Are the hearts purposely shaped different from each other?

Yes they are. The spades, clubs and diamonds are the same. Back when they were created cards where hand drawn for each person who wanted a deck. As well several other current decks have this characteristic.

I like the courts, too, but I don't like the non-identical identical pips.  I'd prefer identical hearts.

I like this project simply because it clearly had hard work put into it, is purposefully different from the majority of stuff out there while still being usable, and has some artistic merit. Well done, I say.

With that, I'm in whole-hearted agreement.  But I still prefer the hearts to be identical!  :))  Ben, you have a good deck on your hands here, better than a lot of stuff that passes for playing cards on KS.

Thanks everyone, very happy to hear it!

Thank you Sher143!

Wow Mr. Carpenter it is an honor to have you say that. I have always loved your designs and admire your dedication in building Encarded. If you ever need some illustrations I would be thrilled to help!

Mr. Boyer  thank you very much for giving me the opportunity to share it. If it were not for your hard work in helping run Aether's the first dream would have never been imagined.

I agree on the four pips and making them identical. Thank you for the heads up. Here is a preview of them on the tens. Hearts look much better.

Backed, awesome design, i really enjoy all facets!
Starting to get better...have to stay dedicated...can't lose any more cards in the middle of a trick.  Literally, completely lost a card.

While not every project is for every collector, and I am as picky as they come, I just want to say that it's darn near a crime that this deck looks unlikely to be funded, but something like the the blue Fontaine pulls in $60+ grand.

I know that the elusive "marketing power" plays into these things, but the mindset of collectors really boggles my mind at times.

I'm pretty upset these didn't fund.  They are easily some of my favorite cards I've seen on Kickstarter since I started collecting.

I think it's because the description page seemed quite empty. With such few completed art at the beginning of the funding, I was even hesitant to back it. Now that he's finished with all the art, I think more people will jump in.

It also helps when the deck's creator is more active in promoting it.  I've seen great decks languish because they simply weren't promoted well enough.

I tend to agree with you. Still being honest, the tuck is terrible. It's the composition of the design that makes it so, ugh. The word "Choice" being top center is fine as is. The words playing cards should be smaller and bottom center or smaller and off center in the bottom. Framing the whole thing in an outline of the back border would class it up a bit. As it is, the words fight with one another and make it unpleasant to look at. Fighting styles will always have that effect on the eye without being broken up in some way either by size or color or both with an offset. The courts could use a little more color, like the jacks are sporting. They're fashionable without being tacky. I like the plump heart on the ace but it's shape either creates an illusion that it's lopsided or it is in fact lopsided, minor tweak could clear that up.

I'm in for a brick, may drop to six decks, won't bang it up to 2 or 3 bricks though. I want to play with them it's just the little things that keep me from 'really really' wanting to play with them.

I didn't think there were any people left who purchased by the brick!  :))

I actually like the tuck.  It's just VERY different from just about any other tuck I've seen.  I'll grant you, that's highly subjective.

I don't know if I'll get any, though.  There are a LOT of decks coming up soon and I still have a car I have to buy...

I appreciate the back design on these. Super simple, but still interesting enough. Plus his KS video reminded me of my entire life, although I'm more dedicated to music, but I will pick some of these up I think.

As someone kindly reminded me on UC with a post of their own. Always scroll down and look at everything haha. The courts on these needs to be reworked a bit imho. The King of hearts for example has two left hands and arms. Further inspection revealed many other issues with the courts art.

I like the choice in lack of color, but when I took a couple minutes and looked at the courts themselves... I just can't. Pledge has been dropped for those reasons and the tuck. There's too many good decks coming out for me to go there. If the issues are fixed, I'll pledge again.

Btw, the heart on the ace is indeed lopsided, it's not an illusion at all.

Yeah, looking at everything is important.  Thing of it is, his art is so TINY on the project page.  I'm talking itty-bitty-teeny-weeny...

Any time I'm actually planning to buy, I look a lot closer.  There's not too many decks I buy these days, unfortunately.
