Interesting idea Don.

I was thinking more of a discount on the cost of the cards themselves. I've always found John at Acekingcards to be incredibly helpful and willing to negotiate.
I'm sure that if we were to offer to order exclusively from one dealer and to order a minimum Quantity per order, i'm sure they'd be willing to do something/ Even if it was only .10c to .15c of each deck. every little helps.

2
Would it be worth contacting some of the better known US resellers? For example Aceking, the1eyedjack and BMpokerworld to see if they'd be willing to offer discounts for larger orders?

3
I had a similar idea a couple  of years back but didn't really know how to go about it. the framework you've laid out seems like a good start building a network of UK collectors would also be good for future sales or Trades.

Oh, and I'll take a black jaqk if theres one going

Playing Card Plethora / How difficult is it

For you to decide what decks to take with you if you're going away for a break.I'm going to stayvwith family for a few days and I know I'll hear, "Show us a trick"  anyway, decks I'm taking are:
Aurum
Ritual Gold
Ghost Svengali
Ghost stripper
Blue Crown Svengali
Moonshine my new favorite!
Blue Crown Luxury
Necronomicon
That funny Devo deck with no faces. Can't remember the name lol!
Obviously they are not all magic decks!
So yeah what decks do you take away with you?

There are no absolutely Must have decks. There only decks that you like. If you only want to have decks in your collection that other people think are worth owning then maybe you should look at why you are collecting?

Playing Card Plethora / Re: Luxury Deck by The Blue Crown

Wow! my luxury decks were waiting for me when I got home from work today. Now, I love the crown decks and have every version, but when I opened the package I got that excited feeling I used to get when new decks arrived. I think I've bought so many decks over the last year that that feeling has become diluted.
Anyway the first thing I noticed was the metallic Blue foil followed by the faux leather patterned box, I like the fact that there's nothing on the back of the box.
The cards themselves don't disappoint either and they handle brilliantly.
The only thing that concerned me was the seal. First edition?

Anyway I'd like to thank TBC and Randy for giving me back that warm tingly new deck feeling!!!!

I've pledged for two decks, I'm in the UK and personally have no problem paying $8 to ship a package roughly 3500 miles.

Playing Card Plethora / Re: Could This Replace the Deck Clip?
« on: January 04, 2013, 03:53:12 PM »
I've pledged for one though I might try building my own!!!

The European wallet is 11.6cm by 8.7cm Which is slightly larger than a deck.

Playing Card Plethora / DIY Card clips
« on: January 02, 2013, 04:04:43 PM »
Thought I'd try making a few card clips, these are all experimental but we're getting there.

first aluminium (thats Al-u-min-e-UMM guys, not Ah-LOOO-mi-num LOL!) with spine swage works well and grips the deck firmly:

Second still aluminium no spine swage and a little too tight after applying red felt the clip is forced open by the width of the deck:

Hmm red felt on red close up mat, I thought that through!!

Dammit.... Next:

Aluminium with spade pip sandblasted on through a template, Also has mirrored vinyl back and red felt:

Still flares a bit

Arrgh! turn off the flash

There we go, mirrored back:

Carved out of a solid block of marble....

OK I lied these are mild steel with black felt interior and sticky vinyl exterior. they both work really well:

I don't think Joe Porper Has to worry any time soon but I'm enjoying making these and experimenting with them,

I actually had to make my own mini folding machine to be able to fully bend the metal back on itself with was a nightmare to begin with. Anyway what do you think? be kind, remember they are a work in progress under development!!

And no, they're not for sale!!!....

Alex, as you're still unkeen to ship internationally I say send them to Don as what he does would seem to be the most worthwhile use of the cards. I'll even send you $5 towards the shipping for them.

What's your Paypal email?

Playing Card Plethora / Re: Blades Special Edition [NEW DECK]
« on: December 31, 2012, 08:42:26 AM »
Don looks like the Special edition deck is on hold for now but seems that theres a few more blades decks in the forseeable future, Devo wrote on his facebook:

HL Custom Decks for 2013 - Right now all our efforts are going to the AMAZING Magicians Must Die Comic Deck. We are making a special Comic Con reprint of the first issue with sketch comic cover, will have the all new HOT 2nd issue, and a companion "Blades Deck" featuring the back design of the Blades cards that appear in the 2nd issue. It will be a Cross-over "Blades Deck" made in limited runs. Will feature normal Blades faces, stock and finish, but will have a special back design made specially for each issue featuring a weapon from the comic. Those of you that have MMD #1 saw that the cards used was the Blades Blood Edition, and people loved this! So we decided to make a Blades companion deck with each issue. The will be sold separately. There "may" be a Special Edition Blades Deck and another PRO XCM Deck in the future, but right now everything is geared toward Denver Comic Con and our one of a kind Comic Decks. That's all we have planned thus far for 2013, but anything can happen!

If he wants to get into comics I think the idea of a comic with an accompanying blades deck is a better idea than stretching a comic over playing card faces.
Just read it again, looks like the comic will still be stretched over card faces for future editions.

At least he's redesigning the backs for each of the new Blades decks, I wonder if there'll be different colours??!! Sorry just me being facecious LOL!!!

It amuses me you guys harping on at "just another colour variation" The Blades series are amongst my favorite decks.
First you had the Silver edition the 1st run of which was released in fewer numbers than the 2nd
Then came the White edition Which had the same back design as the silver
Next the Midnight edition a black faced, Black Backed deck with a redesigned simplyfied back design
Then the Blood edition White faced with the same back design as the midnight but with the red colouration, and of course you had the blood metal edition.

