I see Fate Stay Night. Are you watching Fate/Zero? Part 2 releasing in Q2.

Nope, not yet. Been really busy so I don't really have the time to watch anything . I will though once I have more free time.  :-\

LoL. Skip Beat rocks. Its more of a chick anime but after I watched the first episode, I couldnt let go because its so damn funny.

Haven't been watching anime lately but I've been reading a shit load of manga. I'm always updated with Naruto, Bleach, History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi, One Piece, and Hunter X Hunter(though the story line is kinda going downhill).

All time anime favorites are:
Initial D (Anime for the Big Boys)  :D
Trigun
Prince of Tennis
Midori no Hibi
Skip Beat
School Rumble
Rouroni Kenshin
Death Note
Slam Dunk (I still wish they continued the anime series)
Gate Keepers
Hajime no Ippo
Fate Stay Knight
Elfen Lied (Might be too gory for some)
School Days (R18 and kinda gory too)
Hyakka Ryouran
Ichigo 100%
Samurai 7
Eyeshield 21
Gundam Wing and Seed
Shadow Skill
Dual: A parallel dimension

There's probably more but I'm going to stop at that. I'm a sucker for the japanese culture  :P

Nope. They were sponsored by a distributor here in the Philippines so part of the production is going to them to sell in their stores for a dollar more than the pre-order price.

If the big names would, however, print more than a 10k run of a fully custom deck and keep it in production
You mean like Artifice and Infinity? ::)

Touchè  :)
But I really hope that there will be more than that. I know it's hard since independent designers doesn't have unlimitied funds. Much like what Don said, if independent designers do have the funding for it then we'd all be enjoying more fully custom decks out on the market.

Playing Card Plethora / Re: What does your social circle think?
« on: March 02, 2012, 09:36:50 AM »

Family: Doesn't care. My youngest brother has a couple of tricks up his sleeve but it's mainly for icebreakers. He doesn't want nor consider himself to be a magician.

Girlfriend: Need I say more? She's here in the forums isn't she?  :P  I love you Lara-chan! (Shameless PDA)

Friends: They're having a blast whenever I perform tricks to them. They know I don't perform everytime I'm with them so they don't ask. They're really supportive. In fact, I have a close friend whose mom always invites me over on Christmas day and perform for their family and friends. I don't get paid but hey, she's one of those moms who're really cool and hangs out with our group of friends whenever we're at their house.

Oh and since a lot of people are complaining about hecklers here, I decided to make a topic on it because I'd be off topic if I blabbed on it here. Here's the link:

Enjoy!  ;)

Magical Cardistry Bonanza / Dealing with Hecklers
« on: March 02, 2012, 09:33:18 AM »
Hey guys! Look! My very first topic!  :D  LoL

Anyway, I decided to make a discussion about this because (1) I did not find any, (2) a lot of people were are complaining about this in Alex's "What does your social circle think?" topic under Playing Card Plethora, (3) it's off topic if I post it there, and (4) it's a part of a magician's life.

I'm just going to pull my own bench here for a bit and I hope you guys won't mind. It's purely for the purpose of giving some of you guys a tip on how to deal with hecklers.
Now, I myself am very paranoid. Whenever I perform, most of the time I think that I'm going to mess up or someone is bound to catch what I'll do so whenever there's a heckler, I get really nervous. That's just the way I am no matter how much I get better at it. The main reason is because of how I started out with magic.
The very first tricks I learned are David Blaine's Two Card Monte and the Ambitious Card where a bent card "magically" pops up to the top. The reason why I named David Blaine is because I learned it from him. Well not personally but I actually reverse engineered it just by seeing it once on one of the earlier TV Specials he did. It's not his fault. In fact he performed it quite well. It's just that I happen to have a well developed attention to detail that I managed to do so. Due to that, I get scared of people with the similar capabilities.
In order to remedy this fear, magicians I've met advised me the same thing Don suggested in a different topic. Compose a routine with several tricks and work them as close to perfection as you can. And so I did but still the fear remained due to the increasing number of hecklers that tend to pop in at that moment when you are performing a trick to a different group of people you have already did to them(hecklers).
It wasn't until I picked up Robert Giobbi's Card College series when I learned that there are different versions of a double lift. I later found out that modern innovators have also come up with such. I decided to give it a shot. With each ambitious card routine, I perform a different kind of double lift. With each card ditching, I alternate between the palm, the tenkai, and the gambler's cup. Despite performing the same tricks, I found hecklers to be less noisy when I do a different sleight.
And so we come back to the golden rule of magic, never perform a trick twice. Well, maybe not the same way twice.  ;)

