  • Pick a card, any card...no, not THAT card!

I think my definition of suitable isn't the same as Harry's.

If I played solitaire or poker with these, I'd have a headache within five minutes.

It looks, though, as if he's aiming more at the "high design" market than at collectors.  I find it a little funny that he talks on his page about how pleasing and friendly he thought cards were as a kid - and today he's ripping out a lot of what made them that way with this new design.

Hello --

I received a lot of feedback from card enthusiasts to the effect that the buy-in levels were too high. I had been thinking in terms of getting support for a design project and the difficulty of getting enough backers, whereas card enthusiasts here and elsewhere were thinking in terms of essentially acquiring one or more decks. That seems like a fair complaint to me, so I have closed the initial rewards and established new ones.

The one-deck reward level now begins at $12.

I appreciate what you had to say and hope you'll consider the deck.

If I'm  not mistaken, he's the creator of the Suitable deck.

I appreciate that you're considering the feedback! But the problems with the deck run deeper than just the reward tiers. I'd recommend that you drop Don a PM or email. He's probably the best guy for design and project consultation.

Harry, I merged your "I listened to the Discourse" thread with this original topic. We try to keep post about each subject together.

I'm glad you listened to some advice. The pricing is an important part of any project. There are a lot of knowledgeable people here. I hope you stick around, and ask questions. Sometimes people get caught up in there projects, and can't see what's wrong with them. They need an outside eye to help. It sounds like you're open to suggestions. That's good. Please take criticism with a grain of salt, and know that it is not personal. Good luck with your project.
Last night I stayed up late playing poker with Tarot cards. I got a full house and four people died.

Thanks, Steven. I have to become more familiar with the way the posts operate.

I received this in a note from Simon Wintle, the founder of "World of Playing Cards" -- a UK site [ http://www.wopc.co.uk/ ]:

Your card designs are really excellent and we like the original approach to visual experience.
