These are the decks in my room at the moment. Its not my whole collection as I have a load of 'vintage' decks in my office. When I finally move into the new house I'll organise the collection and get some better images.

Not a bad start at all, nice selection.

How did you get Sherlock Holmes - Bakerstreet and Holmes edition decks? I couldn't find them on stock, in 5-6 December, when I order :( Anyway, my order was lost by post office I think...no decks for Christmas.

I got this decks only now from my buddy, but they are from an early orders. Usually, I send him a few orders, it makes me one nice package that will be sent in Europe. To bad I order this nice case for iphone 5/5s a year ago, lol. Now is iphone 6 on the market...

Ooh nice haul there mirciusx. I think that case is worth hauling around an iphone five for a while haha.

The 5/5s series still has some life in it.  Cellular companies are selling them as discount models now - you can probably get the 5 in the US for free with a two-year contract.  With the next model, the 5s will be the freebie - for now, it's probably $99 with a new contract.  By the time the Fives are off the market, you'll probably have worn the case out!

Nice start.
As you are probably figuring out, this can be an expensive hobby. For me, I buy decks that I like. Not decks that I think I should have, because everybody else says I need them.
Last night I stayed up late playing poker with Tarot cards. I got a full house and four people died.

Love the prohibition set. :) Very nice Magasaki. That Spawn tuck draws my attention haha, hadn't seen it before your photos. I think I'll may have to look into that deck. Who is it printed by?

I have all the images from the spawn deck on the site that I'm currently working on (link in sig). It's one of the few that I have managed to get fully scanned in.

Just got another batch in...

civil war
continental/crown
fed52 silver certificate and reserve note
aves
pagan
medallion
origins
impressions phantom
seven seas/captain's
frontier/predator
blue collar/white collar
golden spike
aquila
brusmind/pandamonium/freak show
requiem
oracle/calaveras

I've decided I'm not too into the theory11 decks, or any magic/luxury cards for that matter.  I'm only into the ones with interesting art.  Kind of makes my collecting easier on the wallet :)  Some of these decks I have gone out of my way to get and probably spent a little too much, but I don't mind since I'm just starting out :)

Specialization is good - it does keep the financial damage much lower!  Magicians' decks tend to be a bit more plain in general because magicians want to use decks their audiences will identify with.  A general-purpose audience would call for a general-purpose deck with limited customization.  Now, for specialized audiences, options expand, but in general you never know who you'll be performing for so you have to go middle-of-the-road.

Don't be in the habit of overpaying for decks - be more selective, and haggle when you can.  There will be cases that you have to pay a bit more and there's no other option, but when options to pay less do exist, seek them out!

Notice how there are 26 cards of either color in each deck, a number equal to letters in English alphabet. You can hide a message with cards in a deck if it is simple enough.

Nice beginning - good set of cards.

I have lately been advising modern deck collectors to not go crazy trying to get the older custom decks.  They often end up being pretty costly, and while they may be attractive, gorgeous, rare, etc., there's so many custom decks coming out now it's like being in a New York subway station - there's ALWAYS another train coming; maybe not now, maybe not today, but eventually another train does come!  Getting in on the new stuff at the ground floor retail price is so much better than paying through the nose for the same deck a year or two down the road.

Of course, I'm not advising people to never buy older decks - just to not let the "gotta get'em all" mentality take over.  Remember, instead of paying big bucks, today's rare decks can be used as trading fodder for yesterday's rare decks!  Buy extras at retail so you can trade them off for the older stuff you can't live without.

Thanks Don,

I am going to get a dozen something from post in a few days and then I will focus mostly on kickstarter and the new decks. I can see how it is a bad idea spending 100 bucks on Arcane gold deck instead of a lesser amount on much more appealing decks on kickstarter. I didn't know they are making so many of those amazing decks. I will show you the ones when I will get them.

Is THAT what Gold Arcanes go for these days?  I remember when they were half that price, even less!

I think it is more than that even. On ebay minimum price is $107 and it goes as high as $187. I think it will increase further.

I suggest a little more digging. Gold Arcane can be had for $80 now and lower on occasion. Better to pick them up in a trade or something in my opinion though. I love my E decks, just not at $80+ haha.

Nice collection you have going by the way. Looking good! I've been considering the Celtic Myth cards to add to my own collection lately. I think their swirly funky back is pretty interesting.

Thanks for the comment on the collection Fes. I am keeping it up to date. It is a sad thing that if I check the decks then their value will decrease. I guess I will eventually just open them all.

About arcane gold decks. I think those $80 decks are coming with $15 shipping. And anyway ellusionist is selling them at $100. Anyway, we all need to have the price of our decks increasing with time.

Honestly, I never purchase a deck as a monetary investment. I don't have any hopes or dreams of them increasing in value either as I have never sold a deck in my life. My only concern is when I get down to the last deck or last couple decks is, How difficult will this deck be to replace? That's the real sting for me recently. I'm buying restock of many decks I've enjoyed in the past. (Usually not the v1's I had before though, too costly!) Burned through them without really thinking about it at all. Replacing them has been more expensive than I ever thought it would be. I go slowly and do it over time so I can still pick up wonderful new decks to feed my appetite. I may not be the norm though, I'm a pretty bad card collector as far as collecting goes haha. I'm also, and probably will always be, a pretty heavy devourer of decks ahahah. I just can't seem to get enough!

I am sorry for saying that. I am not going to sell any of the decks I have either. But then I do not understand why we are keeping them wrapped in cellophane when we can easily tear it open and enjoy the wonderful collection we have. I have not even seen the cards in many of the decks, worrying too much that that would make my collection less remarkable. I think I will open them all up eventually. lol!
