I always wanted to know as creator of the luxury decks do you get royalties every time TBC reprints or does a color change? Are you the one doing the color and design updates or has all the art been handed over to TBC to do what they want?

It's possible, but I don't think it's likely.  I've never seen them do that before, and none of the other photos appear to be negatives; they're just blurry!

It does look, however, like there's more going on deck-wise than just the White Luxury Crown Deck, assuming that's indeed what it is.  Heck, it could be something like what T11 did recently with the Monarchs - a big box in the shape of a tuck box meant to hold more decks in it.  One photo shows what looks like Gold Crowns, and another appears to be displaying Red and Blue Luxury Crown Decks.  I would have thought green was coming, but who knows, once the blur filter is removed, what will remain...?

I served as a Freelance Designer on the Luxury Deck design, so no royalties for any of those. Yep, I do all of the color / design changes to the variations. For the fee it all depends on what else is going on with other TBC designs. Kevin and I e-mail almost daily on miscellaneous stuff and I help them out with production work every now and then when they need it. It's usually something where Kevin asks how much for XX amount of work, they PayPal it over and I work on it at night. We're pretty casual about it.

Hey, I got news for ya - I thought it was a deck as well when I first saw it.  Theoretically, that's still true - a PS4 is a gaming deck, much like the tape decks of yore...

I might pick up a few of these. Anyone who knows me, knows I really like the original crown decks. When the luxury decks came out in Blue and Red, I already had my fill of Blue and Red crown decks. I also did not think the name "Luxury" was the best name (signature series). However, I welcome the use of alternate colors not used by "The Crown Deck's" for the Luxury Crown Deck's.  This will be a very successful release for TBC. I look forward to seeing other alternate color luxury crown decks.

I was hooked when I saw the prizes. i lost my interest when I found the methods at which they had to be obtained by. With consumers like us, I think companies need prize tiers to keep customers, like Ellusionist. With that being said, I do like their three releases. They're quite interesting.

I am so stupid.  I ordered two of the regular editions and didn't realize the special one was for sale,  too (I thought the only way you could get it was to have an order up to $150). Now I'm debating if I should place another order. It's either this or one of the LE Black Reserve Notes that are selling on eBay for upwards of $150

The design on the Luxury Crown deck is superb, as always. The design definitely lives up to the name. Unfortunately, I didn't like the feel of the cards at all -- they feel very flimsy. I was expecting them to have Bee Casino stock, but instead they went with stock that feels cheap (in my opinion).

You could have snagged more Luxury decks, sold them at a profit and the uncut sheet would actually end up giving you money instead of costing you money!  But you do have to have the money to spend in the first place...

I'm not 100% certain, but from what I think I remember about the Luxury Crown deck that I shuffled a few times last month, there wasn't much friction and so it could well be MF. I have to admit though, I find it somewhat tough to tell the difference between standard and MF on Bicycle stock.

I agree with what you've implied about stocks and finishes -- that different combinations are suited for different uses, and that there probably isn't one combination that works perfectly for absolutely everything.

I personally prefer shuffling with stiff cards -- before the Legends and Exquisites (the deck from EPCC, and not that silly one from Devo) released, Bee Casino decks were pretty much the only decks that I'd practice tabled faros with for around 45 minutes at a time. My hands and skin is suited to stiffer cards, where as I'm not-so-good when shuffling with say a Bicycle Mandolin deck.

However, I can understand why Alex Pandrea and TBC team have chosen the Bicycle stock for their top-of-the-line deck... it's probably because that stock is suited to the moves that Pandrea teaches, such as the various pass moves.

The v1 Crowns were one of the first decks ever produced with Magic finish, back when it was brand-spanking-new.  All of our decks since have used Magic finish, with the exception of the Nauticals, which were not printed by USPCC.  All of our decks also have the embossed paper, except for the White Aladdins, which have a smooth magic finish.

Magic finish is simply the best that USPCC has to offer, so we stick with it.  We choose stocks from deck to deck.  Also, there is definite variance at USPCC with their stock thickness/tolerance.  So "Bike stock" one one deck may be thicker or thinner than "Bike stock" on another deck.

No metallic in for the faces, though. Kinda disappointed about that. they're still awesome decks.

Don, the White Luxury Faces have a Dark Gold color, no Metallic Inks. Metallic Inks look great at some angles, and almost blank at other angles. That's not good for playability! I picked a Dark Gold color that I thought was dark enough to read across a Poker Table and still vibe nicely with the rest of the elements.

I'm guessing there's three reasons for the delay in shipping. 1 - the Holidays, 2 - shipping of the Imperial Deck and 3 - the nasty weather in a lot of the U.S.

It's pretty bad in my neck of the woods. We haven't received any mail since Saturday. And we live in a nice suburb in Indianapolis, not out in the country! We had 10 inches of snow over the weekend and then had a couple days of -10 degrees (-30 wind chills). I know it's just as bad in other states, like Michigan. My parents live in Michigan. We drove up for Christmas after their big ice storm. There were leaning and broken tree branches all along the highway. My parents were out of power for almost a week. Luckily it was back on when we arrived. I saw that they got 16" of snow this past weekend. That type of weather will slow down any delivery service!

Randy, they need to invest in pack mules and helicopters. If these were run of the mill, boring cards, no one would really care much. These look great, and we're all excited to get them, hence the impatience! We're very anxious to get them! In this case, that's a really good thing!

Personally, I will order something in the morning and be honestly disappointed that afternoon when UPS doesn't have it on their truck!

I'll tell all of you this much...you will easily be able to figure out where I live when Amazon Prime Air drones are in service. My house will look like Atlanta-Hartsfield with drones lined up for miles, waiting to land and drop off packages!! I already have two runways, er, driveways, in place, just waiting and ready!:-))
