This pains me very much to post...

Dear friends and family,

It's with great sadness I share the news that Tom peacefully slipped away today, March 22nd , at 1:30pm, surrounded by our loving family.

Although his illness was brief, I had many special moments with Tom over the past two weeks, as did all of our children, grandchildren and even our great grandchild. We were with him constantly and although he was sedated, we believe he knew we were there.

The funeral will be held on Monday, March 28th at Our Lady of Lourdes parish at 10:00am. Further details about the funeral and visitations will be sent in the next couple of days.

We thank you again for your messages and prayers; they were the greatest comfort to me.

I will miss him.

Judy

Judy, my sincere condolences to you and your family.  My thoughts are with you at this difficult time.   I'm sure I speak for the whole community when I say, if there is anything we can do, just ask.  We're here for you.

Damask Stock is mighty fine stuff.

It is indeed Don.  John Van Der Put and I spent a decent amount of time with Bill to find the right stock for the Piff deck that would be softer than the classic/master stocks that we're all familiar with EPCC.  It was about a year ago that we settled on the Damask from EPCC for the Piff deck....and I couldn't be any happier!  They have great a great spring and snap to them...handle very well...and we've had the decks in the hands of many professionals who have all given the deck and stock a huge thumbs up!

I think we'll see more decks coming from EPCC in the Damask stock simply because it feels more like what we've all been used to most of our lives with Bicycle...but with a finer cut and sharper registration.

It was a great read, well done!  I always look forward to new editions of the Card Culture each month.

I love this!

This is all fantastic news Lee, thank you for updating us on all this!!   I really hope to make it this year as it would be so amazing to meet many you in person.  This TV show i'm producing will still be in production over the course of the convention, but i'm going to try and work something out so that perhaps I could get there even for just one night.

Nice work!

7
Quick update folks....the Piff Deck officially reached its goal. We also posted new add-ons and stretch goals to glance at. Tons of fun things planned!

Thank you everyone for the support.

8
Don't get me wrong, even though I said it is expensive I love it and already backed 2 of it on the first hour you released it on KS.
It is just unfortunate I can only get 2..

No worries at all Hank, thank you for your support and of course I meant no disrespect with my post.  Just wanted to express how unique of a deck this has become and why it is priced the way it is.

Thank you everyone for your kind words...hopefully this deck becomes a very real thing.  It's been fun making the prototypes, will look 1000 times better after it's been produced.

9
Thanks for the post Rob.  This has been a very fun deck to produce with Piff and his artist Claire Blackledge in the UK.  We took on a lot of challenges to make it possible, and thanks to EPCC and Kickstarter...it might all become something very real.

This deck is purely for Piff the Magic Dragon Fans...and Piffus
But I have to admit this deck is expensive... even after considering the table tuck

You're right Hank, as far as playing cards go, this is on the higher end of the spectrum however when you consider that every single court card is original and unique artwork, pips redesigned, back, tuck, 4 custom gaff cards with artwork, the tuck engineering and artwork, and the die-cut Harbin table card engineering, it becomes a 58 card deck that simply has a ton to offer to fans of Piff and fans of playing cards.

That being said, this deck was always designed for Piff to use in his show during performances and of course for his fans...I knew going into it a year ago that playing card enthusiasts may not be as warm to the idea of this deck and that is certainly okay.  So many decks out there now for all of us to find something we truly love :)

There's some here if anyone is interested. A real bargain, so don't miss out

That's outrageous... shipping for just ONE deck to the UK is 20 dollars?! Lol.

Haha, well technically it would be $20 for 3 decks shipped...he/she is making about $6 off the shipping rate which could be used for shipping materials (bubble wrap, boxes, etc).....BUT if you're paying $900 for these three decks...you probably don't care at all about $20 shipping.

(go ahead, ask me how I know this, says the guy who's spent about $8000 in postage the last two weeks...)

Just about to do the same in a month...starting to prepare now haha.

« on: February 06, 2015, 01:37:27 AM »
Looks like the the Zen version of the limited Imps Gamesters - or vice versa - not sure which was designed first. Perhaps they were developed together....

