Title: Gold Playing Cards
Post by: JoaquinWilmot on November 03, 2011, 08:15:52 PM
I have a deck of REAL gold playing cards, and I was wondering if anybody would want to see them. If so, I can take a few pictures and upload them here.

Since you have already made the thread, I am sure many of us would like to see your deck of gold cards. Maybe give us some background knowledge behind them if you know.

Sounds VERY expensive!

Heres the story.

My stepfather was deployed in Bahrain for approximately 7 months, and during the time there he bought a bunch of stuff. Gold in Bahrain is significantly cheaper there, and when he went to a jeweler, the guy was selling the cards. I will not disclose the price of the cards, but lets keep it at "very expensive".

Anyways, I'll get my camera, take some photos, and upload the cards in a while.

How thin are the cards? ( not exact measurement, but are they thin or thick?)

They are about as thick as a normal deck of playing cards, but in the hand they feel pretty heavy

**Guy's, I'm having trouble finding the cards, but not to worry, I WILL PUT THE CARDS UP! I'm not lying about having these cards, so if you would just be patient, I wouldn't doubt that the pictures should be up today.

That's exactly what I'm wondering......

Hahaha, they're in my house here, I've been going up and down the stairs very angrily, not being able to find the cards.

Mine looks like those, but they aren't the same.

My cards come with a normal gold case, just like any standard deck would have.

Alright, I found the cards about twenty minutes ago, and just finished taking the photos. Sorry to make you wait longer, but I'll be uploading the photos tommorow, just for the sake of time.

See you guys,
Joaquin

Looking forward to seeing them. This sounds like a deck I'd want to spring.  ;)

Since gold is do soft, they will probably just bend...but it still sounds cool.

They are suspiciously similar and cheaper than other gold deck available.  The others come with a cirtificate of authenticity that says "99.9% 24k gold".  These come with a wooden box that says "999.9 Gold playing cards", so they could be lemons but if they're actually 24k gold, this is a steal and the value will only increase.  They look beautiful, either way.

EDIT; I've found identical cards being sold in a different (nicer?) box with a certificate of authenticity for over $100.  I'm sure these are exactly the same cards.

Alright, I'll upload the photos within a few hours. Watch for them you guys!

Some additional info:
-The cards bend easily
-I don't believe there is any plastic inbetween the cards
-The cards are made directly in the jewlers, not in a a factory

To anyone looking to buy these:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/24K-GOLD-PLAYING-CARDS-WOODEN-BOX-AND-2-JOKERS-/170627715892?_trksid=p5197.m7&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D5%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D3957513004960015984#ht_1062wt_1129

I actually have a deck of these, and whilst they claim to be "Guaranteed purity of 99.99% Fine Gold Plating" what you get is a plastic deck that has pretty much a gold sticker on it. When they say gold plated they mean a minuscule amount of gold dust has been mixed in with the fake stuff which they then painted on the front of the deck.

The deck smells like PVC glue, the wooden box is not lacquered but made from very cheap materials the kind you find in a $2 shop. I would not recommend buying this deck for $60
