Hey Everyone,
I wanted to get some feedback from those of you of a tattoo I'm designing for a close friend of mine. Its a long story between us and will be the only two people who know the true meaning behind it, but I would still love your input on the design. She will be getting this on the lower left pelvis area.

It looks pretty good. If I was to get the tattoo I would want something that made it a little more unique. Overall it's good though. Not my type of tat, but not bad. If I was to change anything it would be to add something so that it isn't like other ladybug tattoos

She doesn't want something so different. This will be her first tattoo and will probably be the size of a quarter.

No legs on the design. She will be getting it as you see here color and all. Adding the legs kind of gave it a creepy feel to it. More like an actual bug rather then a good luck charm you know

I thought the eyes could be slightly smaller. And for some reason I always like the ladybugs with one of the black dots at the mid-line.

I like it, but I think the spots are too symmetrical. I think they should look like they are randomly dispersed across the back.

I like it but I think it could be a bit more intricate and/or complex.

I thought all the spots on ladybugs are meant to be symmetrical? I don't think I've ever seen one that's not...

Well then, I stand corrected. I just looked up pictured on Google images, and I learned that you are right. The spots are symmetrical. I can't believe I've never notices that before.

Dang! No way! You learn something everyday I guess. I think that it'll look good with color, even though I'm not a big fan of color tattoos

Is she going for cartoony or realistic? If cartoony then this is great, but I would make it so the spots are in more random places. I know it has to be symmetrical, and t still can be, but I feel the dots should look a little more "random". Am I making any sense at all?

I would personaly make the lines thicker, and either make the body a little shorter or open up the wings a little. It looks a bit too plain to be right now, and that would give it some energy.
Also, with the style you're going with, you might want to remove the lighting effects, they look out of place. Solid colors would suit the overall look better. And don't be afraid to go a little less realistic, stylized tattoos are the best. :P
As for the spots, the biggest ones should be in the middle to give it more balance. The big spot in the back looks a little awkward to me.

Edit: The head doesn't have to be completely round either. Give it a little more shape. The black part of a ladybug actually has two parts, the head and a portion of the body. You don't have to represent that completely, but making the head a little less round would give more dimension to the overall shape.

I also think that Moon's suggestion is a really good idea. Good luck with the tattoo!
