Hey, guys!

Remember about nine months ago Ellusionist held a party in New York?  Someone clued me in and let me know about it, remember?  Got to meet a few interesting people...

...and ended up in the promo video for this cool trick!

http://www.ellusionist.com/stay-cool-by-tobias-dostal.html

The trick seems stultifying in its simplicity, but it actually looks cool - and fun - in person.  It's worth checking it out, really, especially if you go for a high-energy kick-off to your performance with just a dash of comedy.

See if you can spot me in the video.  Tell me what minute/second each time you see me - I appear several times.  :))  No prize except kudos for keen powers of observation!  Bonus if you can spot my friend, Jesse!  He's the guy with the beard longer than Daniel Madison's!

That really was a fun night...  :))

Its kind of a neat trick but I can't find out why its 45 dollars. Looks like a trick that should be $4 on Penguin Magic.

A training DVD with routines combined with a gimmicked pair of glasses, that's why.  Do it big and brash at the start of your routine and you'll get good laughs with it.

If you hear someone laughing really, REALLY loud, that was probably Tony Chang.  He might have spent some time later praying to the goddess of porcelain...  :))

I could see this working well for a close up magician. You could even levitate them afterwards. Not for me though.

You ever see a magician who's so high-energy and funny in his or her routine that they seem practically manic, like a stand-up comic after a few too many coffees?  That's the kind of magician this is best suited for - or simply if you want to inject a little more adrenaline into your routine kick-off.

I might get it for performing at the hospital.  I usually start off with a trick that seems corny but surprises the hell out of people at the prestige.  It grabs people by the shock of having their low expectations blown out of the water - but maybe something like this would be more of a kick as an opener.

I absolutely think this trick would be ideal for what you do. The one thing that really shocks people is they often expect a magician to go by the old adage to pull something from somewhere, whether it be a rabbit from a hat, cloth from your arm, cards from thin air, but this just takes that aspect and tips it on its head. It's sudden, it's flashy, it's direct, and it's great.
If I were an eskimo, I would build my igloo next to a supermarket.

I have been working on more mentalism and geek magic, could I make it work in one of my shows? Yes. But for me its not something that I really need.
