I am really looking forward to this deck, I only pledged for one but it will still be nice to add the the collection. Something just really appeals to me about the colour combinations in this deck.

P.s

I know there have been some backlash against CC cards in other threads. Do not bring those up in this thread please. Use this thread to discuss, what I think, is a pretty nice deck. Thanks!

I just checked on the kickstarter.
Just only $1362 and everyone will get a set of dices.
C'Mon this deck look really great, why don't just add it to your collection $7 a deck and free shipping in USA is really cheap.

It was stated at kickstarter
"Right now anyone who is pledging under $50 will receive 2 dice and anyone pledging $50 or more will get the full 5 dice set.  Many people wanted all 5 dice even with a smaller pledge, and I agree, there needs to be a way.  I have decided that anyone (under $50) who adds $0.99 to their pledge amount will get all 5 dice. "

So you will get 2 dice.

Nope. My goal is to create the best deck of cards I can. When the option is upgrade inks, upgrade quality control, upgrade stocks and add new features, that will always take priority over something like dice.

That, and the fact that we're building a new website with big features and whatnot, there is no money in the budget for t-shirts or anything similar. The small amount of profit I will be making if we reach $30k+ will go completely to reducing the goal for the second deck.

It'd maybe be something to think about for the future.  I know it's early days, so maybe a long time from now, away from Kickstarter you could offer things like that.  Personally, I'd love to see an Aethercards coin come with a brick... just putting that out there.

Oh for sure. This is our first deck, and our first Kickstarter. We need to set a good foundation first.

An update from the man himself... Russell Kercheval.

Project Update #11: Chuggin' Along
Posted by Russell Kercheval Like
DECEMBER UPDATE:Still on track.  Over the past month I have completed the designs (see below) worked out a few contracts and have contacted a fulfillment company.  Not much in the realm of update-worthy news, mostly behind the scenes technicalities.  I am hoping to have the cards in my hands around late January, but with the holidays coming up and the back and forth of final revisions (prototypes and proofs) I am guessing February would be a more realistic timeframe.  USPCC/Bicycle is the best company out there for making cards and the little bit of extra time it takes to produce the cards is completely worth the wait.  I can't wait to get these cards in your (and my!) hands. SURVEYS:I will send out the surveys a week or so before the cards arrive.  An announcement or update will be made on here to let everyone know when to expect them in your email.  I am waiting much longer this time to ensure I get your most accurate mailing information. PICS:In lieu of any concrete information, I have produced a few 'behind the scenes' pictures, sort of a quick overview of the design process. Here are a few random cards. Enjoy.

I'll have a few larger picture to show at a later time.
Again, thanks to all of you for your support and patience!  I'll be posting the next update when I get some real news for you! Thanks!
- Russell Kercheval

Adam Clarkson's drafting/engineering themed 'Revision 1' decks will be in stock soon after New Years, feel free to jump on our site and pre-order decks and uncut sheets!  You can also get a good feel for the cards on our FLICKR PAGE.  Also, after getting a huge response from opening the site a bit early and getting slammed with orders, we have caught up to demand finally!  All new orders from our site are being shipped out within 48 hours, with many orders are shipped the same day!  "

It somehow different from what I thought.
The number's font and the face of the court card somehow feeling strange.
However, I think it's still cool.

This was a very fun update for me to read over! I really enjoyed getting a little update and being able to see a few behind the scenes pictures. It's also nice to be able to see the custom suits. I for one am a fan of the pips and the court cards. (what does everybody else think of them??)

It is a bummer to have to wait until February but it'll be worth it, I'm sure. Just like waiting for the Revision 1 deck the Vortex deck will be/has been.

 • Facebook:
The overall design is cool, the custom pip shapes are cool, but those numbers and letters seem a little odd to me, like they don't blend with the theme.  A "circus" or "playbill" font or something else more Western might have been a less jarring choice.

I really like the design, it reminds me of the old western days, which means it's doing it's job. I can't wait to get them in my hands!

