Playing Card Plethora / Re: White Lions [Series A] Red
« on: April 25, 2016, 08:46:28 PM »
Don, In the case of his most rare deck, could you argue that his full 52 gaff deck White Lions Stealth Cards  (not to be confused with the initial 37 gaff card release) is his more rare then the Purple or Create Magic? David himself has said that not only has the full 52 gaff stealth cards never been released but has only
been handed out to friends by himself, personally. Does this not make the white lions full 52 gaff deck his most rare deck to date?

well that Stealth Deck was never actually released so I don't think it can be compared to the Purple or Create Magic deck. Purple deck were released when DB was selling the AIP bottle, and Create Magic was released with the Variety Box as well as Bonus Gift from CARC when you spend $500. While the Stealth as you said, is only given to friends personally.

In terms of rarity yes the Stealth Deck is rarer, but it shouldn't be compared to the other 2. Thats my opinion only.  :P

Liberty's been around for a LONG time, having been founded in Chicago in 1970.  In the 1980s, they bought the playing card assets of Western Publishing (meaning all the IP of the Western Playing Card Co., another long-time manufacturer).  In 2003, they were one of the manufacturers tapped by the US Government to make the Iraq's Most Wanted decks - I know USPC made some, possibly one or two other companies as well.  They were bought in 2010 by Arlington Printing and Playing Card Co. (a division of Gambler's Warehouse - or is it the other way around?) and moved to Arlington, TX, a suburb located right between Dallas and Fort Worth, like a bridge between the two cities.  It's only in the past few years that they've really started to embrace custom playing card decks, but most of the full-custom work they've done up to now has been with either Expert PCC or USPC - very little on their own presses.  They do more business-oriented decks, like promotional giveaways, special event decks, tourism decks, etc., but they do have ambitions to break into the custom market in a bigger way - I think that for them, using Expert and USPC is a way of getting their foot in the door while they're improving their own printing process.

Interesting, so this will be the first time Liberty PCC will be releasing custom deck.. I do wonder how this will turn out considering that the prices are quite low compared to the other big PCC

In the low three figures.  Easily.  It's pretty rare and doesn't often come up for sale.  Even when new, you had to spend in the low three figures to acquire it as part of a set with the Series A Red and the AIP Bottle of the Series A Red.  It wasn't even announced as part of that set - people didn't learn of it until the deliveries from Blaine started arriving in their mailboxes.

So if there are only 44 released AIP bottles, that means only 44 or even less purple rainbow deck in circulations... can we say that this is rarer then the Microsoft "Create Magic" deck?

The "Rainbow Series" decks are marked "Limited 1st Edition Rainbow" on the bottom of the tuck box, and I believe the tucks all show a red card on the box back.  For the Reds, they're "normal" (no distinctive marks beyond the special box), but for the UV Blues, there's a small black dot written in magic marker on the white border of the tuck box's seal.  I never owned a purple deck, so I couldn't tell you what the tuck's differences were.

regarding the Red Rainbow and UV Blue Rainbow.. I came across a post on UC
https://unitedcardists.com/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=8349

It appears that even the UV Blue Rainbow deck can come in red box without any marking..

If you’re a magician, I’ll be (hopefully) releasing a small tier in the coming days for those magicians looking to come aboard.

Cant wait to see what you have in store  :)

Hi Cardfool, We are very happy to hear that, thank you! I'm leaning heavenly toward Legends Playing cards, but the 3 month turnaround time is a bit of a issue. Its still up for discussion, we have gotten initial quotes from both LPCC and APCC. any advice from you guys would also be very welcome.

who is APCC?

Lets say they are not up to the standard that magicians and cardists liked. Apparently they are great to print prototype decks since they are able to print small number of decks.

as far as I know they are better for humid environment, not too sure if it is better or not.

Nice decks there, I was looking for something like these as well..

I believe they are not much different from Dan and Dave Classic Aristocrat, in a way Dan and Dave replaced the old tuck with their custom design tuck.
Again I believe this deck is printed by USPCC for Casino that don't particularly print their own name.

If you can take a photo of the AoS then we can determine the year it was printed, otherwise it should have come with a barcode card that specify the manufacturing date.

+1 for Anthony for a very precise explanation :) the funny thing is that I was just looking at this before the weekend.
I received another ultimate deck from the last mystery deck, so I was curious to find out the difference.

What Anthony noted is what I found as well, but I can confirm that the reprint does have darker shade tuck closer to being black.
I didn't bother to look inside the deck since I already have 1 original deck opened. If there is anyone who has both reprint and original opened, I would appreciate it if you can share any differences on the cards.

oh thanks for clarifying that  ;) I haven't tried palme edition yet  :P

They didn't have a rewind button :)

I remember something about never show your trick twice... obviously with recording (certain) people can rewind the video and slowly work out the idea behind the trick.

Design & Development / Re: Ink Coverage and Handling
« on: February 28, 2016, 10:10:53 PM »
I remembered this being discussed in the forum, it must be an old thread but it is there.
For me I never really notice any major differences related to ink coverage, even if there is it will be really minor.
It will be the card stock and finish that determine the handling.

that is what I think anyway.

Hi and welcome to the forum  :)

I recall seeing this somewhere... If I am not mistaken there is a story behind this deck, about an old man... maybe I am wrong...

Somehow I got a feeling that the alignment on the Limited edition gonna be messed up...
