Also it caught fire on the anniversary of Houdini's death, at the same time he died. Coincidence?.....Yes, most likely.
OMFG! This is funny s#it! LOL

Regarding the Actuators, In my opinion, I must say these are some of the nicest
cards (faces, backs and box) that I've seen in a while.

Also, how did Dan and Dave get away with not mentioning the USPCC anywhere on their smoke and mirrors?
This is an irritating and funny thing internally due to the fact that our Legal crap changes all the time.
So the rule for now is that on non- Bicycle branded custom stuff you can put "Distributed By (whoever)"  so you don't have to mention USPCC. But if you don't put "Distributed By (whoever)" then you need to have the "Manufactured by USPCC"
Make sense?

I thought that it was mandatory for boxes to have "Air Cushion Finish" on them, no matter what the finish is.
"Air Cushion Finish" is mandatory if it's a Bicycle branded deck.

I didn't even catch that! How is that being picky?

Would you buy a car that had "MADE IN THE YOUNITED STATE OF AMERICA"?

Seriously, how do you make a typo on something you have an infinite amount of time to look at and fix. Two possibilities: The designer is a 5th grader, or the designer rushed the design.

Nobody is perfect, in this post alone I made at least five typos as I was writing it. That's be beauty of time, it never runs out. Spend three seconds and use the backspace button.

Funnily enough, the USPCC has no such thing as an "embossed finish" which means that either these guys will run into some legal issues when they actually submit their work for approval, or they are really using an embossed finish which means no coating, just dimpling...

I honestly think this may be our first playing card project to fail on Kickstarter.  :(
I vote a bad translation to English.
They could use "Embossed Finish" if they wanted to. It's "Air-Cushion Finish" that is trademarked
and has to get cleared by legal.

Very odd deck, the left panel is a bit screwy, the letter t in "the" needs to be capitalized.
Should say "The United States Playing Card Company" also I never heard of "Erlangers"
Should be "Erlanger". I know I'm being picky.

I don't see how they can reprint so many decks in such little time. Don't most decks take months?
Months? No way, the art is basically
done, it just needs tweaked. And if there
is press time open, it only takes a couple
of hours if that to print 10, 13, or 17 thousand
sheets. Since the tucks are already printed.
The most time will be spent running
thru the punches and packaging.
So it could be done in just a few days.

I find that hard to believe. If they are willing to destroy TEN-THOUSAND decks because the colors "Aren't EXACTLY right" then why would they keep the original court cards and Ace of Spades.
Maybe this is the price to pay to have some
Of the most rare cards ever made. And any publicity
is good publicity.

"Even bad publicity is good publicity." Unfortunately this does not apply here. In a holiday season where I can't even count on two hands how many amazing decks are coming out it's very easy to say "no thank you" and move on to another release.

I could get some Monarchs and enjoy a complete Theory11 collection, or I can buy more decks from other companies. Heck, E's Infinity deck looks a million times better by comparison and their staff actually takes the time to address people's concerns.

Theory11 already lost my respect
after releasing useless "Titanium" cards in multiple editions, but seriously - threatening a kid because he wanted to praise the company and generate sales for them?

If I tried that, I would lose 90% of my pledges in a week.

Nice post Alex, the tuck is really nice and the cards look good too, but their not worth the hype.

Do you know how I can get a set of the Bicycle 2011 WSOP decks.. either those ones, or reprints they might of done.

Thanks in advance

CBJ

There was a huge conspiracy with them...
"Miguel and Clive have finally been exposed and then admitted to paying off an employer of the card manufacturing company Bicycle, that has manufactured the dodgy marked cards in the 2011 WSOP $1,000 No-Limit Hold’em Event.

Miguel and Clive owned up and admitted to getting the cards marked during the manufacturing process in the hopes that their investment would pay off if they won a WSOP bracelet.

