Given the choice between being splattered with DayGlo paint at a too-loud-to-think rave while staring at kids a generation younger than me or snuggling up with my girlfriend for some mutual enjoyment, I'll take the girlfriend!

For you, perhaps.  For me and mine, nope!

I think as you grow older, definitions of fun change. Not because you don't want to do things you did when you were younger, but because it's just something no one else your age does anymore. I would totally sit down and build something out of Lego right now, but that age ended a decade ago. Then again I know 30-something year olds that go clubbing several times a week.

^Let's all build a casino out of Lego, now that's interesting ::)
Or even a full-scale roulette wheel haha

I've never been into clubbing to be honest, I'd have more fun sitting home and messing with a deck of cards, videogames, drawing some random stuff... And when I do go out, I prefer simple stuff like having dinner with friends, even just hanging out in a shopping mall or something. Relaxing more than necessary is what I do best.
Grin like a Cheshire cat, and remember: we're all mad here.

Clubbing itself isn't a terrible idea - if you can find a club compatible with your interests.  Your music, your crowd, your volume level, your beverages, etc.  Even so, my favorite clubs were in Fort Lauderdale - the smaller population lent the clubs I went to a more pub-like familiarity with the regulars.  It didn't hurt that I was deejaying at a popular alternative rock station!  This gave me a little more of a connection with the local music scene.

No matter how you slice it, being splattered with Dayglo paint sounds more like a home improvement mistake than a fun way to spend an evening...