The truth is both decks were totally independent of each other.  When I was visiting NYC late last year I was showing Bill the artwork for the Gamesters & Limited Edition Gamesters and expressed what I had in mind for them with the gold and silver foils.  He said it was a great idea and then showed me (and gave me) a deck of the Zen Pure Golds...after seeing it in person, I knew I was making the right decision.

13
Yes, really wonderful job Tom, Lee & Don!  Looking forward to future editions!!  Thank you for all your hard work and contributions to the world of playing cards!

14
After a wonderful discussion with Don & Paul, I've made significant changes to the indices for the Gamesters.  I really believe this is a much stronger and useful approach to four corner indexing.  Paul's clever design worked well on Deco's and he was generous enough to give me the thumbs up on incorporating the design into the Gamesters.  Much cleaner and far more effective.  Looks really pretty when fanned in either direction too!  Thank you everyone for you input and support!

Kickstarter launches Monday, December 15, 2014 at 9am (pst) / 12pm (est)

15
You could try to do something like Encarded's Deco deck.

Funny, was on the phone with Don & Paul this morning talking about this exactly.

16
Yeah, that Joker, Ace and tuck are just plain awesome.  The back is a bit plain and I believe they are pretty much standard courts so my interest level personally isn't there on this one.

The courts are the same from the original Whispering Imps decks but are completely different from the standard Bicycle courts....these are a much older design.

Alright...I'm back....Hi everyone!  Been a busy year with work so I apologize for not contributing as much as I'd like to the forums.  Finally ready to launch the Gamesters.   I'll be raising funds on Kickstarter for this deck because it's a brand new design (and not a recolor).  I funded the Whispering Imps® Black Edition & Private Reserves myself because (for the most part) the artwork stayed the same and I didn't feel right using KS for funding a recolor.

Gamesters launch on Kickstarter Monday, December 15th.  Below are some photos that I'm happy to share with you of the new deck.

Enjoy,

-Chris

Sounds like this has been answered multiple times...or at least the top playing card fulfillment options have been listed.  You'll get quality shipping from KWF, GW and Art of Play....I don't know about EFulfillment...but CARC decks are sent out through KWF.  I don't know about Art of Play policies but it would make sense that if your deck is in their store...they would work out a deal with you to fulfill the orders from your webstore also.

I wouldn't let a no response from Jackson get to you...he's a great friend and a very busy one at that running all aspects of Kings Wild...I can't imagine all the emails he's getting between all the projects and products he's produced.  Don said it best though, KWF will get your decks sent out and delivered flawlessly.  GW also has great packaging for shipping from what Eddie told me.

For over a year now I've sent the Imps out by myself using bubble sleeves for the decks, inside Indestructo boxes and then inserted into bubble mailer envelopes.  Never had one damaged deck as a result.  Shocked sometimes at just how poorly some decks are shipped to me.

You won't go wrong with any of your options listed in this thread....Paul at JP will take good care of you for the UK markets!!

Playing Card Plethora / Re: Gatorback Riders from David Blaine

DB is smart...as long as his cards sell like hotcakes, he's be remiss not to at least consider multiple colors. I don't get all of the hate against re-colors. Not everyone likes all of their decks to be blue. Or red. Multiple colors give folks the opportunity to purchase potentially new an unique colors, one of which they may greatly prefer over the others. I really like these cards, and have a "quantity" of each. That said, I do like some colors more than others. I bought more of the greens than the blacks because I like the design a lot, but I have a lot of black cards, so it's almost more of the same. You have to think of colors like designs. USPCC cards are pretty much Bike or Bee stock. Your collection might be 90% Bike and 10% Bee. You keep buying because new and exciting designs come out for the cards, the cards that feel the same (for the most part) as the last 50 decks that you bought. It's the same for colors. They feel the same, it's just that some people really prefer one color over another. I think that's great, that buyers aren't limited to one color but rather are given the opportunity to buy other colors that may become available. I wouldn't mind seeing more colors of exotic designs. If you simply must have a "Full set", you're going to spend some coin. If you're buying for fun, you may select one or two colors, and pass on the rest. The key point is that there's a choice, just as you have more choices than a Rider Back to purchase from! DB can print all 16.7 million colors if he'd like, more power to him. In this day and age, especially with the recent innovations of foil on cards, raised inks, printing inside of tucks, die cutting tucks and cards, you name it, I welcome any and all decks, even re-colors, that are released for my consideration. It's an exciting time to be a fan of cards and collecting! Enjoy the ride!

