I have recently picked up a set of the bicycle and unbranded versions of the Mystifying Oracle deck. I was just wondering if anyone had a deck and had come up with any interesting ideas for the use of the gaff card or the planchette / ouija board card that comes along with it? I'm sure you could create some great creepy tricks with this one.

  • Pick a card, any card...no, not THAT card!

Well, there's the YES/NO card, and the "Ouija" board card with the planchette.

Have you ever played with Ouija or similar fortune-telling boards?  A mentalist could manipulate one (combined with some secret background knowledge obtained either on the fly or in advance) to make an impressive performance.

The YES/NO card is not much different from flipping a coin, except that with some sleight of hand the right magician could rig the results.

  • Charm gets you quite far. Guile gets you the rest.
I haven't worked out any great routines that include them yet, but I have been having fun with some simple slight/color changes to mess with my friends, have them 'ask the deck a question' and reveal the card. Or I have been forcing a yes/no on them just to joke around.

There is a great little shout out printed on the bottom of the Yes/No card if you look really close!!  8)
Kickstarter completely revolutionized the way I waste money.

The people who handle playing cards are always in a world of delicate fingertip technology.
