Hey everyone, it's been a long time I haven't posted here, the only reason being that after my involvement with the UC2014 deck I didn't have the time to watch two forums. :)
The deck is inspired by the splendor of Byzantine Empire and Art.
"Icons" (from the Greek word "εικών" which means "image") were paintings or mosaics depicting the saints of Orthodox Church.
For this deck I'll be using the standard courts translated into the Byzantine art style.
"ICONS" is meant to be the first in a series under the title "Heritage Trilogy". In the next days I'll post more pics and info about the deck and the inspiration behind it.

"ICONS" playing cards is a set of 3 editions:
the "SECULAR"
the "SACRED"
the "IMPERIAL"
I decided (for various reasons) to launch the "IMPERIAL edition" first. This is a very special deck, I guess the most luxurious deck of modern era. It will have both Gold and Silver hot stamped foil on the back of all cards. This is the natural next step in the evolution of my work that started with Venexiana Gold. On top of that, I'm upgrading the stock, to meet the demands and expectations of people accustomed to the embossed paper that EPCC and LPCC use. Although it's unlikely that the deck will be ever used for flourishing, I think that good handling adds to the deck's value even if most people will keep the deck inside its case.
Which by the way is going to be covered with purple velvet, embossed and foiled. Very Byzantine!

haha, I never think I have a chance at an EB. I don't even try for one of those as my goal anymore. I shoot straight for the best deal other than an EB and hope like hell I get a piece of that. I didn't get that one either though hahaha. I'm happy with my pledge at the moment and can't complain at all. I always worry things will sell out before I have an opportunity and there is nothing I dislike worse than having to check back often for one slot to open up. So I'm doing the happy dance at the moment, I'm in that's all I can ask for.
I was checking Half moon, it came up on the UC account. haha, that was a curve I wasn't ready for. Absolutely no shot at the best deal with that happening. :p

If they are like Venexiana Golds were, they won't come sealed. They'll come with a removable band around them keeping the tuck shut. You can tell if someone opened the tuck of course, but you can also put the sleeve back on it and it'll look all shnazzy again. My Venexiana Golds, I opened one of the tucks because I needed to play a game of Solitaire with them. It's a must that cards as beautiful as these and those get played with in my opinion, they're playing cards after all, that's just me though. Others feel very differently than I do.
You should definitely open and have a look at them if nothing else. Venexiana Golds are simply gorgeous, these will be too. One of the handful of designers I never doubt on bringing the A game, is Lotrek. :))

Of course and more than one at that. Lotrek doesn't mess around, he always brings the A game. What's more, Lotrek is an absolutely great guy with a fantastic sense of humor. There's passion and fun in every card he designs. I believe he also truly values each and every one of his backers, some claim they do but don't act like it, he absolutely acts like it. No way was I going to miss out on these. I insured the world stopped for me when they launched haha. With the greater availability here, than VeneXiana Gold (Got some, love them!), I still wasn't taking any chances. This was all before I had seen more than one card. Since then it's only gotten a whole lot better, I am already in love with this deck.
I'm very happy with my pledge and I am extremely happy with the price point. I thought there were going to come in, minimally, at $100 a deck. Extremely excited about the ICONS series. With this deck, The Imperial Edition, he's actually trying to figure out a way to bring crushed velvet tuck into being for these. I can't even imagine that! Anyway yea, I definitely bothered to back these haha. ;)

There are some new decks becoming available over the next few hours. Lotrek just released a new 4 deck tier which I grabbed. Between this and the almost $600 I dropped on Arcana I think I might have to start prioritizing new purchases for a few months. It's not like there are any other big names releasing decks this year *cough, No.17, mana, fed52, cough*
