Linen finish is pretty much the general term for an equivalent of air cushion finish, I think what really matters here is who's making them. ::)

The original linen finish is excellent, but I doubt the cards you found are the old linen finish from USPCC. If you find "linen finish" on a USPCC deck from modern times, that's just branding and the real finish/coating used is the air-cushion.

If you find that name on any non-USPCC deck, it means nothing, and in all likelihood handles terribly.

The finish name on Tally-ho decks isn't even linen, it's linoid. :P

Whoa, dude.  Take a deep breath.  Relax.

We ALL make mistakes from time to time.  Just take it in stride - I don't think he meant it maliciously.

And if I'm not mistaken, the ORIGINAL Linoid finish is actually a modified version of a linen finish, Moon...   :P

That is what the name would imply, yes. But you said it: modified. :P
Either way, All we have left today is the name. Hmm that makes me think... In that topic about innovation, nobody mentioned recreating a real linen finish, right?

...probably due to the expense and the lack of a manufacturer of the needed equipment.  You'd have to custom-make the cloth rollers, and they wear out MUCH faster than the metal ones used today.

The REAL linen finish is not practical today, it is very different from modern air cushion finish. You may still find the old linen finish on some vintage/antique decks, it looks just like... linen, and hard to fan. :-X

For my money, I'd take the type of finish on J-Nuggs over linen if I was to revive one or the other.  The Jerry's cards were actually dipped into the finish after cutting!  Imagine a modern dipped-card deck with something like Magic Finish on it...
