I am new to vintage decks and I am expanding my card collection to incorporate old decks.  The postings on the forum has gotten me interested in the older decks and the design.  I really like the cards I have seen on here, so thanks.  My wallet may not thank you.  Well I just purchased this deck I thought was pretty cool. Let me know if this was a good buy or not.  I have attached a pic and the card description from the auction.  Purchase price was $99.00 but I put in an offer of $30.00 and they excepted it with free shipping.  I thought it was a cool deck, in good condition and I liked the joker and the fact it had a tax stamp on it.

Thanks for your help!

The Card description from ebay : Here is an ultra rare find. Two packs of Brown & Bigelow playing cards. These have the tax stamp and redi-slip seal on them Still new in the original plastic. Comes in a nice velvet box. Yellow on the back of cards and front of box.

Nice buy at $30. They look to me to be early 1950's advertising "Yellow" - maybe a trucking company?  Interesting Joker as not the normal Ready-slip. Maybe from the 1940's. Have you checked out the 52+Joker auction at

Some nice stuff to look at even if buying isn't for you right now.

  • Pick a card, any card...no, not THAT card!

I know I've seen that logo used before.  Yellow may be a freight company, possibly still in operation.

A ha!  Found them!  They're still operating, but under a new name and merged with other companies.
