I swear dealers were meant to be a gamblers deck with no borders. Why borders? That's if it is definitely dealers.

Would we rather just a color change? The new color of dealers was inevitable.

A Madison marked deck for both gambler and magician (no border/border). Theory11 players don't count.

I hope it's not some wacky color.

That is the Ace of Spades.  Looks like the same marking system.
Starting to get better...have to stay dedicated...can't lose any more cards in the middle of a trick.  Literally, completely lost a card.

I believe it's the Nine of Clubs, if it's the same marking system.

I can't fault E for using what works. So I wonder what colour the deck will be and what colour the LE deck will be?

Haha, you're right...I did not look closely at that at all.  I think I need a new pair of glasses.

Haha, you're right...I did not look closely at that at all.  I think I need a new pair of glasses.

I spent a New Year's Eve impressing drunk friends with the Dealers so it's the only reason I still remember the marking so well ...

alcohol + new year's eve + friends + card reading =  ;D

The sad thing, I will admit now, is if the regular bordered Dealers are blue or a nice colour, I will probably get a few decks.

Why would that be sad?

I think it's a good time NOT do the buy a brick promotion. Not really feeling it.  E is on a very thin line between making a profit and taking advantage of customers at this point. It would be nice just buying the few I want this time around without a limited product being dangled over my head. Let's mix it up or be a little more creative.

We could do Ellusionist Roulette...everyone throws down $12 to get one of the decks offered and a 1/12 chance at getting the special deck (guessing it will be a Scarlett dealers with borders)?  Haha.

I don't remember any hints of Blue Rounders when Brown was being released either.  I would not go by that.

I'm going to say it's confirmed that the new Madison Dealers V2 are Black and Red: http://www.madisonplayingcards.com/ though E's site doesn't have them yet. I guess later this week, maybe?  If you click on the two V2 decks, both are unlimited. So two colours, but at least it's not buy a brick to get one LE colour. I'd say that's a smart move on their part and I could see picking up a few reds. It is a nice shade.

It says Daniel released the Madison Players deck in 2007? Huh!?!

I found the link while trying to search for a picture of the Madison Card Clip and got this: http://www.danielmadison.co.uk/19101516.html . Bottom left leads to that previous linked page.

Nice find.

And yet the Scarlet Players still elude me. Not even a picture of them?

Not sure where you're seeing both Black and Red as unlimited.  The Red says unlimited, but the Black says that it is a small run, like Daniel always does, but this time he's not keeping them for himself.  That, to me, does not sound unlimited, just more available than the Red Rounders.

A very easy pass for me.

I wasn't too thrilled with the V1 dealers, as the cards felt pretty flimsy. The promos seemed to suggest that they were made for Expert at the Card Table type gambling slights... yet they didn't even have a traditional cut! That, combined with the not-so-firm stock meant that the cards didn't shuffle too well for me, and hardly lasted.

Adding a white border... I really don't see how that helps with gambling slights! If anything, it makes them less gambler friendly!
With this signature I'm following the example set by Fes: There is only ONE letter L in my display name. "Holly" is a female name... and I'm a bearded guy who's into weightlifting. There's nothing feminine about me brother!

To each their own.

It's been a few months since I worked with a fresh out of the box deck of dealers. I don't remember if they were or were not traditionally cut. Like most USPCC decks they faro shuffle just fine both ways when I'm done breaking them in. I never had a problem with the stock. They are to Daniel's preference.

As for gambler's, I don't believe these are for the gambling demographic. Most likely more the magician then gambler.

It's been a few months since I worked with a fresh out of the box deck of dealers. I don't remember if they were or were not traditionally cut. Like most USPCC decks they pharaoh shuffle just fine both ways when I'm done breaking them in. I never had a problem with the stock. They are to Daniel's preference.

Hello there bro.

I have to disagree with the notion that the Madison Dealers are NOT aimed at gamblers. I'm going to refer to two paragraphs on Ellusionist's sales page for the dealers:

"As used in 1902, these playing cards utilize an edge-to-edge borderless casino "gambling house" design. If you are worried about double lifts etc, perhaps it's time to stop relying on white borders to hide inefficiencies. These cards will help you to get good at what you do. Madison has used the edge-to-edge design for that single purpose since he was a teenager taking people's money in real games."

Even if we ignore the very specific mention of GAMBLING HOUSE DESIGN, the end part also make it obvious that the cards are best suited for gambling.

One more paragraph:

"If you believe these fine playing cards fit your personal style, pick up a deck or twelve and put them through the wringer: bottoms, centers, shifts, palms, changes and switches. See how these trusted sleights feel in your hands."

Although those moves CAN be used in a magic routine, all of those moves are primerily gambling moves.

Then there is also the promo video... and that was very much centred around Erdnase and Expert at the Card Table -- and let's face it, EATCT was about card cheating, rather than card magic.

If anything, I'd say that the Madison Rounders are the cards which are aimed at magicians, rather than the V1 Dealers.

The Dealers definitely weren't traditionally cut -- the very first thing I test with any deck is the cut. Although I have heard many people say that cards faro well both ways when broken in, I guessing that they're talking about in-the-hands faros, rather than tabled faros. On a table, cards definitely riffle-faro much better one way, depending on their cut.

However, what I do totally agree with you on is the fact that they are made to Madison's personal preference -- and yeah, I would also say that his preference appeals to more people (by the thousands!) than my preference. For me, I just found the cards too flimsy... they didn't last long for me at all. However, that's just me, and I'm sure that I'm in a minority.

After all... to each, their own!

What I'm saying is the no border dealers are for the gambler demographic but the V2 has a different more broad demographic with no borders. Your making reference to the original dealers and original promo.

Besides, I don't know any fool that would be crazy enough to actually use Dealers in an underground poker game. Unless your someone that has a wish to be seriously injured.

In that case, sorry about that bro -- I thought you were referring to the V1 Dealers being for magicians, despite them clearly being for gamblers.

I guess the only intelligent use (apart from practising with them) for Dealers would be some sort of gambling demonstration. As you've correctly stated, using the Dealers (or for that matter, any deck with such obvious markings) in a real game is suicidal.

My personal opinion is that Ellusionist have done the Madison cards to death.
