The most common cause for that sort of problem has to do with file size. I've found that if I keep my images below one megabyte that they usually upload smoothly. Anything bigger than that is really overkill and can stretch out download times for people trying to view your page. Too big, and they won't even be accepted, resulting in an error message. All this is despite the fact that the file attachments section specifically states you can post images up to 5000 kilobytes - I think it's lying.
Additionally, you'll want to check that the file format you've chosen for your images is a file format that the forum is compatible with. There's a list of acceptable file extensions in the section where you attach photos to your post. I know from personal experience that the board will accept JPEGs, for example, but only if the extension is .jpg, not .jpeg.