The devious plan was thwarted by Jon Turner – PearlJammer – who spotted that the low cards in the Bicycle deck of cards were marked. A new deck of unmarked cards was called for but all the cards decks manufactured by the Bicycle card company were marked the same."

There are 2 different colors... the one shown above and red.

Has anyone come across these??

I wonder if Bicycle destroyed them all??

CBJ

This is funny stuff, The part about paying off a employee from USPCC to mark the decks is total Bulls#it!

So, the back of the deck are all different?
On both top and bottom part?

Yes the Backs are different, flip through and you will see animation.

Somehow JB at Theory11 found out about those pictures too. So I took them down. They're back up though!

I got a feeling JB is just loving all the publicity, If he didn't want pre-released picture put up, then he probably would't have pre-released anything. Just my opinion.

What about the Bicycle Serpent Deck Being releases from Bicycle directly ... still waiting for that one

CBJ
The Serpent is a really awesome one. Unfortunatey there
is some political internal crap going on between the Custom and Branded
department that may cause it not to be released.

Playing Card Plethora / Re: is it possible...
« on: November 05, 2011, 12:45:23 AM »
Unless there is a coating that would produce a lower coefficient of friction than the one currently being used, then it could conceivably create the same amount of friction as the "Air Cushion". I know its probably unlikely, but just trying to think of different ideas.

This would be interesting if it could be done. But would people be able to get over the dramatic feel difference?

Playing Card Plethora / Re: is it possible...
« on: November 05, 2011, 12:27:09 AM »
... to make the magic/performance finish into a smooth finish? I would think they could just not put the dimples into the card and just put the finish on making it a smooth finish, or is there WAY more to it then that?

Yes its possible, But if you take away the embossing "Air Cushion", the cards will feel cheap and not have the slippery slide. No embossing = more friction = less slide

Check it out in late November

20
yes i am and real quick anyone know about the 808's? i just found some riders in a small store and the back of the deck is the riderback but it the bottom says 808 and side says made in ohio.

Those are older decks, at least 3 years old. The 808 is being phased out with legal garbage since Jarden Corp bought USPCC

21
And You are in USA, right?

I doubled checked my resources and the colored joker is becoming wide spread.

22
What? Really?
So the color joker is not typical?
But I got it from costco Japan.

But I'm glad that the white joker is still remain. I like the white one more.

Let me revise this just a bit, The colored Joker was originally meant for the Asian market, But it appears to be getting more common all over the place

23
And now the standard box has a color joker.

The colored joker is not in all Standard boxes this was for only for certain customers

24
actually the riderback deck had more ink in the pips, and i think a little bigger if i was told right, standard is a cheaper version.

Actually the story about the smaller pip goes like this... The "Rider Back" box design was changed to the "Standard" box design. in the beginning both had the same faces & pips. Then for a short period of time, for like a couple of weeks the faces were changed to the smaller pips and perfectly double ended faces. So when people started griping about the smaller pips, the faces were changed
back to the original size. "Standard" is not a cheaper version, It's only a ugly redesign.

25
I'm confusing about the myth10

MYTH10 | The new "Standard Bicycles" are simply nowhere near as good as the old "Rider Backs" from Ohio! TRUE
The "Bicycle Standard" decks have a much lower quality control than their old counterparts. Riderbacks are still made in mass production with high standards for quality, but you aren't as likely to find them in your local department store anymore.

Is riderback still produced? Then where can I buy it?
Is the one at D&D shop riderback or standard back?
(By the way I know the back is the same but I wanna know about the box)

Let me shed some light on this. FALSE! The
quality control is no different. Yes there may
have been a few techinal hiccups going from
Cincinnati to Erlanger but it is all good now. And what your calling
"Rider Back" box is not being mass produced anymore.
The "Standard" box is simply an updated design using the
same cards as always. The word "Standard" only
refers to the "Standard Face Style" like the same way
"Jumbo" refers to the "Jumbo Face Style"
So the short ansewer is... Same cards with ugly box!
