so i have been back and forth with what to do here and i know that it will be custom framed and if they can engrave First of the Aether ( english and latin) but one thing i was thinking i could do is have it hanging up in the store i work at ( with owners permission) i figure people will want to know more about you guys and more people will get to see the art, i work at a grocery store and figure this might work well, should i do it?

It would look cool, but I don't see why you would. If you want to that's all good, but I see no reason to keep it in a grocery store.
-
well a ton of people go in and out of the store, if i new a better place in my town i would work there and have it there. this way i can keep an eye on it to keep it safe and show it off to people

Hello, Please forgive my rather uninformed question. I have an uncut sheet of deck one. I was not planning on keeping it but ,alas, It looks like I will. I want to know how you go about framing these things. I would think you would want both sides to be visible but I do not know if that is how it is done.

I guess bring it to a framing store

Yes, I was planning on doing that. I was just wondering what side people usually show or can you have it mounted so you can have either side viewable. I ask because it will be awhile before I can get to a framing shop. I will give you an applaud for helping anyway.

Thanks! Its really your choice which side you want to show.... I usually show the backs but it all depends on the style of the deck in my opinion
-
Have the side you like best shown, I was thinking if I get a bunch to make them into a wall with glass on both sides and have it built into my house
-
Alright, understood, so I guess I have to choose one side or the other. Can not have the option of turning it either way. Makes sense. I am going to put it away until I can get it framed. Thanks again.

For about $100-$150 online you could have it sandwiched between two pieces of custom cut glass/plexi and get a basic metal frame that would look acceptable.
If you go to a 'Michael's' or Hobby Lobby type store they will charge you around $300-$600 depending on frame, the price drops dramatically because they always have either a 50% or 60% off custom frames. Thats how I have done mine.
--- edited to fix poor grammar! ---
-
$100-150? That's crazy expensive for a few pieces of cut plexi. If you don't mind doing a bit of work yourself, you could build it for about $20
-
... and frame.
-
Itis only a deck one uncut. Cost me twenty dollars.
-
MrMagic, your idea isn't bad, but it would work better in a magic shop. And I would probably prefer the faces facing you if it has custom faces because you can see the custom faces and there usually a double backer so you could also see the back, But if the weren't custom faces I would probably have the backs facing you.
-
i have a bee stingers and a D1IE uncut sheeys, im gonna get them, framed
-
@MrMagic - a grocery store seems like an unlikely place for a framed, uncut card deck sheet. No matter where I work, I generally try to keep my personal possessions that I leave there at a minimum, particularly if it's rare, valuable or difficult/impossible to replace. Hang it proudly in your home, man - it's a work of art! (Also bear in mind that unless you shell out extra for museum-type glass, sunlight in any place that you hang it could ruin the colors over time.) The "wall of cards" idea is kind of interesting, but you needn't go to such an extreme as building them into a wall. Find an area with a lot of space that you'd like to divide and string them from ceiling to floor using steel wires. Another option would be to build them into a Japanese-style room divider, but you'd want to secure it to a wall or fixture so one clumsy accident doesn't ruin the entire collection or kill anyone standing nearby!
@Eggman - it may have only cost you $20, but on average an unframed, uncut sheet goes for nearly $100 on eBay, with exceptionally rare ones going for multiples above that. Framing it will increase the value, especially if it's a quality job. Not to mention it's a freakin' work of art! DeckOne was a really cool design, and the backs remind me of the throne room from the Death Star II! I love that deck.
-
$200 for a frame + glass is a wonderful deal due to the size of the uncut. Don't get it framed online, you can barter better deals in person at various hobby stores, especially right now during the holidays.
Like Russell said, Michael's is an excellent place for these things.
-
ok so a few things here, first off alex i was waiting for you to post :) also yea my idea for mine since i want it engraved will probably cost a lot, also good@sabacc you might pm me where to go about those things and a pic of the japanese thing cause idk what that is.
-
I would call around to award stores and find out who they outsource their framing to (for jerseys, etc)
That's what I did and ended up getting some amazing prices for some framework I had done.
I'm hoping to get my hands on a couple of good uncuts so I get them framed for my man-cave

I'm going to have a huge shrine of playing cards, and Phillies stuff in my man-cave, and I'm going to cover the walls with uncuts. First I need to graduate high-school, graduate college, get a job, fall in love, and get married, and THEN I will get my man-cave.

The item in question is called a "shoji screen" - like these:

You could create something similar in construction, using your uncut sheets in frames to display both the front and back of the deck. Pull it out to show it off, fold it away when you need the extra space. The actual wood and hinges of your typical shoji aren't that expensive at all. You'd just want to build it sturdy enough to take the weight of the framed uncut sheets you want to display. You would want to use a stronger wood, or heavier pieces of wood. You'd also want sheets of something soft like felt to drop between the layers when it's folded shut to keep the frames from banging into those on the neighboring sections, depending on the exact method you used to make the frames for the cards.

Actually, to make your man-cave, leaving out the "fall in love" and "get married" parts would make the job much simpler... (LMAO)

First time I heard about uncut sheets, that was the first thought that came to mind!

What exactly is the double glass frame?
Can you see both side of the uncut?

Yes! You can see both sides

Very nice - glad to see someone's making them. The uncut sheet is one of those rare pieces of art that's meant to be hung but has two sides to it, making ordinary framing and hanging less desirable.