What about you guys? Any heckler experiences that you would like to share and how you overcame them? C'mon! Fess up!  :P

Seems like the market is very biased towards #2 these days, as that's almost all that comes out of the big names and most of the smaller guys.
I chose #2. Well IMO, the most likely reasons why #2's are more popular are the price tag and the availability. I mean sure if you can afford to buy a brick of fully custom cards, the next problem you're going to have to face would be that they're not there forever so it kind of makes you think twice about using them.
If the big names would, however, print more than a 10k run of a fully custom deck and keep it in production then I wouldn't hesitate at all.
Unless that happens, then I'm sticking with #2 or go with the ever so popular Tallys.  :D

Well, since you formally introduced yourself, I will formally welcome you to The Discourse even if you were here before I was.  ::)

Welcome! Like alex said, its always better to interact than just observing. That way we can all get to know you better. Since you've already lurked, you might already know the hot topics we have here so just pitch in. We can always use another hand at the Cardistry posts in the Magical Cardistry Bonanza.

Welcome aboard! Don't worry about the post count. It's not really that big of a deal. It's not like you're going to get kicked out for not being active enough. Just relax and join in on the topics whenever you can. Though we do urge you to post as much as you can since that's where the fun starts!  ;)

Mine would be more on the foolish side. I took a brand new, newly opened deck of Shadow Masters to work with me and did a couple of tricks for some of the bosses. One of them decided to try and mimic what I did so he can figure it out. I was practically new in the company so I couldn't say no plus I didn't have any other deck with me. My world pretty much went into slow motion when a few cards slipped off the deck while he was handling it and hit rough concrete floor, corner first. They now have a perpetual white mark on the upper left corner of the face to this day.

Hey guys! Welcome aboard the boards! Huh?  ???

Anyway... I can't reiterate enough what they just said and trust me, participate enough and you will definitely find out what they meant by fun.  ;D

Just sit back, relax, and join in on the topics. I'll let your experience speak for itself.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm still thinking about getting it though. My funding is really low because of my compulsive deck buying  :P

Magical Cardistry Bonanza / Re: Good Parlour Tricks

If they're pretty cool, try geek magic like Wayne Houchin's thread, rising voodoo doll, etc. You'll knock 'em all dead (Not literally I hope...)  :P

But if you want a pretty mellowed down presentation, it's up to you if you feel like doing table magic, close-up, or stage. So what's the plan?

Introduce Yourself / Re: Newbie
« on: February 24, 2012, 03:37:13 AM »
Wow! You did better than I did when I started.  :o

Anyway, I pretty much joined for the same reason with an added intention of taking advantage of the plethora of brilliant minds in the forums. I'm also working on a custom design myself so I wanted to get as much input as I can. When I joined though, I pretty much got more than what I bargained for. The people here are all pretty interesting and fun so I'm having a blast. I'm sure you will too.

So before anyone else says it, grab your most comfortable computer chair, kick back and relax. Join in on the discussions and I'm sure you will learn a lot so welcome!  :D

Thunderbird is a piece of crap. It said it sent the email but wasn't able to save it on the sent items. There are some cases when I get that message that the email doesnt really send so let me know if you got it.

Thanks!
