Originally published in 1902, The Expert at the Card Table is now considered the bible of card technique. Students and scholars have coveted its contents for over a century. Although their have been many editions printed over the years; few quality, hard-bound versions have been produced.

Featured on the back of these new playing cards is a true-color replica of Erdnase's green book.
With the influential green spread across the court cards in the deck. Most of whom are new faces, and Experts in their own fields.
The finish of his deck is customized, smooth and time-honored. With production humidity, ink weight and storage researched with as much care and attention as the card table artifice from the book.

I like the deck, although it seems to get a lot of hate, due to its simple design and marketing hype.

I don't think its hate, but getting tired of little effort / effortless design deck.

Sort of like running out of ideas

I like the deck, although it seems to get a lot of hate, due to its simple design and marketing hype.

It gets a bad rap because it's very low in originality.  Ellusionist in the past made some very creative, original designs - these are as dull as dishwater and the hype tries to make them sound like the greatest thing since air when they're anything but.  They're not even a good magic deck - I can see this conversation taking place a lot...

Spectator: Gee, nice cards - what's "The Expert at the Card Table?"
Magician: Oh, that's the name of a century-old book on magic and sleight of hand, still used by magicians today, though it focuses mostly on cheating at gambling.
Spectator: Oh, so it's a magic trick deck, then?  Where are the marks?  Or is it one of those "stripper" decks I played with as a kid?
Magician: -sigh-

This is a truly awful deck of playing cards, IMHO. And I'm not just saying that because my first deck started clumping after one day of minimal to average use.

If this was the 'Eurovision Deck Contest`, I, personally, would have scored it zéro points, or pas de points. Okay, maybe I'd have given it trois points; 1 for S. W. Erdnase, 1 for 1902 and 1 for LL. After all, she's adorable. Then again, so is BK.

Anyway, no originality at all and, once again, from a purely personal viewpoint, I'm sick and tired of those damn court cards.

A fitting tribute to magic's most famous stranger??? More like an homage to a certain individual and their friends. I mean no offence to the individual or their friends, whatsoever, but it's true.

It would have been fitting to have had the entire deck in a setting more conducive to the period itself, namely 1902, not 2015.

These could have been so much better.....