The Midnight and White editions are the only decks I've ever bought a full brick each of. and I've actually given away a lot of those.I sent one of each to Allen, CardsRFun on youtube after I saw his review of the silver edition.

If Devo were to release the silver edition design in gold, I'd be all over it like a rash. Whilst I'm not a fan of some of his antics, I didn't buy the Pro cardistry deck or the MMD deck as I thought they were in pretty bad taste.

So to recap that's two back designs available in two different colour variations with one special edition.
Have a think how many decks come in a two colour back design variation.
I'll start of with:
Standard Bicycle red and Blue
Arcane Black and White oh and don't forget that other recolouration the gold.
The list goes on....

Devo is no worse than a lot of other card designers but due to his unpopularity he's an easy Target for those who know no better.

Hey Alex,

Would you reconsider the international shipping? I know the customs forms are a nightmare but aceking ships up to 14 decks in a flat rate envelope for $18ish
$18 for 12 decks = $1.50 per deck
$18ish shipping for 12 decks = $1.50 per deck
Works out at $3ish per deck sounds like a bargain to me especially as most if not all the decks were never available here in the UK to start with, and considering I just spent over $20 shipping 4 luxury crown decks.
I'd rather this option than the D&D mystery deck option, thats for sure.
So go on Alex. Just for me?
Purrrrrleeeeese

If the pip design wasn't ripped off, if this was printed by uspcc and it wasn't so expensive, then I would have pledged for this deck, as it turns out though, the pips ARE ripped off, it's NOT printed by uspcc and it's overpriced. Therefore no money from me!!

I received two of these today, I love the fact that there was little to no hype, that they almost just appeared out of nowhere, I'm not keen on the jokers but the rest of the deck does not disappoint, fully custom and the Tuckbox is great too, more excited about this than the impossible to get black artifice!!

Playing Card Plethora / Re: The New Deck Report - UPDATED 6-12x/week
« on: November 20, 2012, 05:51:25 AM »
Think I'm guna give black Friday a miss this year! Far too much to choose from! I still don't understand why, even when it's not black Friday, most card companies seem to release new decks in the 3rd or 4th week of the month. My wage enters the bank on the last day of the month. I have surplus funds during the first week usually. So that's when I'm looking to buy my cards. Ah well.

I would hope you'd complete one project by getting decks into your backers hands before starting a second kickstarter. It will prove you can deliver the goods  so to speak.

I do like these and will most likely pledge when the time comes.

I actually really like some of the T-Shirts and Hoodies they have available. Though I think the decks are hideous.

These days with kickstarter, you have to pledge for your deck(s), Add on some Dice, add on a card clip, a t-shirt and a puppy.

it used to be, we've raised 10K great metallic inks on the cards,
12k free dice for everyone!
15k embossed box,
21k metalic foil an the box
40k free puppy for everyone

OK so i'm lying about the puppies!

But I know how i preferred it.

I don't think there's anything wrong with the artwork looks to be a good standard, but there's nothing screaming to me, "Must Have" about this deck.
The Ace did make me smile though.

Don, do you think we should maybe have a Kickstarter Sub forum in Playing Card Plethora to keep all these new projects in place?

Thanks for the advice Paul. That worked,

Created the account first before proceeding to checkout so all the address fields were already filled.

Could only order two decks as funds are really low this month.

So, when can we expect a Tendril V2? I ordered 6 decks but because it's my favorite deck I only have 2 still wrapped in cellophane as I've been using them so much.

EDIT: can't register as well, when all required fields are filled, the site still wants me to fill everything and does not bring me to 'step 3' even if i manually did that, another problem arises, I selected Singapore as my country but it requires me to select a US state, must be a bug of sorts, i recall not having this when i registered. ahh, will purchase again tmr morning..

Same issue, I'm gunna try and check out as a guest.

Sorry, but this design is really weak.

Wow!! way to offer support, no reason why you think this is a weak design? No constructive criticism to offer as to what could be improved?

Sorry but your comment is weak.

Go away troll!

Right,

I like the deck and have just pledged.

I had the idea of creating some stainless playing cards using our laser cutter at work just never got round to it, great minds think alike!

As for your stretch goals we'll have to see how the budget is holding up, lots of cool decks coming out this month,

Good luck with the project you're off to a good start!

I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to pull you up on this. He is most certainly not trolling. He is simply starting his opinion. You don't always have to deliver constructive criticism or support. I personally do not like the design, it looks cheap. Yet I hope the deck is successful for Karak's sake.

And I'll reply. Opinions are like A***holes, everybody has one, You are always to the point with yours, I haven't always agreed with you posts but what I will say is that you don't hold back and are truthful with your comments. You never seem to resort to the one line posts such as:
"I like this deck"
"I don't like this"
These type of comments add nothing to a DISCUSSION forum, Don often pulls people up for these types of comments, and whilst I am not a moderator I will always make a stand if I feel it's warrented.
I read kcaso's comment and I felt it was an unfair comment with no supportive points made I felt it was a weak comment and I stated why.

You think the design looks cheap but at least you have the decency to add a goodwill comment about hoping the deck is successful.

My apologies to the OP for the off topic

I like the Royal flush to Blackjack gaff cards in the arcane gaff deck

Also the "sexy" queen of hearts from the ultragaff deck!
