So, at the end of August, Wayne Houchin released French Kiss via Theory11.

From what I understand, this is not a re-release. It's the first time it's being released as a stand alone effect. I believe it was featured on his "Art of Magic" DVD.

French Kiss is probably one of the most modern intimate and powerful effect that is out there on the market today.

For those who are unfamiliar with the trick click the following links to view:-

I simply want to know, what do you guys think of the routine?

On this new release, he has different handling, as well as the original, plus an additional french note routine.

The effect is a good example of someone taking a rather standard magical effect (a transpo), and putting a very cool spin on it.  The added Notepad routine seems killer, and I'm a fan of these "nonstandard" routines which utilize more general household items.

On a somewhat unrelated note, this trick has been unfortunately revealed by a rather popular Youtuber in magic (Jarek1:20).  I'm not sure what his intentions were, but I suppose he might be pressured to take it down now that we have an official release from Houchin himself.

Never trust YouTube magic reveals.  Sometimes they're performed wrong, sometimes the trick is merely guessed at rather than accurately revealed, and almost invariably it's being done by someone who barely qualifies as an amateur magician, not someone you want to be learning tricks from.  For every correct solution, there's probably twenty incorrect ones.

You are very correct.  Early on, I was exposed to the truth of these horrid people exposing paid tricks-- ruins the trick, ruins the author, and inspires a new generation to do it poorly.  I make it a rule to learn from published sources.
What are your thoughts on the effect, Don?

It's not something I'd put in to my regular repertoire, since I'm usually performing for children.

It looks like a cool effect and I can think of a few ways I might be able to execute it - but likely without the level of expertise that Houchin does.  I'm sure his execution is much smoother than one I could concoct.

It's a good effect for a first date, or for Valentine's Day magic, especially if you can performing it with two other people performing the apparent swap, such as a boyfriend and a girlfriend on a date.

I think the effect works well in practise and achieves good responses.  I have watched Dynamo perform it in a close up environment in Dubai, and the reactions were fantastic. In terms of those who all too often expose on youtube, there is certainly a gulf between learning from them and polished professionals.  Whilst in my opinion the effect if thought about briefly can be easily deconstructed, Wayne's teaching on this download is first class (as it generally always is), and variations are offered.  Nice and direct, I like it!