I couldn't agree more BiggerDee!  Blaine has a wonderful way of designing cards with Stutzman that allow for wonderful color changes.  That being said, the GatorBacks look best in Green simply due to the nature of the subject (the same way the Imps look best in red due to the subject)....I do love the shade of red used for the GatorBacks in the photo above...not sure if it's metallic or not but it pops nicely.  I imagine the gator on the front of the tuck to be in a red foil.

Playing Card Plethora / Re: Encarded Standard (preorder coming soon)
« on: November 07, 2014, 12:25:07 AM »
Here is another little shot of the tuck. It will have some clean embossing and foil. I enjoy designing boxes so my plan is that if I do a new edition someday, the cards will be mostly the same but I'll do a completely different box just so I have the chance to try new ideas. This one though is pretty cool; rather minimal and clean, with a little vibe of vintage to it. The little bit of foil really pops nicely to raise it above a super-basic "staple" deck.

Really loving this Paul...exciting to see another new deck from Encarded.  Clean and Retro!

Just received a brick of these because of the private reserve promotion. I had previously bought some but hadn't opened any yet, so decided to crack one open. I immediately realized the registration was off on all the cards..."okay, maybe it's a magic thing" I thought, maybe I missed reading about it in the promotional material. Then I turned the deck over and realized the backs were all off too...this was when I realized how crazy off the registration was on the entire deck. This isn't what the deck is supposed to look like, right? Essentially I have a deck that has one way faces AND backs...I can barely play card games with this, let alone any tricks. I'm really afraid the other decks in my brick or even the older ones I have look the same...I would have thought this deck was Q1 quality? Can anyone else with this deck confirm if the registration on their cards looks like this?

Thank you Don for responding.  Yes, I addressed and resolved the issue 2 minutes after I received the email.

Unfortunately it's very common for a small batch of cards from the USPCC to have registration issues...i've seen registration problems in at least a dozen of the open decks in my personal collection from nearly all the big playing card companies.  From the information I have received, less than 1% of the 5,000 Black Edition decks printed have had major registration issues and those decks have all been successfully replaced.

Rest assured everyone....this is not an issue with the entire run of Black Edition Whispering Imps.   You will find greater registration issues the thinner the borders are on cards from USPCC...unfortunately until their calibration is perfect every time...thin border decks will have more problems than a standard border (basically, thinner the border...the less room to hide registration errors).

The Private Reserves on the other hand have perfect registration.  This was accomplished through the meticulous work from the EPCC.

Thank you to all those who supported the Whispering Imps during the Halloween sale (and as always, from any support previously).  I do my best to produce some of the finest playing cards and quality customer service that one man can provide.  I look forward to sharing with all of you an update in the next week or so about the newest deck soon to join the Whispering Imps family, the Gamesters.

Had 50 uncut sheets pulled from the press for this edition, they are now available in the store for those collectors who might be interested. Just thought I'd share that information with all of you.

As always, many thanks for your support of the Whispering Imps,

They are definitely printed at USPCC....going by the template on the tuck artwork posted earlier.  Tuck templates for EPCC decks are different.

Very excited about this deck...nothing beats the Blaine/Stutzman collab.

Thanks for the post about the launch tomorrow!!  I'm excited to bring to all of you the "Black Edition".  To me, it's not just a re-color, it's the perfect pairing to the Original & Special Editions.

I've received some emails asking if I'll print them in any other colors...the answer is no.  I only ever intended this design to be printed in Red & Black.

I hope you all enjoy this latest edition and look forward to the upcoming "v2" & "v3" (both brand new designs) coming up later this year.

As always, thank you for your support & enthusiasm!
