Hi Everyone,
It's nice to meet you! I'm new to Playing Card Forum but have been in the playing card community for a couple of years. My name is Doug Frye, a deck designer from Vienna, VA. I would like to introduce Playing Card Forum to an upcoming playing card campaign planned to launch late this month or early next month. It is a line art deck using Mah-Jongg as its inspiration. You can track our progress at https://www.facebook.com/creativevienna. Here are the three completed character images we have so far.
Thanks,
Doug

  • Pick a card, any card...no, not THAT card!

The art looks good so far - but I have to say, I've never seen anything even remotely like this artwork on a set of mah-jongg tiles before.  You look more inspired by characters (fictional or real) from ancient China.

Keep going - show us more.

Please note: I moved your deck to the Design and Development board.  If you're still polishing the rough edges, you bring it here.  When it's going to release or has launched on KS, then you start a new topic on the Playing Card Plethora and continue from there.

Hi Don,
Thanks very much for the reply. What you say is absolutely true about the court card art. The plan is for the suit markers to reflect the dots/wheels, bamboo, etc. on the Mah Jongg tiles. My research found that each Mah Jongg suit has a meaning, and so I found royalty and deities to go with them. For example, the Jack of Clubs is the god of rain. Clubs are connected to the Earth, so I used him there. Hopefully the campaign will bring it all together :)
I'll be posting more art as we complete it.
Thanks again!
Doug
