Playing Card Plethora / Re: Most Displayable/Best Looking Tuck Case

Good call on the Luxx. I'll look into it.

You also reminded me. I really wish I had not sold my Zenith decks. I got them when they first came out. I think Encarded only limited you to 4 decks you could purchase and I did indeed purchase 4. And now I see one sold for $150...

Playing Card Plethora / Most Displayable/Best Looking Tuck Case
« on: March 31, 2017, 06:17:22 AM »
Its been a while since I've posted here. I recently got back into collecting and am trying to display my collection better (bought a display case off ebay).
I've been at it for a while and MOST times I buy a pack because of the cards inside, not caring as much about the tuck. Lately, I've been leaning towards getting decks that have a beautiful tuck and being much more lenient towards the actual cards inside. These are decks that I will probably keep sealed and keep just for display.

In general, some of my favorite tucks include the Ogma deck, black Whispering Imps, and the Virts decks.

Anyone want to share their favorite playing card tuck cases?

Might as well nominate my own: Seasons Playing Cards (if we can nominate the set, if I had to choose one, Platinum Seronda), Original Virts, and Silver Split Spades (i've only owned silver, but maybe there's a better color?)

Ok, people, having seen that list, I can't help but thinking that we could compile a far, far more accurate list ourselves. So, what are YOUR "Insanely Awesome" decks?

That's a good idea, but I think we should make a SINGLE, overall, group approved list of "insanely awesome" decks.
Everyone can nominate decks they believe belong on the list and those (already user nominated) which they feel do not, or is that complicated?
Maybe lower the number to 10 insanely awesome "Forum Approved" decks?
This wouldn't necessarily be "Our 10 Favorite Decks" but rather decks we can agree are indeed "insanely awesome."

5
if the gold deck was made of real gold then they'd have 1 sufficient nomination

just using the term "insanely awesome" even cheapens a couple of the decks I like on that list
but it's just clickbait, i guess...

+1 for Xela

Bought about 18 decks from him and they came in perfect condition as stated.

Playing Card Plethora / Re: Casino Decks

I'd think the beat-up, original used boxes would add to the charm of the deck displays. I'd display them as is.

I mean, one could say they are "just" used, cancelled casino decks, so why go through the trouble. But, if collecting casino decks is your thing and you think it'd be fun to buy/design/create your own tuck box for them, then why the hell not. From what I've seen, and in my humble opinion, cancelled casino decks don't catch my eye unless they're especially rare or old.

Personally, I'd try to find un-cancelled versions of your favorite casino decks (if possible). It would probably be fun to track those down and display them in their pristine boxes.

I've never seen that vintage Maverick. I love the tuck design. Very cool

Mine arrived today!!!

The tuck box and card backs are a vivid inky blue and pure eye candy to display.
The cards are indeed a little uncharacteristically stiff upon opening, but I love that, which is why I'm limiting myself to fanning and simple cuts when handling them.

Crazy ebay prices now, but once these cards make their way to more backers and things settle, I'd say they are a worthy addition to your collection, even though they are just a color swap.

I have none currently but 4 of them ended recently. I actually over-backed a project and sadly I had to cancel my pledge. Hopefully I can get that deck in second hand market.

Point is, keep tabs on when campaigns end so you don't end up like me.

Introduce Yourself / Re: How did you find PlayingCardForum?
« on: May 14, 2014, 11:18:49 AM »
Even though I've been here a while, might as well say vjose32 on youtube frequently mentions this unknown entity known as "the forums" in his reviews and one day after searching for a random deck I came upon this site, which I figured was the forum. After I realized the forum could answer some of my questions and I could offer my own opinion on topics, I decided to join.

Just got my cards and they look amazing!
Would take a pic but I don't have a don't have a great camera.

Problem is even though I usually open at least 1 of each deck I have, I don't have the heart to open these so I'm hoping someone else can tell me how they handle.

Design & Development / Re: (DDDC) the "discourse" deck
« on: May 03, 2014, 12:55:36 PM »
I like the idea of removing the text and letting the design do the talking.

I didn't think adding in the hat was a joke. I saw it and, like most users of this forum, knew exactly what the reference was and liked it. The fear would be making the deck too gimmicky, but I think you've had some very good ideas so far.

They're kinda flashy - I have to confess, I got to see these cards during my last visit to CARC.  They're a bright alternative to the monochrome Exquisite backs, and they're made to the same quality.  It's a fun deck for a magician to bust out, and the foil on the center star could make for some stylish cardistry moves.  If I recall, the faces are the same as the original Exquisites as well - either that, or it's the new standard face that Expert PCC was working on when Bill mentioned it last, a new standard for their custom orders that don't have custom faces.

Hey I've been meaning to ask if CARC is a place anyone can visit and buy cards in person or rather a private office open only to employees and friends.

Boo to the dashed dreams of a Breaking Bad inspired J.R. deck.

(Basically I got excited thinking you were making a Breaking Bad deck, but you were just commenting on someone else's. As someone who has your Fed 52 decks and has pledged The Independence Series, and who is a Breaking Bad fan, you can appreciate the disappointment upon realizing my error.)

So I look at the "Recent Posts" and all I see is "Breaking Bad Playing Cards (KS) by Jackson Robinson" and I'm like NO. FUCKING. WAY! and then after I click the link to my dismay he's shunning someone else's unsanctioned knockoff.

Boo.

that's really cool. did you get them all from play-sets?

sounds cliche but my little brother loved his lego sets growing up and starting next year he's going to college for engineering.

backed this project too

I think i prefer the standard courts over the limited ones. they remind me of the Noc v2 courts. luckily i don't have to choose since i got two of each!

done and done

I understand the layout of the back design has been used, but as long as the price is right, I'd gladly add this to my collection, especially since I like the color and I know the handling will be there.

Great deal!

Always been a fan of the thick, sturdy cards sold by Conjuring Arts. I have a Smith No. 2 and a Green Acorn Back and I love them both!

Smart artistic and business decisions all around. I can learn a thing or two from this guy.

Very interested in this to say the least.
