Very curious to see how it turns out when it is finally printed. Not a huge fan, but definitely not the worst deck design out there. I agree with Lara about the asian styled decks out there, seems to be a lot. Since I am somewhat of a picky buyer, these oriental types of decks I tend to pit against each other and choose from there... so they have to be pretty spectacular for me to purchase them at the moment.

Well the east has always had this mystical and mysterious appeal to the western culture. So there is a lot of material to work with when choosing an Asian themed anything.  you have to admit that Asian dragons are far sexier than the western ones.  :)

I havn't been disappointed with the Asian-themed decks that have come out so far.

I think the only biggest downside that this deck might have is the one way back. because we all know how majority of our populace prefer two back back designs. For me. I kind of like the one way of this. Since I don't really do magic or anything it doesn't really matter for me. :)

Feedback + Support / Just a Suggestion - Back to Top button

Just a suggestion.

I don't know if its just me, but I think we should have one of those floating buttons at the side near the scroll bar that allow the page to jump "BACK TO TOP" without having to scroll up. You know kind of like the tumblr "Jump to top" button. Of course that's just one person's suggestion. What do you guys think?

Is there a rise of Asian Themed decks?
Its not a bad thing I'm just loving it all!! I'm such a patriotic asian person. :)

Takefu is a Japanese word because I speak chinese and there is no "takefu" word in Chinese unless its a dialect.

The joker is a warrior with a Naginata as a weapon. So in all probability its a Japanese inspired deck. The dragon design is hard to say. Because it looks like the dragon in Dragon Ball. :) but then again this kind of dragon is both Chinese and Japanese.

in the middle of the dragon in th back design I see 2 Kanji or chinese characters but I can't make the calligraphy out.

I can read the "生" which means Student or  Birth in Chinese. But in Japanese this character means Raw, Crude, Pure,
The first Character I can't quite make out because the ink is all over the place but if I'm not mistaken it might be this charater "武" which is the Chinese for Fierce, or martial (as in martial arts) this is also the first character for WUSHU a Chinese martial arts.

Then again the first character might also be "龙" which is the character for Dragon.

so 龙生 together might be the best choice "birth of the dragon" or "dragon's purity" There is no real translation to it.

**sigh** my Chinese is really rusty.

YEAY! New DB to add to the DB collection! ^-^ .
I loved the White Lions a lot because of the design and durability. And since Don and Zenneth and Evan has put in a lot of positive notes on this deck specially it not being USPC. I'm really wanting to buy a few!

This is what I love about the forums! You get so many opinions for various people making life easier when figuring out whether you want to get the deck or not.

90
Yeap This photo IS just a greyscale version. If you take a look at the gradient on the the background of the Bicycle Logo.

And I was agreeing with you that the deck most likely is in color. I also went on to say that grey-scaled decks look boring, and I doubt USPCC would put something through like that.

P.S. - The "dragon" reference just slipped by mind. When reading your post, I knew it was a griffin, but my mind skipped over it when I was posting. It looks like a dragon, though, doesn't it?

P.P.S. - This deck reminds me of Harry Potter! :)) Griffindor!

Penalty of 10 points to  the house of KPopFever :)

Design & Development / Re: Sishou Deck Design - Updated Jan 6th
« on: January 06, 2013, 08:30:10 PM »
the second character is 獸 and its "shou".
hence the word SiShou.

Btw what do you guys think about the now two way back design?
and anyone of you know what I should do for the gaff cards?

I'm loving the new two way back design much better than the one way back. :)

OI agree with Don. Put a double backer there. Since you have two versions of the deck.
A Joker reveal it also good too.

You can also think up of something totally original. Since your design will have just enough details to put something that is uniquely yours (although I dunno what that is at the moment because I literally just woke up and my brain is not working).

---update---

I was looking at the spine of the box of the SiShou and you can read it upside down as nouhsis. I don't think you meat for it to be readable uspide down. Just letting you know. :)

Heya Scott,

I haven't been doing magic in about 2 years now :) but before I always love doing Self working tricks. and Story telling effects. And of course the classic ACR routine. :) I wasn't very good at magic which is why i always chose self working ones.

Change it to Justin Beiber. :) Or Edward Cullen.

Yes Beijing is FREEZING... tai lung!

Im loving the Teal version! its like mellow porcelain.
But the red one is super classic chinese. And what is the second chinese character in the middle of the back design. I can only read "si" but I'm assuming that the other character is the word for beats but I dunno the hanyu to it.

Are those bullet holes with smoke coming out of them?
at first I thought they were jelly fish ^_^

What is your inspiration for your deck design? I always love knowing about the reson behind a design I think it helps the designer and the other people understand it more and appreciate it more.

Oh you should read one of my older posts that may help in case you get stuck somewhere

Fabulous design as always Randy! For some reason I feel like I want to eat the eggs in that deck. They look like chocolate eggs that they sell here in China. YUM!

sorry i know my reply wasn't helpful at all I really just wanted to say how much it looks delicious...

OMG! I live in Beijing ad this is by far one of the more ORIENTAL looking decks that are dubbed to be Asian -inspired!
I love the fact that you are going to incorporate the Phoenix, Dragon, Tiger, and Tortoise to this design! I am a fan of the 4 mythical beasts of china! If I am not mistaken there is a 5th mythical beast which is the huang Long or the yellow dragon.

This is a deck I am definitely going to add to my must buy!!!

So stoked! I'm not going to add on to what everyone already said about the boarders and the back design.

But I really feel strongly against the indice. The "7" upside down looks like a "4" e might want to rethink the indice design. :P

I have to really say I'm loving the THEME of this deck! ***faints***

xoxo
