Thank you for the reply. I hate to admit my naivety but I was not even thinking of counterfeit cards until I read this thread. Makes sense though, anything with value has fakes. With your info, I have handled enough USPCC cards to know the difference. I have some Grateful Dead cards I picked up as the dancing bears and steal your face look great. The cards are definitely not USPCC and feel like wet cardboard. If the difference is that noticeable it will not be hard to tell. I shall applaud you for the quick response my good man. :D

I am always impressed when I see people find decent playing cards at a flea market. I always look when I go, never happens.

Hello, I am noticing your comments about the fake Wynns. I just purchased some brown Wynns which are about to arrive. Are there alot of fake Wynns being made. I think the guy I got them from is fine but now I am curious about these "fake" cards. How would one be able to tell?

Someone got me on Amazon with the shipping nonsense. I wanted some graetful dead playing cards and saw them listed for 2.99 a pop. After I ordered them I found shipping for a few decks turned out to be $14.99. I only blame myself as I did not look at the whole thing but still.

Well hopefully if it is really limited, they limit the amount anyone can purchase do that people are buying bricks by the dozen for profits and so that everyone else can get their hands on them!
Thank you for bringing that up. Why do not we see more of these companies limiting how many decks can be puchased. Regardless, some people will always be into this for the money and get decks just to sell on Ebay. I always like to get between 3-5, I will admit I may think of selling one if the prices go high or a friend wants to do a trade but I think most true collectors would be happy with a 5 or 7 deck limit. I am sure there is a reason for this not happening and some of it has to be on the profit side for the company. Ah, what the do I know, I am just a middle class white guy. ;D

I just wish people stood up for principle more than looks, value or other things of that nature.

I regret a lot of my purchases in playing cards, if only because they were made to resell something. Now I lack the money needed to purchase the modern releases. New cards come out every week, and I guarantee this release will not stand the test of time. Resellers are making quick cash, but after the real ones are released, you can only sell an open deck since it seems the boxes are identical. Everyone who bought one for these crazy prices right now will either enjoy the cards if they are a true collector, or fall flat on their face when they try to resell them.

Also, is it confirmed that it's black ink instead of gold ink? I'm pretty sure Bayme said the real ones will look almost identical and that the only difference is the lack of metallic ink. Gold will remain gold, and subtle metallic features are only visible up close (i.e. Artifice).
Excellent point. I have had this debate with myself on several occasions. I recently picked up a couple of decks (Brown Wynns and SMv5) I was seeking for some time but now that I have them (actually I do not have them yet, transaction in progress) I am not going to focus so much on that deemed collectable. You are right, as we see decks are comming out all the time, one could argue to often at some times. There are enough (future collectables) to choose from. As others have stated if you do not get in on the next 2,500-3,000 release it is not the end of the world. I learned alot from the Red Artifice. When I could not get it I felt like I missed something big and had to get it on Ebay. I am glad I have my one deck which I will never open or sell but if I did not have it I do not think things would be that much different. It is easy to get caught up in the hype. Perhaps, from time to time, I will seek a collectable deck if it catches my eye but I would rather try to find the new releases which there are plenty of that catch my eye. :-X

Will there be enough decks for everyone who may want the deck?

From the pics I see this is gonna  be a mean deck of cards
That would be nice but I highly doubt it. It seems the usual move now is that they are bought out by people to resell them. Makes it hard for some of us to get the 3-5 decks we desire. Such is capitalism

CBJ, that is beautiful work. :D I hope to see more of it in the future. I am going to raise your Karma on that one. I am going to applaud everyone who appreciated you on this thread.   I tried to get everyone on this page extra Karma. I hope you will notice that your day is better tomorrow. :D

I do not think this is a great idea. You could upset one person and he could remain  >:( for some time, he could then  :o to his homies and do drive by hits. As for me, The love I take is usually equal to the love I make despite the fact I can be A complete  :P at times.

I think these Gargoyles are stunning. I think all off Lances' work is great. The problems rest in the fact that I just can not get everydeck I see.

The Conversation Parlor / What is this Karma thingy
« on: November 07, 2011, 07:02:18 PM »
Hello, I tried to do a search and I could not find the answer. I am sure it is written here but being knew I am not yet sure how to navigate around. What is the deal with this Karma +0/-0 thingy. What does this signify, who decides it. Seems a little weird but their must be some sense I am missing to it.

I see what you mean. In the short time I have been here I see alot of posting for the apparent reason of posting. I do not mean to critique anyone, I have not been here long enough. I see you give away things to those who post alot so that gives the incentive to do so. Again, just observation, not aimed at anyone in particular. I am guilty of the "is this limited" thing. I think many of us new to collecting think this is the main point of collecting. It is later on when we see things like the Vortex, Americana and the Actuator that we begin to appreciate the art involved. What I am saying is let people evolve. I know it is happening to me. Along with that, alot of collectors will remain interested in only those cards which will be rare and of course there will always be resellers who want to make a buck.

Yeah that clears it up. I should have researched it a little more before I said that. Thanks for letting me know!

Eggman, I know relatives and other people close to me who are fighting the battle with cancer right now and I don't find what you wrote very funny. I'm sure that you didn't mean it be rude, but that fight isn't something to joke about. thanks.
My family member  had a battle with cancer. It sucked, but they made it through. I hope the people in your life have the same success mine did. I still stand by my statement. Cards will not help anyway. I also apologize for how that hit you. Certainly did not mean to bring anything painful up for you. Once again, best of luck to you and your family, I know how tough it can be. Also, thank you for all those who defended free speach. That is very important and I am glad it is brought up. Still, I have no issue apologizing if my statements brings angst to anyone. The bottom line is, if I was lost in the woods and freezing I would not even use the cards as fuel to light a fire. Even though it would be good to burn them. (Is that better?)

If I had cancer and I found that rubbing these cards on my chest would cure said cancer, I still would not buy them.

Yep, this happens to me all the time. Everymorning I decide what deck I will put in my porper clip and head out with. Some people use stress balls, we use cards. I have broken them out at meetings at work. They have helped me many times.
