So, I was talking to my fiancée about my deck collection (we've been long distance relationship for the past four years, so she hasn't really seen me get into it yet!) and she mentioned that she remembers a deck of cards her uncle had when she was a young girl. I thought it would be good to try and find those cards so that when she gets here later I can have something that will both ease her into seeing my expanding collection and will give her fond memories.

All the information she gave was that they were transparent and had blue in them - whether that's the pips or just generally I don't know. I am wondering if any of you know of any such cards. I don't really want to ask for any more info as it would be nice to act like it was just a passing comment so she gets surprised when she finds it.

I guess more relevant information is that is is likely to have been between 10 and 20 years ago, and she lives in Brazil.

A quick search led me to these cards:

I wonder if there are any more that you know of that could fit the description?

There's a contrasted version of the Bicycle deck you posted. Blue Ace, and red Bicycle banner on the box.

Okay here is the first plastic Bicycle deck that I had in blue/teal. Maybe it's the same one, I don't know.

That was the first plastic deck I had ever seen. I had a couple deck of them about 10 years ago or so. It's been a while so there's a chance these could be the ones your fiance had. Hope this helps!!

I have about 3 different clear decks, none of very high quality.
People say nothing's impossible, but I do nothing everyday.

Today I found something that reminded me of you. But don't worry I flushed and everything went back to normal.

I have the ones that CBJ posted. My dad bought them somewhere for me. For a plastic deck, I love it and its very fun to use. My only problem is the one way back.

I'm not aware of any transparent paper. Translucent paper/tracing paper, yes, but I doubt you could find such paper that is thick enough to be used as cards and remain translucent.

Thanks for all the input, guys. I'll maybe try and pick up a few transparent decks and then if my fiancée sees one and is reminded of the cards she used when she was younger then I can say I got them just for her. 8) If not, then, oh well, there's a nice novelty about them that would be good to have regardless.

Yes, it is possible but it wouldn't be waterproof unless we put a waterproof coating on it, making it now handle as well anymore.

There would be no need for it to be waterproof. I don't own any paper decks that are waterproof....

I would check out that blue one I posted about! It's been around for ages and it's one of the first transparent deck I ever saw! Hopefully that is the one she had back in the day. Best of luck to you!!

Are you thinking of creating a transparent deck?

I'd look carefully into just a solid plastic deck.  The transparent decks are usually made of cheap PVC, and even when handled carefully the soft plastic has a tendency to scratch, effectively rendering them marked.

I have a blue transparent Beltone deck which has hearing aids dressed as court cards. Very odd looking so the fiancee probably would have remembered that part.

There is a Kikkerland deck that is the same as the Mickey deck digipunk showed, but without Mickey on it. They are called Crazy Cards and create interesting moire patterns (the lines interfere with each other) when 2 or more cards are held together. No blue but worth seeing.

I spotted a blue transparent plastic Hoyle deck on eBay earlier today.  Maybe that would fit the bill?

Or maybe just getting a handful of different blue decks for her would work?  :))
