Hi everyone!

... Love this topic - so many creative ideas!

It took me a long time to develop a display system that I was happy with.  I finally settled on using media storage shelves from Prepac (for CDs and DVDs). they are very reasonably priced and come in a variety of sizes and configurations.  I gave up on bookshelves because the shelves are generally too deep to effectively display small items like cards.

I also use acrylic (plastic?) deck boxes, top-loaders and card stands for my antique cards (left of the TV). For the modern decks (on the right), I just put them directly on the card stands.

I hope I can inspire others as they have inspired me! ... If anyone wants more info about the hardware, let me know!  Everything is available from Amazon!

PS. This week, some repairmen stopped by to look at my furnace.  They saw my card display and were totally blown away!  We ended up talking about card collecting for almost 45 minutes... long enough that they were late for their next service call!  :)

Happy Hunting!

You've inspired me to perhaps try to find a joker to complete my deck!

... Too bad no one seems to want to part with Steamboat jokers!

Hi Chuqii!

... Not sure this is what you are looking for, but thought I'd post it anyway!

I'm a bit colour blind (for real), so it's hard for me to tell 100% if this back is a match! ... Also, I think your joker might be from an older Steamboat deck ...?

Anyway, this one comes with a damaged/repaired box (top flaps missing) There is a small crease in the 3H top right corner in the photo. Other than that, I think the deck is in very good condition! ... No joker, of course!

... Let me know if you are interested! - I'll take some better pictures! ;)

Hi Jody!

Glad you made it home safely ... it was great to meet you and your wife at the convention!

My credit card is still badly bruised after Chicago - but i just pledged for a Signature Set! ... Looks like another successful campaign!

Good Luck!

Hi Card Nerds!

Here's another antique Bicycle deck that I have available for sale or (hopefully!) trade... 52/52 - no box, no joker.

I realize that this deck is not as scarce as the Tri-Tire, but the condition is great!  .... Right now, there is a soiled/grubby version of this deck on Ebay that I wouldn't even want to touch!! ... And they are asking $65 plus shipping!

Here are some lo-res photos, plus links to higher-res images!

Enjoy!  ... Hope to make a deal!  :)

Hi everyone!

It was a bit unclear after the last post, but the Tri-Tire deck is still available if anyone is interested! ... I know that over 90 people have checked it out!

I'm posting lo-res photos here.  For higher-res, use the links up top!

Thanks!

Kickstarter is where my card addiction really took root ...

With the help of therapy and counselling, I've become much more selective in backing projects!

The final RAVN product looks great - especially the embossing.  I didn't back this deck, though I've backed other Stockholm 17 campaigns.  The mini-decks were hard to resist - kids love 'em!

Congratulations!

Hi Earl!  Welcome to the club and to the forum!

Sounds like you have a pretty cool collection already - not sure I've ever seen cards from Iceland!
... Would love to see you post pics someday!

Hi Card Fans!

… OK, this item doesn’t really stand up to the other cool decks in this thread - it’s not particularly rare (these sets come up on Ebay all the time), nor is it particularly old (1921-ish, right?)

Still, it’s a good starter item that displays nicely and is a great conversation piece.  I grabbed this set because the cards are in mint condition, and, especially, because the backs are amazing! … They have really grown on me! (Ebay didn’t do them justice).  The so-so box was a bonus.

I’ve (hopefully!!) attached a photo of the set, and a photo of the ace with the 2 backs. I’ve also added a link to a higher-res photo for zooming.  The colours really pop! … especially in the blue back.  The detail of the interior floral pattern is fantastic!  Also, for the 2 or 3 members who haven’t seen the DeLuxe ace, this one is a good example …

Cheers!

Hi PCF!

You guys are doing a great job ... I'm sure a lot of people don't understand how much work goes into maintaining a high-quality forum like this one!!

My question is ... can I access PCF on my mobile device ...? In particular, on an Android (Samsung) device?

This would make it much easier to post and participate!

Thanks for all your hard work!

You probably don't follow Canadian news, but we are on the brink of a possible postal strike, which would potentially impact any deal we make!

That said, I just want to get a hypothetical conversation going - no pressure and no commitments at this point!

How would you respond if I said $50 for the opened deck or $75 for the sealed one -hypothetically speaking? That's US dollars.  I would also cover shipping. I am assuming you don't want to sell both ...?  I also get the impression you would rather sell than trade - maybe i'm wrong!  If I am, let me know what your interests are ...

... Just throwing it out there ...!

Hi Galveston Guy!

Thanks for the photos! - I hope you didn't open the deck just to answer my question!! :(

I've done a bit more research and I stand corrected! ... The ace is a Goodall design, but printed by De La Rue - c1930, as you said.

Here's the link (maybe you've seen it)

http://www.a.trionfi.eu/WWPCM/decks03/d01521/d01521delarue.htm

Your particular back isn't shown, but that's not unusual - there were many!

... Stay tuned for an offer!!

Cheers!

Hey Galveston Guy!

Wow! ... Looks like a great score! ... I guess I have more questions than answers right now - hopefully I can come back with more info!

1. Are you sure the ace and joker match the decks? ... I'm no expert, but the ace doesn't look like a De La Rue.
2. What does the other side of the box look like?
3. Can you tell what the back pattern of the cards looks like?
4. Would you be willing to part with one in a sale or trade ...?

As I said, I'm no expert, but there are many members who are ... I suggest posting more photos of the box and sealed decks so the pros have more info to work with!

Happy collecting!

Welcome aboard Galveston Guy!

I'm a high school teacher too here in Canada ... AP English.  I hope you are enjoying your summer break as much as I am!

... Your decks look pretty sweet - great way to start a card collection!! Sealed decks from this era are hard to come by ...

I posted some additional comments about the deck(s) to your Vintage post!

Welcome BigTeddy!

A good place to start your collection (and where I started mine!) is the USPCC/Bicycle website (bicyclecards.com).  You can order some pretty cool decks that you probably haven't seen in stores. I would also suggest joining their Club 808 - it's free and gives you access to even more exclusive decks! Take a look at Archangels, MetaLuxe, and the Aviator Heritage Edition - all cool and flashy!

If you are looking for something a bit more exclusive (ie. pricey!), take a look at the decks at Ellusionist (ellusionist.com). Many of these would be amazing to bring to your next poker game!

Hope that gets you started!
Be careful ... this hobby can get out of control quickly!
