Welcome back and be sure to always embrace your failures.  They teach us more than any amount of success.

Playing Card Plethora / Compass laid to rest
« on: April 18, 2013, 09:49:43 PM »
Hello everyone...
As you all know the Compass deck failed and I haven't been on in a long time.
I'm really am sorry about that. I was going to make a big excuse how I have been
working on a top secret project and and I was planning to have a big surprise
unveil or some thing like that...
But the truth is I had no computer and i couldn't afford internet for the
first two months after the end of the campaign.
And after I got my internet back school marched in and stole all my time and energy.
I'm on a break now but, on top of all that, I was just... sad
Sad we were failing, sad about all the things people said, and sad no one liked the face cards (I get that part now though).

And yet, all of this as been a big leaning time for me...
Not to give up, not to be ashamed, and most of all to stand firm and never give up.

And so Compass, be laid to rest in peace, never ashamed.
 :(
Now if the past is indeed in the past, it is time to move on.
And I have been working on a couple of projects including
two NEW decks and some magic effects so that's good.
Anyways I'm sorry,
I'm back, so hello again.   :D
TaTa for now!

Hey everybody,
I'm Ken Kayne, owner of Kayne Magic and designer of the Compass deck. Before I start, Yes I am 15 and the website up for the deck was a prototype, I was testing coding and URL assigning, etc.
The deck in the YouTube trailer was a prototype also, it was printed on regular print shop card stock and was for display purposes only (And yes, they did handle like crap!) and in no way reflects the magic finish planned for the deck.
The export process for the pics and internet do take away from the proper colors on the deck design so you may not be getting the full effect. However, the deck is rather dark, feel free to make color suggestions. I welcome constructive criticism because there’s time for changes, so please be descriptive about what you like and don’t like about the deck.
This deck dose not at all represent or copy off of, the compass822 deck by AFPCC's. This deck is new deck inside and out and doesn’t copy off another deck. I designed this deck line by line and did not use any stock clip art to make it. The design program I used was Corel Draw 4X, which doesn’t give many 3d effect options, I did what I could.
The pics are rough and not yet formatted, I wanted to give you guys some spoilers.
Here are the specs of the deck and I hope I answered some questions, feel free to ask more.
Thanks,
Ken Kayne

Playing Card Plethora / Re: NEW DECK from E
« on: September 12, 2012, 03:44:19 PM »
Hmm, sorry that I missed that.
Well I think this deck deserves its own thread, don't you?
This deck looks beast, and I hope it will come out soon.
Name ideas? What does it look like it could be called?
Or could this be E's version of the Seasons decks?
Hmm (Pondering)

No name, no info.
What do you guys think?
It looks pretty sweet if you ask me.

Playing Card Plethora / Re: New Deck from E - Sultan Republic
« on: September 12, 2012, 02:08:41 PM »
Viral campaigns can either be really awesome, or ridiculously cheesy, and I think this one falls into the latter category with the Skulkor campaign.

It says nothing about the deck, which may be amazing or terrible in its own respect.

Ken, where did you find that image.?
I got it in an email for Brad along with some other E stuff.
It looks like they also have a completely new deck that no one is talking about!
But this is the other pic, it had the caption
"A blurred king, half heart.  Join the Republic."
I guess it looks kind of cool.

Well,
I think E has been hoarding all the pics for themselves.
Sultan looks like its going to be a much simpler deck than Arcane or Infinity, perhaps to simple?
The the box looks something like the Verve deck or Black crown.
And with the whole "join the republic" thing, I'm not to sure about this one.
I hope it's good. This deck could be E's downfall.
Or the best deck since Artifice.
Only time will tell,

Playing Card Plethora / Re: Possible New Deck? ::: Cobalt
« on: September 07, 2012, 02:10:12 PM »
Thank you everyone,
but this is just something I did for fun.
I don't think this deck will become anything any time soon.
We have two other completely finished decks, and at least three other designs that are pretty
much making themselves. Those decks are already in the court card phase,
and they would come before this deck ever would.
Just thought that you guys would like to see a  little fun design I through together.
I can't make all my designs real decks.
Thank you all for this advice,
and I will be running a lot of ideas by you guys.
Thanks again,
Ken Kayne

I hate the ace now too,
but I'm to tired to do a new one.
Keep brainstorming, I need some sleep.
See you all tomorrow!

I've got dozens of designs that I will be running by you guys,
so keep up the ideas.
What would you think for the AoS and joker?
For the AoS I'm picturing something like the Infinity deck AoS but in blue.
Ok I'll go there I'll see what i can do :)

Other colors would be cool, I'll try that.
Also keep in mind that you guys have not
fully seen the compass redesign, you'll like it to.

I don't know about everyone else, but I can't even see the deck because the picture is so small.
Does this help?

Nothing against the Compass deck, but I prefer this one MUCH more, although it is slightly reminiscent of the Blue Tune deck.
Your right! I had forgotten about that one, it was a very nice deck.

Now this is what happens when I get bored and sit for 10 minutes and have fun designing. You get something that could possible be a cool deck.
This is in no way a real deck... yet.
Could it be?
Tell me what you guys think.
Thanks,
Ken Kayne
