Hello all-

These are 4 decks i saved from the landfill, were going to be tossed after the original owner had passed.

Been googling for info and values...

These are all "adult" playing cards- the naughty stuff I obscured in this image, hope there is no problem posting it.

Note- these links show the full cards so don't click on them if you are offended by such things, but I'm pretty sure these are more "art" than anything else.

These cards are from France, by the well known publisher Philibert, in the 1950's and 1960's. They are also very collectible because the designers like Becat and Albarran did them. The Casanova in particular draws buyers as every card has a different design. Certainly in the area of playing card collectors, these are not porno, slightly risque, but art. Your rescue effort save $6-800 from the landfill!

Thank you. I managed to find info (with pictures) of the full deck here - http://www.wopc.co.uk/france/philibert/casanova.html

And to your next post, yes, it seems they were cards he or someone just ordered for him for his bridge games. Still interested for me I had never seen a tax stamp before.

Seems a Casanova deck sold for $585 on ebay last month- nice! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Memoires-de-Casanova-playing-cards-1960-Philibert-EXTREMELY-RARE-/151174216430

This guy ^^^^ is, as the kids say, the hotness.

He provided me my first vintage deck, then threw it's brother in along for the ride. Needless to say I was pretty blown away, and the whole deal has done NOTHING to abate my desire for more vintage decks. Well, decks in general. Here's to you Lee, gentleman, purveyor, enabler!

You should post that in the "Cellar" version of this topic...y'know, the one that's exclusively vintage and antique decks and stuff?  :))

You sir, are correct. I got excited and in the heat of the moment, well, we were all teenagers at one point in time..

Good looking cards there Sparkz, I am still waiting on my order. Funny thing about the Fraggle Rock cards, I found them still in stock at the Jim Henson website.

Starting to get better...have to stay dedicated...can't lose any more cards in the middle of a trick.  Literally, completely lost a card.

Yah that place. Not Jim Henson. As I was typing that I knew it wasn't right, but was too lazy to remember correctly.

Arigatou gozaimasu!

Hey Lee

That looks pretty cool. Unless it just says "trick" for fun, what kind of trick deck is it?

From the best of my knowledge, "Trick (with the inverted K)" is a Japanese drama serial about solving what is known to be illusion/supernatural mysteries. It is shown quite some time ago, and the female figure on the box is portraying the female lead "solver" in the drama serial. I used to catch a few episodes on TV previously but can't seem to find it anywhere else recently.

That being said, any idea where i can get a deck of these?

LOL, no, no.......just some creative license with the pic. I had just gotten the White/Gold from T11's Holiday wheel and wanted to add a pic of all of them to my Monarch's page on my site. Those are the Blue, Silver and Red, just desaturated.

You didn't miss out on a super secret deck, lol

I finally received all the Fed 52 decks. Wish I'd bought 2 brick boxes instead, the one that I have isn't enough to store everything! :-[

Received some stuff from Ellusionist as well.

Received mine as well. Wish I had ordered more of the black Reserve Notes though. The tuck is amazing.

And, fatastic wall there PrincessTrouble!! Looks amazing, who did you get the frames from? BM Poker Workd or Collectable Playing Cards? I only ask because there was a thread talking about the quality, maybe you could weigh in on that.

Nicely done all  :D