Howdy Pardners! In my last update I said I'd have some real news, and I do!  My Bicycle rep emailed me the digital proofs.  I've looked them over and didn't find anything wrong.  The next step is to have Bicycle print up a one-off physical proof, an actual deck.  Once I can see that the colors are perfect and everything lines up correctly I'll give them the go ahead to print up the whole lot for you guys!
She also has told me that USPCC is really busy right now with huge orders already in the works.  Apparently they got a few orders from the major retailers over the winter break/new years and it has slowed progress down a bit.  We are anticipating a late-February or early-March release for the deck.  I just want to get you guys the best deck out there and Bicycle, backed-up as they are, is the best company out there for making cards.
Here is what the uncut sheets will look like, it is also one of my digital proofs! The two top left cards are the Jokers and the bottom right two cards are the gaff/trick cards"

Ohh, and someone asked if all the queens were sleazy bar girls with boobs. Nope, see below!

I can't tell you how excited I am about this deck.  More so than any other deck in recent history...  Keeping the bicycles on the Jokers is great and the Suicide King with the gun to his head is just fantastic!!!

this is what he wrote in the comment section ... I should probably just start all over, I hope you guys don't mind waiting until July!
Haha, seriously though, I did move some stuff around and resized some elements to give it that non-uniform look. It is a deck from the old west remember!
Thanks for the input everyone!

On the kickstarter? I just checked and didn't see that comment. You've got me worried haha

I found it haha It's a comment he made on his newest update. So it is not in the comments section of the Kickstarter project, but instead in the comments of his latest update on the kickstarter project... did that clear it up?  :-\

He seems to be joking more than he is being serious. I'm sure he's making some changes, but I don't think it will really push it back that far. Maybe a couple of weeks but not until July.... I hope!

He made some comments on here on the same day and I think he would of mentioned anything serious. So hopefully nothing to worry about!

Update 13!!
Look like the prototype deck is in! Here's what Russell said,

Quote
The deck looks and feels perfect!  Bicycle has done a wonderful job matching my on screen designs with a real product.  The reds and blues really pop off the cards and the detailing is razor sharp.

This is the prototype and it is missing the CUSTOM SEAL, which I am keeping a secret until I deliver them to you.  Also, a few eagle eyed people might notice the box is not embossed, not to worry, the final product will be!

I went ahead and have given the OK to print the deck.  It shouldn't be too much longer now, but in the mean time here are a few pics of the deck to wet your appetites.  I'll have better photos when I get to my studio on Monday.

Check out the pictures...

@brown_baggs, no I didn't back the project but that doesn't mean I don't like this deck. I will try to get some later if possible. (I got no idea of how KS works until I backed the Tendril deck)

Hey everyone, thanks for the comments!

Things seem to be picking up steam on the production, I hope to have them 'soon'.  The prototype is perfect, I can't believe how great the colors have turned out. I really hope everyone likes the seal I have designed (I am keeping it a secret), anyone who collects old cards will love it!  Unfortunately the proto does not have embossing, USPCC outsources that.

I'm going to take some better pictures once I get to my studio either Sunday or Monday.

actually our shipping isn't bad

we ship 1-2 decks for only $3.00
we ship the 'buy 7 get 1' for only $5.35
and the 12 deck brick is only $11.35

we charge approximately what USPS does... we change for 'S' & not 'H'.

@magicaddictz it does smash the series 1800 deck! Although there are some major differences between the two. That was just a "vintage" looking deck and this one is both that and western themed.  8)

You are correct, sir!  I have an order in for a gross of these for resale.  I have a silent partner who fronted the cash; he gets his initial investment back, then we split profit 50/50.

I'm holding off on posting the sale until I'm actually holding the cards in my hands.

If I get international buyers, I'll figure out the costs using various methods from the USPS and let you choose which you want.  My personal favorite is Priority Mail International, since you get a good mix of speed and affordability.

