Ouch! Where are you shipping to? I know UPS is general is pretty expensive. I'm going to take a wild guess and guess, Australia?

Those are their shipping rates to Brazil  ???

Gotta wait until those JAQKS pop up @ eBay now.

Playing Card Plethora / Re: Purple Floral Deck from Aloys Studio
« on: September 25, 2013, 02:35:09 PM »
Hey, guys. Long time no see.

I've stopped by to warn you about Aloys, but apparently I wasn't the only one who had the problem:

I didn't even receive my 04 truth garden decks, even after contacting them many many times. Ended up with a paypal dispute they didn't bother trying to defend. Besides that, these decks don't appeal at all. Will pass :)

I also have never received my 03 Truth Garden decks. I ordered a brick.
Jessica from aloysstudio doesn't reply to my emails, which is a even worse symptom.

In short, I advise you guys to stay away from Aloys.

Kind regards,

How do you know that it was fanboys that pledged?  Have you interviewed them?

Chill, dude. I was just joking by that 'fanboy' thing.

At first I thought of responding to your post by saying I've sent out surveys to those people and they all told me they are indeed D&D fanboys, but that could be taken seriously and you would demand an explanation on how I managed to contact them, etc., so, never mind.

Still, I'm serious about the part where I mentioned 8 guys (whomever they may be, lol). If it wasn't for their lavish pledges, this project wouldn't be even 50% funded by now.

This project is so powered by high roller fanboys.

The highest pledge tiers ($1,000, $2,500, $5,000 and $10,000) are currently responsible for more than 60% of their pledge total.

If it wasn't for those 8 extravagant backers, they wouldn't even have reached 20k by now.

LOL, this guy doesn't even have the decency to identify himself as the creator of the 54 To Blame project.

Despite all the uncalled-for ad hominems he's pronounced, I guess he deserves a sincere answer:

I'm sorry but your cards suck in every possible way; horribly designed, ridiculously high price and, well, WHO ARE YOU exactly to point fingers to 54 people and say those are the responsibles for the financial crisis? Or were you simply copy-pasting names and pictures here and there?

Hell, I can't even tell how you manage to gather up 8 backers. Family and friends, I suppose?

Hey guys,

First of all, I'm from Brazil, so this will most likely involve an international transaction.

I'm looking for the following decks:

(I'll buy up to 3 of each, depending on the price)

Ornate Sapphire
Ornate Scarlet
Mana

PM-me so we can talk about prices and stuff.

I also have some decks for trade, if anyone's interested. Here is what I have to offer:

2x Black Artifice
4x Blue Luxury Crown
4x Virtuoso (artist's edition)
4x Blue LTD.
2x Ornate Emerald
2x Ornate Amethyst

Playing Card Plethora / Re: Gold Arcane Uncut - for FREE!?
« on: April 20, 2013, 09:45:09 AM »
Remember, we're talking about an item that exists in SMALL quantities.  For a 5,000-deck print run, how many do you think could possibly exist?  A hundred, maybe?

I'll answer you with a quote from CBJ at UC. I think he explains it very well the history of sales for the Gold Arcane uncut sheets.

Here it is:

Quote
So.. originally they only had a few.. and only a couple were released to friends/family.

then.. they decided to sell some in the black club.. and I could have sworn they sold out.

then.. they "found" more in their other warehouse.. and sold them through the black club again.

Now.. they are giving one free to every member.

HOW MANY OF THESE F*CKING THINGS DID THEY MAKE????!!!??!??!

Not to mention the subsequent sale where they offered the uncut with it's respective deck for free.

So, this probably leaves us with the following options:

1. Ellusionist is having the biggest trouble selling their GA uncuts.
2. Ellusionist's got a way bigger inventory for the GA uncuts than we originally though.
3. Both (1) and (2) are correct.

P.S. I've just read a 4th theory from Utterfool (or theory #12, in his own words ;D), but I'll let him comment on that.

Now this one's a good fight.

After some ponderation, I decided to vote for Americana.

For fanning purposes it is my #1 deck of choice (ornates are a close #2). Nice approach on the theme, thoughtful gaff cards, very thin borders and lovely courts.

