Anyone here managed to get any of the above mentioned deck and have opened them? Unfortunately my cash flow does not allow me to get these collectibles. So I was wondering if I/we(as a community) could see some of them as I have been scouring the internet for pictures of them but to no avail. :) thanks in advance.

Sure, I'll do a review as well for you guys. I have never owned white lions, so I won't be able to do a comparison...I have wanted some for a while though.

If I am not wrong, the purple ones have a purple back and the UV ones have a blue back. That's from the descriptions. Haven seen any pic of them though. :(

Fair enough. Like I said, I haven't owned any WL or any DB decks for that matter...don't know why, just the way things have worked out. I am sure you could be right though.

It's very sad how many people buy decks and keep them sealed, enjoying the tuck case, and not open them to enjoy the artwork inside the deck and the feeling of it.

I agree. I think it is because people want to have the guarantee that if ever they want to sell their collection, they can do so without taking the risk of losing hundreds, if not thousands of dollars. Also, many people would rather keep there decks sealed rather than have them be exposed to humidity and heat. However, more and more we see people who open all of their decks, except for the very rare ones, and also we often see people who have duplicates so they can open some decks but still preserve the beauty of that deck.

Sinsandman if your picture is good quality, we can compare with quality pictures of normal white lions.

Odd, for some reason I can't seem to find it. I swear I reviewed those and the Red Lions but now it seems to be gone. And it's not the first review that seems to have magically disappeared from my channel either. I'll have to redo that one I guess.

It shouldn't take a lot of time to re-upload it to youtube.

With all the videos (350+) he makes and their length, I doubt he keeps a copy of them all as it would take a whole lot of space on his drive!

@Don which ones are yours?

@Joker db already said he would not do so sadly. He didn't even want to sell te blue ones in the first place.

@sindsandman I just reread the thread and realized that you said you had an opened UV one coming to you. How much did u pay it for? That was a very risky purchase as there is practically no way of telling if they are the real stuff, unless under black light as they look identical to the normal blue ones. Unless the seller is really reputable, he/she might have swapped it with a normal blue one. No offense if the seller is from here. Just looking out for one another.

I do appreciate your concern. The guy is reputable, I cross checked him. In addition, he would have needed to open a Red Lion and replace the cards...lol that would suck.

I have two Variety Boxes, so I have the red and the UV but not the purple.  I did get to see a purple uncut in David's office, though!

So where are the pictures ppl?

@sinsandman actually he doesn't have too. He could have opened the UBS and swapped them with some normal blue ones.

@don since you have 2 red WL, would you mind trading one? I might have a few magic con 2012 coming my way. Pm me if u are interested ;)

I have them in my phone, those pictures!  I'll try getting them up here today.

Already cut a deal for MCv2 decks; plan to keep those red White Lions!

UBS?  Unopened box seal? - The UV blue deck, red deck and purple deck all come in an IDENTICAL tuck box, marked "Series A Red" on the front and "Rainbow Deck" on the bottom.  To pass off a standard Series A Blue deck as a UV Blue, you need the box.  Still think you're being ripped off?  Find a blacklight somewhere and shine it on the cards!  While I haven't tested this myself, I'm 99% certain that the UV Blue decks are printed on the old UV500 stock that E used to order for all of its decks before it got too expensive; one of the stock's core features was that it would fluoresce under a UV lamp or "blacklight".

It's more effort than it's worth to create a fake, unless you happen to have the mint-condition tuck box of a trashed Rainbow deck lying around not doing anything...  :))

White Lions Series A Blue and Series A Red.

If you read the Playing Card Wiki article on the David Blaine decks, it has more information about the custom faces found on many of the court cards.  For example, all DBlaine decks have his face on the King of Spades and his girlfriend on the Queen.  Mark Stutzman, the designer, also appears on all the decks.

These are the UV Blues.  Note the dot on the box - that's a magic marker on the cellophane, the only indicator that a sealed deck contains the UV Blue.

woo. nice. so the only difference is the backs? what about the ad cards or gaff cards(e.g the double backer)?

Edit: the red ones looks sexy. Like a woman in red heels. And I have been using the blue ones for a very long time and I must say they do last a long time.

The only "design difference" in the backs is the color.  Did you expect something else?  It's not any different from the difference between red and blue Rider Backs!

Yes, I did expect there to be more subtle differences. I would have thought there would be a difference between the UV blues and the normal blues.

Oh, I figured that's what happened. :P

Its supposed to look like the 'blue one'. The only difference is that its sensitive to UV (black light).

I'm starting to wonder something here - some of you guys seemed to think that the other versions of the White Lions deck were going to be somehow radically different, like maybe Houdini's ghost left spirit writing hidden between the little "db" symbols or if you hold it to the light in a certain way you'll osmotically absorb all of David's magic secrets...  Even photographic evidence doesn't seem to be enough to convince some of you otherwise.

The "rainbow" decks are a different COLOR, period - and in the case of the UV Blue, it's not even that; it's the same color on a different stock.  If you were expecting dragons, unicorns, fairies, hookers, Secret Service agents, skulls, supermodels, the British Royal Family, etc., I am very sorry to disappoint you, but you're out of luck.  Every other aspect of the decks is one-hundred-percent identical to the standard-issue Series A Blue.

Well put Don. XD

And to add, not just the look, but the feel of ALL of the different colors is the same. They're made on the same stock with same quality control.

...with the exception that the UV Blue is on a UV-reactive stock, which I've been assuming is UV500 since it's the only one on the market I'm aware of with those properties.  Regardless, it's equal in quality to the other stock being used, which I'd guess is a fine Aristocrat stock on par with what they're using for the Tally Ho deck these days.

My bad, Don. Must have overlooked the pics you posted.

Everything Don was is correct. Tis only but a different stock, everything else is a normal White Lion in a Red tuck. However...limited as hell, so I'm good with it :t11:

Don't sweat it - your pictures looked cooler!

But honestly, Siegismyname - what were you expecting?  What did you think was going to be different between a blue deck, a red deck and a purple deck?

I was thinking maybe the ad card or gaff card would be different like it was for the split spades. And also I wanted to see the shade of purple that was used, which so far has not surfaced as of yet.

Let me make something a little more clear.  These were NOT made anything like the Split Spades.

For this particular deck, all of the colors were a single run off the same plates.  For the UV blue, they just switched the paper.  They started with one color in the machine for the one-color backs, probably blue, stopped in mid-run, swapped out the blue ink for red, then continued the print run until it was completed.  The purple shade you're asking about isn't a single shade of purple - it's the transition from the blue ink to the red, once the blue ink was replaced with red and the remaining blue ink in the machine was being forced out by the supply of red ink.  The purple decks are practically a different shade from deck to deck!

So, aside from color, every single deck is identical, because they were all printed from the same printing plates.  No wacky gaff card changes, no weird ad cards, no bonuses, no omissions, no nothing.

Can anyone put these under black light?

Sure.  You buy a black light, ship it to me and I'll put them under it.  Do you need my mailing address?

Good luck with that.

You are aware that the AIP comes with a red and a purple deck, right?  Ones that AREN'T sealed in bottles?
