  • Pick a card, any card...no, not THAT card!

For anyone not familiar with a "Gambler's Deck", it's generally reserved for a special category of decks - they're stripped, marked several different ways and numbered for quick and easy placement into stack order.  I own two with the Bicycle Rider Back design and while to my eye they seem obvious, I've yet to find a spectator that spots the markings.

The Rider Back versions are all out of print and will never be remade, but apparently someone started making a Maiden Back version that would fill in for a Rider Back just fine.

This shop's also pretty good with some of the other harder-to-find decks - they're still stocking Tally Ho Split Spades in red and black!  Excellent materials on gambling, cheating and spotting cheats, too.

For a magician, especially a starting one, a deck like this can allow you to perform miracles that would normally take a lot more work and practice.  I frequently use mine as part of an invisible deck trick - it's marked to indicate the bottom card as well as the top card when in stack order, so I let the spectator cut the deck, revealing the bottom card as the chosen one.  Even if they thought the deck was marked, they'd see you couldn't even see the back of the card, assuming that it would have done you no good.
