Title: "Party Proof" Playing Cards (KS)
Post by: GBAllison on February 21, 2013, 07:40:15 PM
Wow.
OK, here we go.
"Liquid Proof, Crinkle Proof, 50x more durable than regular cards! Washable in soap and water!"
A whopping $20 per deck.
That's it. No other pictures, no early birds, no international, no manufacturer yet, and the rewards are straight multiples of the $20/deck price.

Talk about trying to take advantage of the market.... I swear you can achieve the same results and get the same deck of cards with a purely plastic deck that can be bought for all of $6. Plus, I'm not a fan of large print decks so that's an auto-pass for me:)

American based company in Florida with high tech printers that can print on the material?...

Hmmm...I wouldn't call them crinkle proof (maybe crinkle resistant, but I'm pretty sure that my Bicycle Prestige cards (or Kem's) will do the same thing. The Bikes were $8.

Am I missing some other big benefit on these?

:o OMG!  Bicycle did this already and it's cheaper!  Never mind his complete disregard to marketing.

Isn't there already a name for this? PLASTIC playing cards? What am I missing here?

Exactly my point! Why produce this in the first place? Then the next question is, do you really expect people to buy this for four folds what you can get the exact same thing for??

Forgive me for being terrifically blunt, but this is the absolute DUMBEST idea for a deck I've ever seen.  This shit-for-brains thinks that he's invented the wheel or something - how fucking clueless is he?  Or is it that he thinks we're the ones that are fucking clueless?

I feel absolutely no pity for the mental rejects that invest in this project.  They deserve to be parted from their cash.  In fact, they deserve to be institutionalized.

(That felt GOOD...)

And to top it all off, 20 DOLLARS!?
I'm speechless. The sheer audacity of it all...

This is so bad I had to watch the video. It's amazing that he won't say plastic, just "Material". Like he got ahold of some classified NASA or military stuff and it's not PVC or cellulose acetate. Just ridiculous.

I just had to comment on his video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I1VivpeqnXI&sns=tw%20

He doesn't even know what he's talking about and can't even market his own product as to why it's so 'good'.

agera94, yoor comment about the video piqued my curiosity, and I had to go watch. I only made it through about 1:30 of it before I couldn't take anymore. You owe me that 1:30 of my life back! :-)

Joking aside, it was bad. He barely flexed the card and then bragged about bending it every possible way and it snapped back. Wow...

Now he's calling them "Party Proof".  Call it cowpies or manure, it still smells just as bad...

I hope he's not assuming that plastic and water proof equals "party proof".  My poker buddies literally destroyed a two-deck Kem set I brought to the game one night.  Because we weren't exactly 100% mature back in our late-teens/early-twenties, there was a lot of shouting, high spirits and "chest thumping" around our table, which sometimes called for hands to be slammed to the table at full force.  It was how I learned that Kem cards are not shatter-proof or even crack-resistant...  It got worse when they started throwing them...

He added a FAQ about how these cards might differ from other plastic cards on the market.  Astonishingly, he takes the opportunity to explain how "flimsy" the KEM brand is, how the *ink* washes off of most plastic playing cards, and adds that these cards will "eventually" have "female models on every face of the cards"--as though that would make them "one of a kind."

Quote
While some may be water resistant, these are actually able to be washed in soap and water without affecting the graphics on the card.  [...] KEM cards are self proclaimed as the best plastic cards in the world, however, I've used them and didnt care for them. That's my opinion of course, but they felt really flimsy to me and not as durable. I'm also putting my own twist on these with my own company graphics and eventually will have female models on every face of the cards. People will find that more appealing and they will truly be a "one of a kind" deck of playing cards.

He also changed the rewards and added "drink coozies w/ logo" and "t-shirt w/ logo" to some of the higher-level rewards. He doesn't link a Facebook account, but his Twitter link shows him trying to recruit "52 hot college girls" to model for his playing cards. "Get advertised as a model NATIONWIDE and make awesome money!"  Amazing, in a stunningly train wreck way, because as you read the tweets it gets worse and worse.  And worse.

And even though 7 backers seems like none at all, even those look suspicious to me.

Everything I learn makes this worse.

Funny thing is he is using GoldWin Poker playing cards on his video (you can even see the card's box over the table on the right side of the video). So it is already commercialy available and there is definitely nothing new about these cards.

Oh, and that thing on finding female models on twitter is hilarious. At least we can get some entertainment out of this.

"52 hot college Girls"

I think this guy is just using this deck as a "legitimate" front to start up his porn business.

He certainly isn't putting in the effort to make it a card business.

So tempting to make a fake Twitter account and message him some random nudes from Google, then just post his hilarious requests for all to see.

I have no doubt that 6/7 of those backers are his friends/family, and the last one is just him with a new account.
