I got a half discount back from the seller. Who got reimbursed $150. And he also refunded my shipping. All in all I paid $150 for a brand new opened deck of jerrys. Not my preference but not a terrible deal nonetheless.

Introduce Yourself / Hey card lovers, new cardy here from London!
« on: August 24, 2015, 11:59:16 AM »
Howdy!

Relatively new to this site - Thought I'd introduce myself nonetheless. I'm a vintage collector, primarily among the vegas ones. However I've aquired some other antique decks.
In the last year my collection has probably increased about 10x. From a humble 30 to about 350+
My prized possessions being purple nuggets and black and gold ones by Gemaco.
Anyway, hope you're all stacking your decks and having a good week.

Lovely, surprisingly well. Helped me get over my disaster with the jerrys opening at least!

You were right about the gemaco lee.

Here's some more pics, received it today.

No problem. Story time. I'd ordered a deck from a friend in Singapore, we'd skyped loads and I took a fancy to this deck as it was in such good condition.

Anyway, I had it sent express which cost me extra but I didn't care as I couldn't wait. I missed the delivery (not that it mattered anyway) and drove to the DHL centre local to me to collect. I waited for about 45mins as they were really really slow. Got the package, got back in the car and opened it.
You know the rest.

Anyway, it was opened in Singapore on DHL's side their end. I got the number for customer relations and a case had to be opened between seller and DHL as that is who the contract is between.

The facebook post so far has gotten a lot of attention on Singapore DHL if you look it up.

Just waiting for a claim back to the seller I think, and we'll distribute it accordingly. So far he's offered to give me half the money I paid back ($330) whilst we wait, and consider it as buying an opened deck, much to my dismay.

Anyway, they're definitely real, I know as DHL have opened them for me. B*stards. Drove home insanely mad.

So so upset. Really am. Thanks Lee. Just a waiting game now. Hopefully more media get attention about this and forces DHL to really look into this.

Was so shaking with rage yesterday. Claim's already in place. They've no idea how much they depreciated the value. This was absolute MINT condition before.

What they looked like before...

What does AC mean Lee?

Ah that's awesome thanks Lee. I took a bit of a gamble at the time, it was part of a lot of 6 green cancelled decks that I didn't want atall. I was really drawn to the black one though, I've got some more pictures. It's uncancelled, complete and looks in fantastic condition. Never even seen or heard of this deck before.

Here's the other pic.

Here's the pic. I've bought them anyway, so will see when they arrive. But very intrigued as I've never seen any like this. Look like good fakes if they are anyway. What do you think? Lee Asher.

Hey all,
Finally got the energy to photo most of my collection. There's still some missing that are on the instagram. But here's most of it anyway.

This is a gorgeous collection, There are many decks here I could love to take off your hands for, you know, just to help out. Have you been collecting for a while?

Hey Justin,

Thanks a lot dude. I've been collecting for a couple of years now. But I'd say my addiction has massively increased in the last 6 months where my collection has probably tripled (much to my girlfriends annoyance). I'm always looking for new display ideas etc aswell.

Thats brilliant, thanks for that clarification. Would you have said they're worth as much as the $300+ someone has paid for them?

I feel a bit better now, for some reason I'd thought they were this insanely rare deck that I hadn't heard of. Makes a lot more sense now.

15
Ok guys, please help me feel better! I just missed out on this deck, I'd never actually heard of until a few days ago. Even on google couldn't find any information.

Golden gate vintage deck. Arco tax stamp, almost certainly pre 1965. Due to the history of the casino itself also.

Lee, anyone else shed any light on this deck? Also to it's value. I would have paid up to 350 on impulse if my ipad hadn't crashed. Would this have been worth it? I'm kicking myself at the moment that I missed it.

Link is here to the sold one with a picture.

I've just bought this box which is on it's way to me as we speak. Nice antique circa 1920's playing card box. Decks raise up as you open the box. Nice little find! Always on the hunt for new ways to display, unfortunately you really have to dig for the ones dedicated to playing cards.

Other displays I have are of the course the wonderful kingswild lucite displays and a couple of nice jackson boxes that I love!

17
Hey, no worries that;s fine with me :)

Took me long enough to finally find this forum!

I'm an absolute addict in collecting so I'll be a regular here soon enough I'm sure!

Absolutely I'd rather have the tax stamped ones. I know the Orange and Violets are only with tax stamps being type 1's and 2.
To be honest with the blue I'm not overly fussed. Obviously I'd pay more for a tax stamped one. I'm just trying to fill the gaps in the nuggets at the moment.

But I will adhere to the rules and meet the requirements to post.

All the best,
Lewis

Hey there,

Took me a while to discover this forum but I've a feeling I'm going to like it.

I started collecting a couple of years ago, not too seriously, maybe with 20-30 decks.
However, since the last 6 months I've accumulated around 200-250 decks, and growing fast.

My main passion is vintage vegas decks. Golden nugget, Jerry's, Silver slippers etc.

I'll post a collection picture/video soon when my others have arrived. Hopefully this link will work at the moment which has most of my collection - http://www.portfolio52.com/collection/238/images

I also collect boxes and stands, to display. Always interested in nice vintage and cool ways to display too!

Look forward to being part of the forum. This has become an addiction!

All the best,

Lewis