I will also have an UNCUT SHEET for sale!

When the time comes, it'll be negotiable.  Soon, very soon...  :))

The uncut was sort of a bonus - if I can sell the cards at about the MSRP, my partner and I'll do OK on this deal.

We are giving away 5 sleeves for the 12 pack bricks on Facebook right now.  All you have to do is 'like' the photo and be our friend.  The box looks like an old crate with branding.  There will be more pictures released throughout the week.

I am only having 20 of these sleeves made up:
5 to give away on Facebook (this week)
5 to sell with 12 decks of Americana cards
5 to random Kickstarter backers
and the last 5 will be given away at random times/places.

It sounded like there would be a few bricks on sale that come with the sleeves. I hope that's not the case though because I would LOVE to just buy a sleeve if I don't get one from the Kickstarter  :D

Man, coming into card collecting just now - it really is hard to keep up with all this awesomeness! I missed out on the Kickstarter, but I've bookmarked the 'order' page and added as a friend on Facebook to hopefully be able to pick up a few from the horse's mouth since one can never be sure if there will be resellers in UK.

Now, just to find the Brimstone deck...
Oh, Lawd!

As I stated, I'll be selling it.  If you want to become a "UK distributor", I can sell to you in bulk!  Just keep your eyes out for when I post that I have them and hit me up for some.  My order is for twelve bricks and the uncut sheet.

One issue is one person will have twenty posts in one thread. It gets hard to get through there loquacious nature.

It really is!  I need to get my hands on an old revolver. i'll have access to one when I shoot a few decks and uncut sheets,  but it'd be nice to have one for a good photo session
That would be awesome! I'm really into photography, so when I order the Americana deck, I will probably take it for a photo shoot somewhere. Its a fun deck for many uses!

Update #15: Good news everyone!
Well, after a few hiccups* I got some great news from the good folks at USPCC/Bicycle.  The tuck-boxes have been printed and the cards should be printing in a week!  I am looking to get them in and ready to send out in the first week of April.

Amazingly, I have 29 people who have not sent in their survey. Your pledge reward can not be sent if I don't have your address.  If you havent filled out your survey or if you didn't get one please send me a PM through Kickstarter and we'll get you squared away.

On the same note: I'll be handing over the shipping info to the distribution company in a few days. If you have moved or plan on moving by mid-April please send me your new mailing address ASAP.  I will be personally mailing rewards for anyone who is getting anything custom such as a deck or uncut shot with a gun. Those rewards will be sent out a week later as I need a bit of practice shooting so I don't look like a wimp on camera!

Remember to check out my Facebook page, and be my friend!  I have been giving away uncut sheets and other prizes the past few weeks and I'll be giving away some more stuff soon! Check it out here...www.facebook.com/circlecitycardco

As always, thank you and if you have any questions please feel free to send me a PM on Kickstarter or email me directly russell@circlecitycards.com

* - Remember the pictures of the prototype deck I got in early February?  I got an email from USPCC's legal dept 2 weeks ago saying that the Bicycle logo on the front was not in compliance with their rules.  They sent me this email over a month after they approved the artwork. I had to scramble and fix it without compromising the artistic integrity. Luckily, I am paranoid about losing my artwork and I save multiple versions of my files in various stages and got the revised artwork back to them the next day.  I love Bicycle and they make the best cards in the world. I understand that that's part of mass scale manufacturing, and I'm glad they came to me instead of just changing it with their (talented) in-house artists.  BTW, here is what I had to change on the front, in case anyone was wondering.

it needed the darker outline around the word and more of a gold color outline around the whole thing.

-----edit-----

I like the way the revised came out too, i think having the darker outline (most decks have it) looks better.

I have been waiting for this deck! I wonder what would be the handling like. I hope it wont be like E's 1800 decks.

When will this deck be released? June?

I'm guessing you missed the part in the update where he mentioned mid-April deliveries...

