Since every other deck under the sun is listed here, I thought there might be some interest in something different...

I think this black deck has a little more visual interest:

That's interesting to see! The images are actually 3d Models that are flattened. The white lines are outlines of the 3 and 4 point Polygons that make up the model. This is usually done so an artist can create a texture map that will lineup perfectly with the facial and body features. I like that they took an everyday thing in the 3d world and made a unique deck of cards out of it!

thanks, Randy

Both are Interesting decks! With the first deck, although it's a bit overpriced and the back design is not really revealed, I love the Crocodile-styled case. With the second deck, although I believe the back design lacks the visual appeal even though I like the symmetry, I do like the fact that the decks is a step out of what you would normally see. Who knew someone could make something awesome out of basically lines. Is anyone planning to buy one or both of them?

Yep, I was referring to the second one, Paul's link. They aren't just simple lines. Someone had to build the 3d Model, use an unwrap filter to flatten the model and then Render it out with just the edges visible.

The first one with the crocodile case is pretty sweet too! It looks like the PIPs and Indices are printed with a varnish layer and maybe a spot black over the black card stock.

thanks, Randy

  • Pick a card, any card...no, not THAT card!

Both decks are made of PVC plastic.  No paper.  I actually have the Alexander Wang deck - it was among the samples Rajas Paranjpe sent me from Brahma; he produced it for Wang.  The red suits are ALSO black, so it's not the most practical deck, but it's meant more as a prestige item.  The surface is textured, but smooth where the suits, values and back pattern are.  The back is just "Alexander Wang" on a single line of text across the middle.  No, I did not get the fancy case, just the cards, so I could evaluate what work Brahma could do.  If forced to guess, I'd say the pseudo-3D deck is also monochrome - the fact that it doesn't show any red-suited cards leads me to that hypothesis.
