I Love all the responses here. I agree with all of you that collecting is a fun hobby for me as well. I have just seen times when folks try to profit highly off of decks that are out of print or unavailable. For instance you buy decks during a Kickstarter campaign for $15 a deck. One year later they are no longer available and you would like one for your collection or just for fun. You find them for sale from $50 to $300 dollars. All I can say is WOW! I have never tried to profit like that with fellow collectors. I always try to treat everyone with dignity and respect. I guess if I ever sell my collection, line up because the deals will be out of this world!

It was fun for me in the beginning, then slowly I thought of buying in bulk and selling them for a little profit to cover what I want to keep. That didn't work out the way I wanted. So now I am back with having fun collecting what I really want  ;)

I try to choose carefully what I really like and not buy things based on popularity  :P

I wish I had taken that advice early in Hankman. I started collecting decks as I was into magic. I joined 52 Plus so I could figure out how to collect cards. The advice I kept getting over and over was collect what you like! So here I am 2000 decks later just collecting what I like. I do get caught up in the hype from time to time; however I really enjoy collecting. Now if I could just start opening some of them and learning how to enjoy a deck of cards the way Fess does.

for fun and interest in card magic. I guess its not reliable or profitable enough to make some money, if you don't invest a crazy amount of time into it. There are better and easier ways to make some profit with that time ;) I For my part don't want to know what I already spent on cards, even if they still might me worth a lot, its always hard to sell big collections. I don't see it as an investment. Just my hobby I like o spend money on ;)

I agree completely! I buy for fun and enjoy collecting.

I enjoy collecting cards. I do it for my own personal pleasure. I never started this hobby with a for profit or an investment into my future. What about you? Do you collect for fun? Or for Profit?

You can cast your vote above.

@Don Boyer - I agree with allot of your points. I will just have to collect my thoughts and put them down when my mind is not so cluttered.

I like where you are going and would love your thoughts when you have time. Since some vintage or antique decks are either out of reach or no longer obtainable, wouldn't you like to see one brought back to life? I think it may be fun to be able to hold that piece of history in your hands close up so it can be appreciated. Or maybe I have not thought this through enough.

With all the cards I have collected it has become a reality that there must be a better way to display.
So with card frames, display cases, boxes, drawers, book shelves, and many other ideas I've seen. I think the time has come a good display setup needs to be done. If I gave you a magic wand and said create your perfect display. What would it be?

I am a relatively new card collector. I love modern decks as well as vintage and antique decks; however the market has seemingly taken on a life of it's own. I see new decks being created almost daily. With all the new decks projects it get a bit overwhelming, and some projects seem to begin to get lost in the shuffle. What types of decks would you like to see come to the market as collectors?
Cardistry Decks? Poker Decks? Restoration Projects? Themed Decks? Magic Decks? Art Decks? Historical Decks, Remakes of Vintage or Antique Decks?

What turns your crank?

Hello All

I am in search of 1 Zenith Deck to finish off my collection. I either have the deck and it is buried in boxes somewhere, or I did not pledge for it during the campaign. Either way if you have an extra you would be willing to sell at a reasonable price I would be interested in hearing from you.

Where do you go to ask members for surplus decks they may have? I need a few decks to finish certain creators lines. Also where should I have posted this?

Hello

I am a card collector from Atlanta, GA. I am not new but, I just can't seem to get a grip on navigating around forums. I love collecting playing cards of all kinds. I support way too many Kickstarter projects as they have labeled me a super backer. I think that is their way of letting me know I may need to join a support group. At any rate I am going to try and see if I can get this forum figured out so I can start enjoying it.  I also noticed I have 7 posts and a reputation of negative -1. Ho is your reputation measured? How do you get a positive reputation? The shame of it all :( frustrating  :(
