So, recently I pledged for a portable macro lens (to be used with smartphones) via Kickstarter. Their company is called Easy-Macro, and their lens arrived about week ago. However, it arrived cracked, so they kindly sent me another one. So, I currently I have two attachable macro lenses for my Galaxy S4.
THE POINT IS: I am now able to take incredible close-up (macro) shots of practically anything. One day, I sat down with a playing card and began to examine its intricacies. I've taken some pictures that I would like to share with you guys. If you'd like to request any particular deck, I'd be happy to.
So, can anyone guess what this deck is?

(Sorry for the apparent distortion, adequate lighting is a bit of a issue when your camera is centimeters away from the object your capturing.)
Hope you guys enjoy! :))

Vortex?
-
That's cool! I think you need to grab some Aurum decks and check out crazy line that took me forever to make. :)
-
That's fun! I saw a Kickstarter project that gave you a way to rubberband some macro lenses to your tablet/mobile device. Are you using the same thing?
-
I received a bunch of lenses from http://photojojo.com/store/ as a gift and they are absolutely incredible....been having a blast shooting with the iPhone.

Ye gods, man - one could get lost in that store! It's the Black Hole of Phone-tography!
-
Just for you Paul, because they are one of my favorites
-
Sweet! Cool to see that detail.

Aurum: The deck so awesome, not even it's designer knows how detailed it is.
-
That's awesome! I just received my Aurum decks and the detailed design is amazing. Definitely one of my top favorite decks so far. The design on the Deco is awesome, too! If you have a deck, it would be really nice to see the detail on those, also. :)

Haha! I drew that continuous line by hand at such a large size that it still shocks me when I see it on the card, packed into that tiny space.
-
Incredible!
I had no idea these existed. Just bought one, thanks for the tip KPopFever605!
-
More close-ups, please!

It's CONTINUOUS?
Jesus. Do you still have the original drawing? I'd love to see it.

I think it's also symmetrical but the axis of symmetry or point of reflection is not flat across the card, but at a slight angle. Maybe it's to be expected that it's symmetrical, but to me, having a continuous intricately detailed line like that *and* having it symmetrical is amazing.
-
Yes, that line detail is continuous, doesn't cross itself and is symmetrical and reflected across the center at about a 15 degree angle. Straight across would have been boring. :) I have the original pencil drawing (which is half the card of course, I scanned it and tweaked it heavily to get a seamless reflection). I'll have to post that up.

More close-ups, please!
Here ya go Don, they may be a bit more obvious, but I just discovered the info on the 3rd one.

Am I the only one that really really enjoys the Fathom deck?

If you have an old laser pointer or perhaps a CD/DVD player you can take the lens and make yourself a, less convenient, microscope set-up for free.

Nope, your not alone on that HandSkillz, I like the series so far, can't wait for the next release ;)

A few more to keep you all going

A few more to keep you all going
I'm bowing out of this one.
You should attempt what Lee Asher did on his site - take REALLY close shots. He went in so close, the dimples from the embossing were like divots on the green!
-
Good job, I can't figure out any of those.
-
The top may be Crowns
Second ... Medallions?
Third... Season?

One out of 3.......the second is Medallions ;)

First one is Mana- Oracle.
-
Third one is Infinity by Ellusionist,
-
Well done everyone, I'll see if I can come up with a few more.........maybe a bit harder if possible.
-
I think these are really awesome! How much do the lenses cost?

For a nice close up lens, which this one is kind of middle of the road, $300.00. But you get what you pay for.
New Close Ups, let's see how you do.
-
1st one is definitely theory11's Artisans.
2nd one is probably some Karnival deck judging by the crossed out eyes. I'm guessing. Dose?
3rd. No clue.

Got the 1st one........way off on the second one ;)

Well done!

Dang!
Could the last one possibly be Nautic backs? Not the T11 version.

Gratz!! Well done!
I thought the Curator card would have thrown people off a bit.

I thought the Curator card would have thrown people off a bit.
But the Curator deck is so cool that I've probably spent longer looking at it than anything else. You didn't factor that in I bet......

Yes!

You bet it! They're called Easy-Macro.
I received a bunch of lenses from http://photojojo.com/store/ as a gift and they are absolutely incredible....been having a blast shooting with the iPhone.
I bet they didn't cost only $10....and fit flat in your wallet?

Taking inspiration from this thread.... (http://aethercards.com/discourse/playing-card-plethora/playing-card-close-ups/)
... I thought it would be fun to see if people could guess what deck a close up photo is taken from.
Here is the first one:
Can you guess what deck this is?
-
Taking inspiration from this thread.... (http://aethercards.com/discourse/playing-card-plethora/playing-card-close-ups/)
Rather than taking inspiration from the thread, just add to it! Can you imagine how hard it would be to find things around here if, for example, everyone made a new topic for every new acquisition or every time they wanted to show off their entire collection?
As a general rule, gang - if a topic on it already exists, DON'T make a new one; just add to the existing one.

Oh ok, I just didn't want to hijack the thread since my photo wasn't from a special macro lens.

The subject of the thread is close-ups of cards, not the method by which they are achieved... :))
I honestly don't have a clue what your card is...
-
Is this the Deco bronze deck?
It kinda might look like the right colour scheme? I'm probably off though haha
-
I think the problem has more to do with that giant flash of light on the card - it makes it difficult to get an accurate look at the details.
-
Black JAQK?
-
I love this thread!

Lol... I was taking a photo of this deck trying to capture the light reflecting in the red foil and I thought this one came out "real purty like". Then it occurred to me it would make a good challenge to guess on here. It's a difficult one, but the biggest clue is the little circles representing grapes.
Black JAQK?
Nice job! You pretty much got it -- (red) JAQK Cellars.
-
I love this thread!
Then why aren't you guessing? :))
-
Hmmm, that's a good one.......I got nothin' yet.
Thought it was a Rarebit for a minute, but I don't think so.
-
Any ideas.... just based off the face of this card?

Magic con v2

Yes. That was fast. Lol
-
Yes. That was fast. Lol
In this crowd, you almost couldn't have made it easier. Make a REAL close-up next time.
-
These may be easy, but let's give it a shot 8)
-
Ace Fulton's Casino, Clipjoint, Bohemia.
-
Ya, those were too easy.............back to the drawing board, lol
-
That's a cool close up of the Bohemia ace of spades. I had never noticed the detail on those little background lines how it almost looks like a coffee stain. The only one I guessed with certainty was fultons casino. I still remember the unpleasant surprise of opening my first deck of fultons casino cards and trying to do a fan with them. :mindf-ck:
Here is another...
-
Fulton's October Ace of Spades?
-
Correctomundo. :D
-
Here's 2 photos. The first one is of a tuck box, the second one is part of an AoS. Sorry for the grainy quality, my iphone camera sucks.
-
2nd pic is D&D Ultimate Deck. Not sure on first one...
-
Correct on the ultimate deck.
In regards to the first, I'm not too how popular the deck is amongst guys here.
-
Time for another round 8)
-
No one got my first pic correct :o
-
No one got my first pic correct :o
I'm still working on it, but I got nothing Nurul :-[
-
No one got my first pic correct :o
Pit Hartling deck
-
Hmm, Sparks..i think I finally got my first guesses right!
No idea for the first.
2nd is Fraggle Rock
3rd is...White Arcanes?
-
You got the Fraggle decj ;)
-
You got the Fraggle decj ;)
The first one's No.2 Republic, methinks.