It won't handle like the OLD Series 1800 decks, but it will handle like the new Red Series 1800 from the latter half of last year - seeing as how they're both using Magic Finish.  E calls it Performance Coating, but it's the same thing.

http://www.CircleCityCards.com/order.php

Looks like pre-orders on the site are coming very soon.  Kickstarters ship first.  I think he's doing Kickstarter retailers after the individual sales.  Then he'll ship website pre-orders, then current orders, then sold out.  (I make it sound so easy, don't I?)  :))

Looks great. Very nice. I guess it will be the first of numerous kickstarter decks I will receive. You have done it, started to restore my faith in kickstarter. Are you mailing my package first or were you going to hand deliver it to me. I do not want you going too overboard. I am glad to see all your hard work has come to this. :D

I have had a handful of people asking to see the seal better, so here you go!  It's based off an old tax stamp I found while doing research for this deck.  Apparently, Theory 11 saw the same image as I did, and used it as a basis for their new deck too!

That seal looks great. I am glad there is research going into customs seals. Many decks stay sealed now and days, so custom seals add to the beauty. Great job Russell! As for T11, the Rebels deck should be significantly different from yours, so there should not be any kind of crossing there. Awesome looking deck, can't wait to fan an Americana!

I love this seal - though that choice of typeface is more like something from the Art Deco era!  No matter, I'm sure that Americanas were "still being printed then" as well...  :))

My silent partner is becoming less and less silent - when do you estimate the decks will be out and in the hands of backers, both large-scale like me and small-scale like the one- and two-deck rewards?

It's not exactly a secret: one of my co-workers learned you could make money selling cards and we backed the Americana for a gross of decks.  They'll be for sale here soon.  He put up the cash, I put up the brains and sweat, we split the profits.

I was wondering is the brick with the sleeve going to be a separate item on the store or would it be like first come first served? I'd like to get one, but I probably wouldn't order a whole brick unless I'd know for sure I'd be getting the sleeve.

I think those sleeves are just the standard brick box he had created for the deck.  Lance Miller charged a premium for the fancy brick box he got for the Actuators, but it had a lot to do with the premium cost to him of having them made.  To the best of my knowledge, Russell hasn't made any comments about charging extra for the "purty box".  :))

He posted earlier in the thread that he's only having twenty of them made , so I was under the impression they were pretty limited. It would be great if they ended up being the standard brick box though.

Hey guys,

I had a death in the family yesterday so I wont be on much today through Wednesday.  I'll answer a few questions and comments in the thread...

1.  The standard brick boxes for the Americana cards are white.  I have 20 being made at a printer right now that will be given away over the next month or so.  5 go here to you guys, 5 on facebook, 5 to orders of 12 decks or more from the site, and 5 to random kickstarter backers.

2.  I just talked to the production manager at the shipping facility, he said things are still on track for delivery, right now it looks to be a May 1st start.

3.  I've secured a place to shoot the decks and uncut sheets, pictures and video to follow afterwards.

Thanks everyone, I'll be back soon.

Russell, my condolences on your loss.

Nathan, there will be twenty of the special custom brick boxes. The remainder will be standard while boxes you see everywhere else.  One will not get to ask for one but will receive one randomly or not at all.

Hawjinjian, when you go to the store and buy 0.25 liters of juice, do they sell it to you in a 3-liter bottle?  When you buy 1 kg of rice, does it come in a 10-kg sack?  If you buy a single candy bar, does it come in a six-pack box?  :))

I'd think that common sense would dictate that someone who orders less than a dozen decks doesn't get them shipped in a dozen-deck brick box...and someone who only pledged a buck, who didn't actually order anything at all and thus is not expecting a shipment of anything, will NOT get a brick box...

do you plan to have any packages that sell one of each deck? I only saw one selling a brick (4 of each decks), but considering shipping and all it's abit expensive for us international buyers... would love to get my hands on each of your decks (:

I am a little frustrated by the way things are being run by these guys, I emailed them back before the Brimstones were even sold out if there would be a package to get 1 of each deck and they told me there would be. Not only that but they said they would make an announcement when the Brimstone deck was almost sold out. Neither of these things happened. I am very annoyed by these guys at this point, I wanted to pick up all of these decks but now I'm considering not getting any and just not bothering with future CCC products. If they had just been honest and upfront with me from the beginning I wouldn't have any qualms, hell I would have just bought a Brimstone while it was in stock and picked up the others when they became available. I just don't like how it too often feels they are telling me what I want to hear rather than the truth.

