The Conversation Parlor / Bilangual packs value.
« on: November 17, 2022, 08:30:56 AM »
Does having a bilangual pack affect the value of a deck? I brought 2 regular pack of bicycle cards somewhere in special, when I got home I realise that those decks were printed back in 2010 and to my surprise when I opened one of them,  I also saw that they came with the guaranteed joker. Does that kind of deck have any special value?

Contrary to the popular belief most numerical playing cards are different depending on wich direction they are pointing, with the exeption of the diamonds due to the nature of the shape of the diamonds, but even there it's possible to locate the direction that the 7 of diamond is pointing by locating what I call the 5 rows versus the 4 rows. As for the other numerical suits it's possible to identify wich side the card is by looking at the suit in the middle row, however their is 3 exeptions, the 2's, 4 and 10's, them, unless they are marked it's impossible to tell if the card is in the "right" position or "upside down".

The Conversation Parlor / Montreal very own classic card game.
« on: March 18, 2020, 04:04:56 PM »
This game is the card game that can be play as well in a grandma house or in a jail house in Montreal, I wont go into specific on how this game is played cause for anyone interested they will have to come in montreal to find out.  I'm talking about the game named asshole once translated from french to english. Number of players 4, full deck plus jokers. Players ranks in the first round are drawn by the highest card aces to the lowest 2's. Ranks, President, Vice President, Secretary and the Asshole. Goal of the game, for the president to remain president and the rest is to get rank. To win, the one who get rid of his cards first, the last one remain the asshole and has to shuffle for the next round, very competitive card gane no matter where it is played.

The Conversation Parlor / Crazy 8 variations.
« on: February 23, 2020, 01:06:38 AM »
Even if crazy 8 is not my second favorite card game it is still the card game that I have played the most after poker. Why? Easy to setup from 2 players and up and easy to include brand new players after two or three games. One thing I found out a couple of years ago is that the variation of crazy 8 that most people know and play in montreal is nowhere to be found on the internet elsewhere. Our variation look like this, joker's goes on any suit next player pick 5 cards, 2's next player pick 2 cards 2 of spade pick 4 cards. Aces, you can get rid of any same suit in your hand. 10's change rotation, jack's next player skip turn and 8's is the same, you can put on any suit and change the suit. Do some of you guys play crazy 8 with a different set of rules?
