« on: August 27, 2018, 11:23:23 AM »
Hi everyone, I noticed my new project Top Aces of WWII is not posted. I am set to launch tomorrow Aug 28, 2018 at 10am (MST). This is the second in my Top Aces series. If you missed the first Top Aces, no worries, I am making a special run for Top Aces of WWI as well.

Here is a sneak peek.

One of the things I wanted to do with The Iron Horse was pay homage to one of my most successful decks, which was the Golden Spike Black Ink Edition. The Iron Horse Standard Edition (which might be cool to call it "Black Ink edition") will be very similar to the Golden Spike Black Ink. Using either black foil or UV spot for the train and robber. Difference will be the tuck paper. Better paper now in my opinion. Also, I like the look of a 90% black tuck, not a full 100%. The black will show better.

The reason for not putting the names on the respective cards is because it will take away from the artwork. I will do the same as I have done the last couple projects and put the names on a separate card in the back of the deck. This project will come with a $5 pdf download that you can add-on that will have all of the character backstories and the short story of the "Attack on the Iron Horse" written by Ricky Cassford.

The Iron Horse premium quality playing cards has some of the most intricate details I've ever designed. This is a fully custom Illustrated deck of playing cards that has been painstakingly scrutinized on every level.

One of the most notable feature of this project is that this deck is inspired by a short story written by my good friend Ricky Cassford. His ability to creatively tell an epic story is truly awe-inspiring.

I am launching The Iron Horse on Saturday, May 6, 2017 @ 10am MST. As always, I would love to get your thoughts. I am attaching some pics of the project. Let me know your thoughts.

It was great to meet many of you at the 52 Plus Joker this last weekend! I learned so much from all of you! For many of you who could not make the convention, be sure to put it on your calendar for next year in Cincinnati. It would be great to meet you all!

So, I had to hurry back to Colorado and make some final tweaks to my next project on my next Kickstarter project, Titans. This will be launching at 10am (MDT) this morning (in a little over an hour).

I have some great Early Birds and like last time they will last for the first 24 hours. I will only be making 600 of the Signature Series packs (3 deck pack) and 400 of the Leather cases with the limited deck inside. The limited deck will only be a 1000 print run.

I have included the changes I made to the design. Please let me know what you all think.

I will be launching my next project Titans the Robber Baron Edition on October 25th. Here is a sneak peak...

On April 12, 2016, I will be launching The INCEPTION Playing cards. I have been working on finishing all of the artwork and getting the information out there and could use your help in my final few days. I am going to post the link to my Kickstarter page and would love your feedback. This is also to give you a sneak peek if you are looking to back my project. I am trying something different with my early bird specials, rewards and add-ons this time around. There will be 3 basic rewards with 3 early birds (6 reward tiers total). I am planning to keep the early birds up for 24 hours to give everyone a chance to get in on the better prices, including internationals. Your add-on prices will be based on the reward tier you decide to pledge for. Remember, if you have any questions and special requests, please don't hesitate to message me during the funding and we can work something out.

Here is the link. Please drop a line to let me know your thoughts and impressions: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/910678389/1142027783?token=da16269c

I was an hour late to the dance but managed to grab a nice pledge spot. The card backs, on both decks, look great and I particularly like the Jokers here. The LE AoS may see me finding more pledge power.

Link?  Link?  Anyone got a link?

Oh - HERE'S the link...

Jody - any chance of a reward with the Innovation deck in it?  I missed out.

Thanks Don for the great idea, I have posted the update. You can now add-on the Innovation decks onto the Devastation pledge. My concern was more for the numbers and I had not figured that out previously.

I'm not sure about selling Innovation with Devastation yet. I have not done that before. I will have to figure out the details and see if I can do it. Otherwise, no worries Don, you should be able to purchase some on my website: http://blackinkplayingcards.com sometime in October. I will let everyone know if I decide to put Innovation onto the add-on list.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Hey everyone, I noticed there wasn't a post here about my next project launching tomorrow on Kickstarter called Devastation. It is the 2nd edition to the Inventors series I started last March. The first one was called Innovation. I will be launching at 10am MDT/12pm EDT. Hope you all like what you see and that you will be there to support me in creating another great story.

Hi everyone, I just wanted to say thanks to you all for helping make Innovation have such great start. I thought I would show you the stats on my project dashboard.

Thanks!
Jody

Hey everyone, I just wanted to show you my Joker for the Golden Spike Bicycle branded deck. I can't believe they actually made a bike that rode the rails.

Will the limited edition also have a different colour for hearts and diamonds or is it just gold for spades and clubs and red for the other?
Actually, that is still being worked out. I am going to bring it up for a vote in the next couple days after I have some examples to vote on.

Hi everyone, I want to get your feedback before I launch next week on some finished artwork for the Golden Spike Kickstarter campaign. Please let me know, as I am going to use your comments to help shape the design of this deck before and during the Kickstarter campaign.

I don't know about anyone else but I'm liking the look of these. Do you have any plans to add some colour to the courts or other cards?

Well, I am liking the no color work so far. If I decide to put color in, it will be very minimal. Of course, Red will be shown for the Hearts and Diamonds.

Here is an update to the artwork for the Golden Spike. Remember, these are still works in progress, so any feedback will greatly be appreciated.

I am shooting to launch on June 1st. That is if I can get all the artwork done in time.

I sold the rights to the artwork to a guy who I met through my Kickstarter campaign. I could not do these projects without those who back me on Kickstarter. When I put my projects out there, the only way my decks get printed is through my backers on Kickstarter.

That is a nice Ace of Spades! Can't wait to see it finished. I think you should use it.

Playing Card Plethora / Re: Hipster Playing cards - (KS)
« on: February 21, 2014, 05:25:15 PM »
Ok, so I have been working on some new designs based on some comments I received. The new face card designs will now match the backs. I decided to do one (1) quote for the whole deck (this will be for the Bicycle branded deck and the unbranded limited deck) and that will be at the top and bottom in the border, making it not so distracting. I also saw an opportunity to play on the more humorous side of this, by putting Hipster jokes on the joker cards. There will be a total of 4 different jokers that will have Hipster jokes on them. I am also working on the other four ad cards. I am trying to figure out how to make them unique for the two decks.

Please give me your honest feedback.

The back design is pretty sweet. I think you are on to something. I am wondering if you should try getting away from doing this as a vector and try photoshop to finalize your drawing. I love the sketches, because it looks so organic. When you turn it into vector it looks too cartoony. I think to get that true woodcut look you need to play around with texture and shading in photoshop. Nice work! I like the idea. These are just my thoughts. Remember it's your art.
