All Sold Out!!

I think they sold out days ago.

Heres what T11 posted 4 hours ago,

"As of this morning, the red edition of JAQK Cellars Playing Cards are officially sold out! Enjoy - an instant classic."

So I don't think they sold out days ago.

Loldudex2 and I were chatting away about this deck on one of the deck review topics and I thought it would be more appropriate to have that chat here instead.  Here's what transpired...

One thing that is being missed in the reviews is the fact that the box is not embossed like the blue jaqk box.  This made me upset, however i really do love this deck.

Glad I'm not the only one that noticed. It really did make the blue box, really beautiful and elegant. I have no idea why they didn't add it.

Simple guess - increased costs.  Also there's the issue of production policies that change like the breeze over at USPC.  Earlier this year they stated they'd no longer be able to do deck boxes that are embossed on BOTH sides.  It's as if they had the technology and somehow lost it, never to be found again...  :))  More seriously, though, they probably found it was more error-prone than it was worth.  You might have received all perfect-looking blue JAQK boxes (or close to perfect at the least), but how many percent of those produced had to be culled for defects while still at the factory?  We just don't know.  I can't imagine you'd have been any less disappointed if the box was embossed only on the front, would you have?

Actually, if USPC still has that policy, then next Monarchs print run is going to look rather disappointing...

This is just a wild guess, Don, but were the original decks (before t11) made by USPCC? The most I could find is they were made by an "unnamed casino card manufacturer". I feel this would make a lot of sense, and when t11 reprinted them, they used left over tuck boxes from the first run (which is why the bottom of the box reads 2008, when they were released in 2011, and why there is a one way back on the box), and possibly now for the red version, te boxes were made in-house at USPCC, where the might not have the tools and technology available to make that fine detailed embossing.

Does that make any sense at all, or am I just completely wrong and misled?

Actually, you could be completely correct.  USPC is known for reusing old, extra boxes like that.  I have some decks, common stuff like Tally Ho and Bikes, where the box said Cincinnati, but the cards inside said Erlanger.

No matter how you slice it though, they had the technology to make boxes that are embossed on the front and back - clearly they were doing it in 2008.  But now they're not.  It's like some civilization using "black box" technology that suddenly breaks down, and the people who were using it no longer have the knowledge of how it operates, and thus can't fix it.

But we're starting to clutter up this review page, when these comments would be better suited for this deck's topic on the PCP.  If you'd like to continue, please start it up there and I'll follow you.

Actually, I'll make copies of these posts we've made and drop them over there.

If you have something to add, jump right in, please.

So, what are your impressions on the deck? Which of the two versions do you prefer in design colors and handling? Also, since I wasn't home until they sold out, how much did they cost?

I love this deck!!!! It's much more striking in comparison to the blue, but I have to say I do prefer the blue to the red... Probably just me, but the red JAQKs we a little rougher edged out of the box, but they handle pretty much the same as the blues, top notch. I'm quite sure they cost $6.95 maybe $5.95, I'm not too sure, I bought 6 at one go so I cant really remember past the shipping costs and all. If you missed out on the release I don't mind trading you one, just send a message my way ;)

I got my decks and I must say, they have become one of my favorite decks design-wise. They handle really nicely and unlike most decks.

Did anyone else's deck come in this order?

Nope! It's cool and interesting. It reminds me of that blue Artifice v2 from a month or so ago, only this has all the cards, just mixed up a little.

I have just sent you a PM.
Evan, that's funny you got your deck in that order. Probably a little error that slipped through Q1. I've never actually experienced something like that, but this is pretty fun to see.

I like this deck a lot. The case is beautiful and it gives a chance to those who hadn't the chance to buy the first version to own a very nice version of this deck.

But what I wanted to know is: do anybody knows how many decks were printed? I didn't found that reference anywhere.

This is just a pure guess but knowing these lasted for 3 days, that they had these were medium to highly wanted, I'd say there were around 10,000 decks made. That's what I think. It isn't one of the rarest, but it isn't a really common deck. So I'd say something like that.
Now that they will more than probably do multiple runs for resellers. So they can certainly go up to 20,000 decks or more.
