I would like to know how to get around this problem, when ever I try to download something it asks for the Admin password (my dads) and i want to get around that, and possibly make myself an admin as well, PLEASE HELP, IM TRYING TO DOWNLOAD MINECRAFT AND ITS NOT LETTING ME!!!

Please, for a moment, stop and consider just a few niggling little details:

1) The ethics of what you're considering are questionable at best, and counter to the wishes of your parents.

2) At some point, they're likely to discover what you've been doing - are you ready to deal with the consequences of your actions? Do you want them to never trust you again?

3) Do your actions violate any laws where you live in regards to cybercrime? Are you prepared to deal with THOSE consequences?

Don, I don't think #3 applies to anything, because unless his parents press charges, he can do whatever he wants to the family's own computer.

Just tell your dad your predicament, I had the same thing growing up. I got him to MAKE me administrator because he was sick of having to type it in 5+ times a day.

If you REALLY need to bypass it, you can do it without hacking by using the computer via your dad's account when he leaves it up, and simply changing permissions so that admin passwords are not required for downloads.

Or you can follow whatever guide Moon.exe sent you (which by the way, is not against our rules to post).

I used to know how to bypass login passwords on 95-XP (it was really easy) but they actually took the time to make Win7 more secure. Who woulda thought?

True, but if what he does makes the computer vulnerable and his dad works in certain fields, there could be repercussions outside of the home. And also, he's in Australia - the laws may be very different there than here. Our version of legal and theirs may not match.

I just want him to be aware that his actions have consequences; if not legal ones, then certain familial and moral ones.

I see what your getting at Sabacc, but if i download something like skype, i need his password, if i download picassa i need his password and it really annoys me.

on the FAMILY desktop, i got my mum to log me in to her user so i could sort things out, i made myself an admin at that point for a game called combat arms i used to play and it took my dad at 8 months to realise i was an admin

But he DID realize. How did he react? Was he pleased? Upset? Couldn't care less?

Consider that a gauge of how he'll react this time, except this time you'd be a repeat offender.

#F has a point - save the bucks, buy a computer of your own.

Hold on. He DIDN'T care?! Meaning you could probably just ASK him for access?? HAVE you ASKED HIM!?!?

You want to go around trying to breach his computer's security when you could simply say, "Hey, Dad, can I have an admin account? I keep installing programs and failing when it asks for the admin password."?!?!?!?!?!?

Didn't you get a laptop for school a while ago?

You could just ask him to change your privileges on his admin account to be able to download .exe files. As long as he trusts you not to flood the thing with viruses...

i have asked him to give me admin privileges on my school laptop but he sad "you do not know how to admin a computer" WHEN I WAS ADMIN AT MY PRIMARY SCHOOL IN FRICKEN YEAR 3!!!! and that was for apple macs, which is harder!

Lol at 'admin a computer'... never heard it put like that before. Year 3 primary school, as in 6 years old? I doubt you were an actual admin. Apple Macs are not harder to administrate than other machines. Honestly, I wouldn't trust you with my computer (no offence) and in fairness, it isn't really YOUR computer, so you have no right to have those privileges. As admin, however, he can control your access privileges without making you an admin, so you might be able to do more things if you get him to chane your settings. Or, just get him to download the stuff and make it accessible to all users.

The easiest way is to ask your dad to download what you want.
If it's nothing bad with that, he will have no reason not to download those for you.

Then all I can tell you is save up them bucks and buy your own machine. His dollars paid for it, it might as well be his computer. I'd avoid the ethical dodge (or is it dodgy ethics?) of bypassing his password to gain admin access, but hey, that's me.

im with Sabacc, it goes againist ethics in my opinion to bypass it, he set the password for a reason. As you said he does not want you to play minecraft.
