Lorenzo Gaggiotti is a double threat this year - nominated for Deck of the Year for his work on the Kickstarter-funded deck project House of the Rising Spade, he's also up for Artist of the Year for his work on that deck as well as the Kickstarter-funded, three-deck release of Ravn Series 3, a collaboration with Swedish magician Caroline Ravn.
Gaggiotti, known as Stockholm17, created the studio, Requiem Team, named after his first deck project, which was on Kickstarter in 2014. He has since been known for his highly detailed, fantastical artwork and House of the Rising Spade is no exception. Creating two different but related deck designs in three packages with printing by two different companies, Cartamundi and USPC, he lavished the cards with metallic foil and metallic ink, as well as having his tuck boxes created by none other than Lotrek of Oath Playing Cards, who is the creator of this year's club deck.
Ravn Series 3 was initially planned as a two-deck release, Mani (blue) and Sol (yellow), the campaign achieved a stretch goal and released Eclipse (black). Again, the tuck boxes were created by Oath Playing Cards, with a lovely matte finish with metallic foils..
