That's fine - I'm busting your chops a little.  Looking forward to seeing the actual cards.

For a while there, the trend was to go with cards that have no borders at all - especially the courts.  But adding the borders like you did and having that embellishment under the index - simple and elegant - gives the deck a somewhat Victorian feel in my mind.  It's cool, I like it.  The size of the indices also looks nice - large and in-charge without actually being jumbo.

Thanks for the feedback Don, the pip sizes are larger because from Four Beasts experience they are too small.
I agree there is a slight royal theme to it and hopefully it can tie with the diamond theme.

Here is a King of spades decided to distinguish the number cards and court cards with a gold border instead of silver.

It's nice.  I kinda felt there's enough distinction between courts and spot cards, but if you feel more is needed, OK...  :))

Just busting your chops - it looks cool!  Typical standard decks have no frame on spots, simple black frames on courts.  You have silver and gold instead.  It makes your design stand out more - but don't go too crazy with the framing!

I think i'll keep it without colour so it looks more prestigious.
Tried it with a touch of gold and it blends in too much with the borders

How do i add this to your contest :D

Not sure what you think about the name thing though....any feedback for that?

Edit:Maybe ill put my signature in foil instead... don't think this is appealing to the playing card community.

First, edit your first post in the topic to have (2DDC) in the topic name to indicate that you intend to enter your design.

Second, read the rules.  The contest formally starts accepting entries on July 29th - it was postponed by two weeks to allow more time for more entries.

As far as the name...  Make sure no one else is already using it, or add something to it to make it more unique.

They're the sponsor of the contest - without them, there is no contest!  When they stop printing the winning deck, the printing rights revert back to the winner - and in most cases, a custom deck only gets a single print run and that's it.  Giovanni Meroni did exactly the same thing last year for his Evil Deck, now on sale at CARC, when he won the contest, and has done more work with them as well - he's happy with the arrangement.