Eyeball, everything will be ok.

The three deck package will be on the site soon.  We are in the process of upgrading the site and right now we don't have the room.  Also, the brimstone will be available too, we are tackling one thing at a time now.

Alright I understand completely, my apologies for being a little too angry about the situation. I blame it on finals week at my university, just been stressed haha. I know you guys have a lot on your plate but I am looking forward to those 3 deck packages :).

Hey Russell

I'm not sure why.. but I thought the Brimstones were sold out.

How many are left??  and how many did you guys have made?

They were sold out. However, by popular request of members of these forums and on this thread, Russel decided he would create three-deck-packages, containing on of each of CCC's decks. This is the last time they will be for sale on their site.

They are "sold out".  I only have a few left that I wanted to make sure the collectors who wanted them could get them.  The PayPal cart we use now won't let us cap the total amount of inventory, so I just pulled them off the site a couple months ago. I'll make sure forum members can get them still.

I'm not rich - I'm working with a silent partner.  He fronts the cash, I do the legwork selling the decks (and yes, the uncut sheet as well) and we split the profits on it.  I may photograph the uncut sheet for sale purposes.

Here on the forums.  If they don't move fast, then I'll hit eBay.

I'll post tonight about the sale.

By the way, on the order page of your site, someone misspelled "immediately" under the "Americana"-titled column.

Great to hear you received them 5May. I am in angst waiting for them. I hope to receive them soon. I take it yours were from kickstarter or was it a side order. Also, how many are in a gross if you do not mind my inquiry

@eggman... you scare me a little bit... a gross is 144, which is something you learn playing with fireworks at a very young age (gross of bottle rockets)... This is just one example of the decline of civilization... In addition, Don stated that he had a total of 150, 6 of which were his own... Thus the remaining gross would equal 144... Also - Google - it's a wonderful thing... just playing a lil bit, don't take it so hard... back to the post - Don, congratulations on receiving one of the most anticipated decks in recent history... I've been waiting for this deck for a very long time and look forward to receiving my decks... I may even open one of the boxes!

Forgive my ignorance, despite my desire to collect cards, I spend little time studying them. I usually ask questions here to learn. If you feel someone asking how many are in a gross is a sign of the decline of civilization, I do not know what you do when you watch the news.

hahahaha... @eggman... I said I was just playing a lil bit... I know I tend to get a bit carried away at times, but no disrespect was intended... No problem, I am trying not to engage in conflict which is easy to do. It can be difficult to determine joking around without the benefit of physiognomy online. I agree with you regarding the BBC. Also, if you like news magazines, The Economist is great which is also is a British publication.

Glad you appreciated it. Did you need to google it or did you know what it meant? When I arrived home from work today I had two packages, one containing the seasons deck, the other, the americana deck. That makes it a good day. What a geek I am, joy being brought to my life from the arrival of playing cards.

Wait a second... you got a brick from HOPC and an additional 6 from CCC... 12+6=18, so wouldn't that mean you will get 18 Americanas?

Is there any difference between the HOPC Americanas and the CCC ones? (other than the logo on the bottom of the box).

Well I didn't know if they were reprinted or not. In that case they could have handled or looked a bit different.

Don't the HOPC Americanas say "Distributed by HOPC" while the Kickstarter ones don't say anything related to HOPC on the bottom?

No Nathan. Every deck, whether you get it from Kickstarter, the CCCC website, or HOPC, all of the boxes have HOPC at the bottom.
