Title: Minor fixes
Post by: Curt on October 03, 2011, 07:15:48 PM
People can post minor changes they would like to see to the forums here.

I'll start, I haven't taken a huge look at the forum but I think the dropdown that is shown when hovering over "My Messages" and "Profile" and ect... need to have better colour contrast between the background and the text.

There is programming going on as we speak. Over the course of the next several days you will see big changes occur. :]

Just for safety concerns, is there a way to keep my Facebook account hidden?

If you go to your profile, under Modify Profile > Forum Profile, at the very bottom you should see a textbox with a link to your Facebook profile. Just remove the link and it should be gone.

Kind of an odd issue where part of the forum says I am not logged in while I actually am.

I took a screen shot

Can yo make it so we can see who is on-line, and who is not?

You can already do that. Notice the box to the left of the individuals user names. White = offline, Green = Online

Also, if you go to the "view the memberlist" option under the "members" tab you can see who is online.

Also, if you are on the main Discourse page and look at the very bottom, it will show the users online, and if there are any guests.

Quick suggestion,

Would it be possible to disable the ability to double post? ( not allow the same user to post twice in a row on the same thread ). It would just help reduce useless posts, and teach people that there is a thing called and edit post button.

I realize this is ironic since I am currently doing this exact thing in this thread, but my reasoning is so it will show up as a new post and either Alex or Peuan will notice it.

Thanks

Double posting is allowed for the exact reason you just demonstrated, as well as bumping, article-style posts, announcement posts, etc.

At some point we will be looking for a board moderator to issue warning for people who consistently break etiquette.

Which brings up another point - I should make a thread about etiquette.

Fair enough. I guess the advantages do out weight the disadvantages thinking about it a little more. I agree that an etiquette post is necessary, especially for people who have never used forums before. I appreciate the effort on the part of Aether to try and manage their forums in a professional, yet friendly manner.

is there any where that you can see how many posts people have done?

There are a few ways to look at users post counts.

1. Look under their name or avatar
2. go to the "Members" button at the top and select " View memberlist", there you can view every user and their post count, you can even sort by post count.
3. Near the bottom of the main page, there is a button marked "More Stats" in there you can see the users with the highest post counts and a bunch of other stuff

Hope that helps.

You can change the clocks in your profile at any time. :)
