Mine came in a while ago, and the quality is outstanding.  Very fun deck.  My kids got a kick out of the face cards.  Tried to explain the homage to my wife, and she just rolled her eyes.  No, she doesn't understand my card addiction. ::)

I dropped in at the right time, as one of the early birds opened up, and I'm in for 4 @ $46.

Full bleed, four different color faces.  Not ideal, but I like the design!

Luckily I remembered, and ordered one of each within 2 hours of launch time.

Just arrived, and I opened the blue-sealed deck.  Nice!  Great deck, for $10, with full custom everything.

Sorry, I have no photography skills, nor a decent camera.

Playing Card Plethora / Re: Sharpie-ing the edges of your decks
« on: March 05, 2015, 02:25:49 PM »
If anyone gets down to this page, I have a suggestion for the Black on Black decks.

I took the sharpie and put a groove in the tip by pressing it against a dull knife edge.  This made a sort of track for the card, so that there was minimal slippage when running it down a card edge.

I've been able to get about 2-3 decks for a new sharpie.

I've done 2 Shadow Masters, a Seasons black deck (purchased used, so I didn't alter a new deck!), the black Dia Des Los Muertos (Edgy Bros.) and a Quicksilver.  All looked great.

Sorry, I don't own a good digital camera, so you'll have to take my word for it.  They looked comparable to the previously posted black decks, though.

Kingdoms of a New World, funded in 2013, but just now delivered.  Does that count?

By Mortensen Games, artist/s Jonas Akerlund and Nathanael Mortensen.

I just found ONE deck at a Wal-Mart in Arkansas as I was visiting home for the Thanksgiving Holiday.  I looked through their shelves and couldn't find another.  I got a red one.

I may have to ask my brother to look through for a few more.

Having only one, I'll keep it sealed, but I'd love to find one to open.

Lots of great detail in the courts.  I don't mind the pips, actually I quite like them.  But, for some reason, it just doesn't grab me, as a whole.  The tuck is a little too "pieced together" as in the elements don't gel well.  Can't quite put my mind on it.  Maybe too sharp of transitions between the parts.  The contrasting colors don't work?  I don't know...  I want to like it.  The sum of the parts just doesn't add up to enough for me to need this deck.

Maybe a total recolor might pique my interest.

I read that last post quickly, and seriously thought I read, "...that's not crowdfunding, it's retail in a clown costume"

A brief LOL, wtf moment.  ;D

Anyway, I'm tempted to invest in my first brick, as I really like the design.  I just hate that this may not fund.

I had determined that I was done for a while.  These will have to be an exception.  Setting a Calendar reminder for myself...

Hey, it's only 4 days 'til the next month, so it can count for October's budget, right?

The Conversation Parlor / Re: Playing card horror stories.

The best deck I was glad to see ruined was an Ellusionist Shadow Masters.  I brought a few decks of my "Open to display and play" decks to a camp where I was a counselor for kids in the foster-care system. (troubled kids with crappy life stories)  I knew the decks would be played with, admired, and then given away.  One of the kids I had (out of 2) was a 12-yr old boy who was just getting into card magic tricks.

He flipped out over the Shadow Masters deck, and I quickly told him it was his.  He spent the whole week messing with the deck, and by the end, it was chipping along the edges, sticking together like glue, and the box was demolished.  He enjoyed the heck out of that deck.

I also gave away a Circle City Hornets deck, a Bike Blue Dragon-back, and a set of UNO cards.

I have since bought another deck of the Shadow Masters, and a card clip.  I may have a chance to see the kid again this weekend, and he will have a new deck to "ruin."  Can't wait to see his face.

All I got was uncut Luchadores and Panda Tucks.   :-\  I need to figure out what to do with those.

I'll probably get the Norwood uncut.

Playing Card Plethora / Re: Cthulhu Mythos Playing Cards (KS)
« on: August 13, 2014, 03:03:25 PM »
You'd think I'd be done with Cthulhu by now.  One of the first KS projects I supported was a Lovecraft deck.  I've since pledged to 2 more (of how many?) and have yet to receive a single deck.

I'm burned out, but the problem I'm facing is not over-saturation, but lack of fulfillment.  I happened to be reading Lovecraft when I discovered Kickstarter, and was quite excited.  It literally "kickstarted" my path to card collecting.  I may always have a soft spot for "The Great Old One" but this is getting ridiculous.

The art is not bad, though...  I especially like the AoS.

So, how often do they offer cards?  I've signed up for their announcements, and seen some pretty cool stuff.  Not that I can afford most of it, but there are a few things I'd like to pick up.

Couldn't swing the cash for these, but I did pick up a red Royal Optik deck, to round out my collection.

Now, just waiting for the Hotcakes!

Wonder who got the grand prize...?

17
8 pledged, still running

23 paid for, waiting for delivery,

1/23 probably won't ever be delivered

I added up how much I've spent in the last year.  Yikes!!!  I need to cut back.

I actually just cancelled out of 2, and reduced 2 more.

So want this deck...

Awesome!!!  This is the deck I voted for.

Just did the survey.  Thanks for taking our thoughts into consideration!

I'm currently playing with the seronda deck, at my computer while typing this.  Stunning... one of my favorite black decks.

I would have loved to get one, esp. at the pre-sale price.  Just couldn't hack it...

Now Uusi is coming out with some guilded decks in Gold, and Silver.  That's something that will be even harder to resist.

Cool!  I just picked up my first set of Seasons v2 Platinum about a month ago.  I found a set of opened decks I picked up today, that I can take out and actually enjoy.

Really looking forward to Verana and Inverno...  Probably more so than any other deck (that I can afford) this year.

Being new to collecting cards (less than 2 years), I've yet to pick up a Typgraphical deck.  These I could see in my collection.  (Hey, it's a black deck!) In for 2, one Branded, one not.

2 years ago, I might have agreed on some of them.  I've since become much better educated.  I do want to find one of those insanely hard-to-read Black on Black decks, though...and the Fraggle Rock deck is pretty cool. :)

Another nominee for the "real" top 30:
