I love the front of the box, but despise the back of the deck.

The creators write:

`Decks will be availible on www.kickstarter.com within a week. We will be posting more information and images (box design, gaff cards, etc.) over the next few days.

I agree with you completely.  It seems very angular and basic for my tastes/

Horrible color choices. That's not even crimson!

To further illustrate my point this is crimson, like blood/hell/satan:

This is maroon, like couches/purses/velvet/band:

Maroon Gate is a more appropriate name, and this is a more appropriate back design:

Heh. ^

I appreciate the effort it takes to make a new deck of cards, and personally do not have the time to devote to such a project so I admire those that do, but this particular look does not jive with me at all and I really won't be interested. Doesn't have the detail or polish I generally look for.

Now THAT'S a deck I'd buy!

But the actual Crimson Gate looks sloppy and quickly made. Like a MS paint drawing.

I am going to agree with the consensus, ill be passing on this deck. For some reason or another the deck reminds me of the 1997 movie called "Cube", I don't really know why, I think its because the art on the cards is sort of similar to design/patterns in the movie ( I can't guarantee, since I have not watched the movie in years, but that just what pops into my head when I see this deck )

I am not really a fan of black and red decks to start of with, so having a mostly red and black deck, that is not even very nice looking to begin with is not a good combo for me.

I think some tiny white accents would help the look of this deck.

I do like the picture on the front of the box... but the colors make it bad.

I hope they take the time to rework it.  And I don't like the card backs.

I agree this deck is not aesthetically pleasing at all. I'm sure the artist/designer took more time he could possibly have a much better deck. The whole thing looks a little too rushed. For now I'll have to pass

Ha- Cube was pretty good fun, worth a watch if you haven't seen it.  Avoid the sequels like the plague. Hmm... it does look like it a bit but there's another one of those movies that looks way more like this... it might be 'Fortress' but I can't remember.

I think the faith of the public in custom playing cards are supported by the four pillars of Aether, Circle City, Lance and Seasons. Unfortunately it is an absolute dumpster underneath.

Very odd deck, the left panel is a bit screwy, the letter t in "the" needs to be capitalized.
Should say "The United States Playing Card Company" also I never heard of "Erlangers"
Should be "Erlanger". I know I'm being picky.

I didn't even catch that! How is that being picky?

Would you buy a car that had "MADE IN THE YOUNITED STATE OF AMERICA"?

Seriously, how do you make a typo on something you have an infinite amount of time to look at and fix. Two possibilities: The designer is a 5th grader, or the designer rushed the design.

Nobody is perfect, in this post alone I made at least five typos as I was writing it. That's be beauty of time, it never runs out. Spend three seconds and use the backspace button.

Funnily enough, the USPCC has no such thing as an "embossed finish" which means that either these guys will run into some legal issues when they actually submit their work for approval, or they are really using an embossed finish which means no coating, just dimpling...

I honestly think this may be our first playing card project to fail on Kickstarter.  :(

I vote a bad translation to English.
They could use "Embossed Finish" if they wanted to. It's "Air-Cushion Finish" that is trademarked
and has to get cleared by legal.

"Air Cushion Finish" is mandatory if it's a Bicycle branded deck.

This is an irritating and funny thing internally due to the fact that our Legal crap changes all the time.
So the rule for now is that on non- Bicycle branded custom stuff you can put "Distributed By (whoever)"  so you don't have to mention USPCC. But if you don't put "Distributed By (whoever)" then you need to have the "Manufactured by USPCC"
Make sense?

Are you kidding me? To me, this deck is about a thousand times better than the Occupy Wall Street playing cards: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/yeslab/deck-the-1-occupywallstreet-playing-cards?ref=live

I mean no offence to anyone, but in my opinion that is one terrible deck.

That deck is not meant for our community~ if you look carefully you can tell that there has actually been a lot of work put into that deck in terms of research and arrangement. This is just taking a template and drawing a few rectangles here and there. The cardistry community expects ALOT better. The politcal community - not so much.

I don't want to be harsh but it's no fun seeing this be the first failed Kickstarter deck project. If they took more than a few weeks to make the deck it seems it could be much more successful.

And on top of that, with all the other Kickstarter campaigns running right now.. it's probably a bad time to start their campaign

I agree. It's a horrible time to launch a kickstarter. With a few already running and the many new releases I'm guessing this one will get brushed aside. I know I won't be funding because of the other kickstarters/decks coming soon.

In my opinion they should have waited a few months to launch the kickstarter and worked on refining and editing the design. Would have worked wonders im guessing

If this deck succeeds on kickstarter and my Galvanic deck doesn't...then we have a problem.

I agree 100% with everyone post, the designer did seem like he rushed everything.

classic face = doesn't want to spend $600 for custom faces.  It works out to be $0.12 per deck on a 5,000 run.

Custom AoS + standard AoS  = using one of the ad cards as the custom AoS to save money.

Theres already a lot of decks being produced that focus around red, death, crimson etc etc.
If the designer broke away from this it might be successful.

Just my 2 cents

No, it depends entirely on your cards. The max charge is $800, and it depends how many cards you want to customize. $800 is a lot of money in the long run, considering it is taxed like everything else.

I believe customizing the face of any card is in that quote - but I can't be sure since I basically called USPCC and said "whatever the price is for 100% custom faces, I'll do it. Is there any way we can do it for under $1000?" The response I received was "The maximum we would ever charge for custom faces is $800" so I took it. :)

Again, prices vary deck to deck and month to month.
