me - having a list with all the decks on it would be great.

Playing Card Plethora / Re: Which 3 of the 52 are your favourite and Why?
« on: February 16, 2012, 02:58:41 PM »
Can you add the option to change your vote? I voted ace of clubs instead of ace of spades...
Ace of spades - For obvious reasons! Also, the main fact is that it usually has the most artwork on the face of the card, in comparison to any other card in the deck.
Four of hearts - Four is my lucky number, and it just seems that whenever I cut a deck, the four of hearts happens to pop up. But I guess it's all psychological, eh?
King of hearts - The Suicide King! First card that I was taught that had a certain significance.

Aw, come on! I literally ordered two of these decks a couple days before they dropped in price. It's weird that they reward people who wait it out on buying the decks they're selling.
So, I had to pay full price for these, when you lucky guys get them at less than a dollar each!

I'm looking to get a couple of the $1 decks, I'm just waiting to get some feedback from Josh on international shipping.

Playing Card Plethora / Re: How Long Have YOU Been Collecting?
« on: February 15, 2012, 09:01:59 PM »
I started collecting just over two and a half years ago. But I haven't been actively purchasing decks for that long - I didn't buy any decks for at least a year in the middle of that.
And the first deck I got (collection-wise, so not including generic decks I got previously) was a red rider back deck. It was the first deck I'd ever got that actually handled well. I was amazed, so started buying a few more Bicycles, then it grew from there. Unfortunately, I lost the cards for that deck while moving house although for some insane reason I still have the tuckbox for them. Although, I still have the cards and tuckbox for my second deck (a blue rider back).

A Cellar of Fine Vintages / Re: 8 minutes to get your super cheap V-slims!

I love Virginia Slims. I'll be getting a deck from Alex soon, and I already have an opened deck of each colour. I'm hoping to get some sealed ones soon.
It's great, if you just check eBay every now and then, new auctions for Virginia Slims pop up all over the place.

Playing Card Plethora / Re: Custom Seals
« on: February 11, 2012, 04:28:51 PM »
If we're judging a custom seal as anything other than the regular black/blue USPCC seals, then I have a couple more:

Pseudo custom seals - White Ghost (all white USPCC seal), Tetra 4 Way Fanning Deck (all white USPCC seal), Eco Edition (green USPCC seal).
Other custom seals - 125th Anniversary Deck, one edition of the Pink Ribbon Edition decks, charity:water and Bee "Watermelon" RJRTC.

These are just the ones that I have in my collection with custom seals - I have no doubt there are other ones that haven't been mentioned.