I also find the Sultan Treasury very enticing - gorgeous tuck box. Definitely one of E's coolest decks and way way better than the original Sultan. Still, I think the Americana deck's got a larger number of positive attributes.

I just wish they made it a Free Rare uncut sheet or something like that.

Maybe they overestimated their sales for this specific product and were having trouble getting rid of the GA uncuts. For the price they were selling them, I guess the uncuts weren't exactly flying off the shelves.

Ellusionist came up with a very clever way to keep low inventory levels and - simultaneously - keep black clubbers happy and attract new members.

Checkin' my email...

I know there is no such thing as free lunch, but this was a pleasant surprise.

After the Red Arcane "prototype" bullshit, I'm starting to have mixed feelings about Ellusionist.

WHo gets HUNDREDS of prototypes made??

Yep, this is so fake that I totally lost interest in the awesome product that those uncuts are.

Guess they think everyone is stupid. ZOMG THESE R PROTOTYPES!!1!

Red Arcane """prototypes""" Uncut sheets are available now for BC members.

"Recently discovered" and "misplaced in their warehouse".

I don't buy this D&Desque kind of marketing.

Dat one-way back design from Dose saddens me. Dose Redux is okay.

I'll go with Brimstone here cause goth kids would have their minds blown by it's feel of malignancy. Muahahaha.  :t11:

The only reason you're mad is that you didn't get one!

Exactly!  :P I should also add that I have spent my time furiously refreshing TBC website since the beginning; all for nothing.

I suffered from the same fate of loldudex2. I also couldn't make my order go through.

It was a giveaway to the early birds, no different than snagging an early bird deal on a Kickstarter project.  The lower tiers always go first because more people can afford them - and it was a LIMITED EDITION, SOLD-OUT deck on the lowest tier, man!  We're lucky that any at all were offered.

The difference between this kind of sale and a Kickstarter early-bird is that Amazon servers won't let you down.

I think it was a really bad choice from The Blue Crown to have a limited stock for their tier prizes considering that a lot of people will have trouble completing their orders in time - not because they were not fast enough, but due to a issue with TBC's own website.

And yes, I know it's all freebies they were giving, still, not being able to grab yours when you have dedicated your time to it - well, that is VERY disappointing, and that's bad business.

It's kind of lame to have limited tier prizes available considering the decks are limited to  just 2500. They should have tiered it correctly or seted proper quantities.

I would understand limiting (in terms of time or quantity) tier rewards for an unlimited deck sale, but not for limited release like this.

Yes, I'm mad.  >:(

Yes, I have them early.  No, I can't tell you how.. sorry guys.

That's cheating!  :(

I too think that "Winter is coming" is a mere pop culture reference (Game of Thrones). That is one of the most referenced quotes in the show and Season 3 premiered just yesterday.

So, I'm guessing the "winter" thing is just related to the fact that the new deck is snow white, not that it has any real connexion with Game of Thrones whatsoever.

It's probably the new White Artifice, though I would love if this was revealed to be Alex Chin's Winter Season deck.

The Conversation Parlor / Re: designing a work out program
« on: March 31, 2013, 07:41:47 PM »
I'd suggest you to come up with a high protein low caloric diet for her. Try to aim for something which is doable and not extremely restrictive. You know, the most important thing for a successful diet is to be consistent and, ultimately, change habits.

When developing a diet, keep in mind that a caloric intake of less than 1200kcal/day (for women) can lead to lean tissue losses and lower metabolism, things you definitely want to avoid.

I'd also suggest you to disregard cardio, unless it's something you or her really enjoy doing. People who do cardio tend to eat more after exercising. And in order to lose weight, the one thing that matters is a caloric deficit by the end of the day.

Weight/strenght training is a great choice for changing body composition as well. When creating a program, try to focus on the main composite movements: squat, deadlift, bench press, pull-up... Look up every movement closely so you can learn how to perform them correctly and with good shape.

If you want to look further into the diet/workout subject, I'd recommend you to look up articles from Alan Aragon, Martin Berkhan or Lyle McDonald. Or you could just check Ian McCarthy's videos at youtube ;)

Those courts look like some greek pottery to me.

Btw, the difference between the Jacks seem to be in that constellation-like pattern printed over them.
