There is something about the RAVN deck that I like.  Thanks for the review.  Good work.

Thanks for the review.  For some reason, I like the box better than the cards.  Nice work.  Just not my thing.  But, that could change.  HAHA.  Thanks again.

The Conversation Parlor / Comic Con and card designer crossover?
« on: April 04, 2017, 11:26:51 PM »
I'm interested to learn if there is any crossover between artists/designers etc. that are in the "Comic Con world" that also "dabble" in playing card design.  I'm new/back into card collecting and I feel the surge of new/current fantasy themes etc. along with the popularity of Kickstarter decks might mean that there are artists that do crossover.

Personally, I've never been to a "Comic Con" style event/weekend but I've seen where it appears that lots of artists are there.  What I would be interested in is going - if I knew there would be at least a few that have designed decks.  I'm sure there are others on here with more "insider knowledge" of this area.

Thanks.

Design & Development / Re: David Blaine Tour?
« on: April 04, 2017, 11:20:08 PM »
It seems to be touring to "smaller" theaters.  For example, here in Michigan he's going to be in Saginaw and Grand Rapids.  No stops the major-market of Detroit.  I wonder if that has to do with the show or what the promoters feel is the demand for tickets.

Great point.  You gotta do what magic suits you and YOUR style.  It can be great stuff, but just night right for your performing personality.

Just had a chance to look through this thread and its AMAZING.  Such great use of color.  Be sure to go with a quality printer so that your vision really does come through on the final product.  I would hope that this level of quality artwork and attention to detail would open this deck up to a wide audience.  Good luck with each step of the process.  Hope to hold the deck in my hands one day.

Thanks for your insight Don.

Having a bit of a background I understand about a magician being able to use one as a gaff card.  I only wish they were in a more "normal" back design to mix well into a routine.  Although, the bright color could add a great pop to a routine with a darker backed card (Ex. Bicycle w/ a black back.)

Does anyone know if Bicycle did reprint/fix these on a future print run or do ALL of the decks printed have a mis-printed 10D?

This looks great.  Love the idea of this type of project.  Best of luck as you finish everything.

Thanks Don.  Great insight.  Up till now, I've tried stores of varying sizes with no luck.  I'm sure they will show up soon.

Playing Card Plethora / Question Re: Bicycle Cyclist Neon Misprint
« on: April 03, 2017, 04:28:14 PM »
Question regarding the Bicycle Cyclist Neon Misprint...

Is there a way to tell if the deck contains the misprint without opening the deck?

Found one deck at a Walmart and haven't opened it yet.  Found another Walmart that has 6+ decks still hanging in the aisle.  I bought 2 of them.  Thinking of opening one of them to see if it contains the misprint.  Do you think that would be an indication that the others still at the store might contain the misprint?  Does it even matter?  Is there a market/desire out there for these decks?  Did they run a reprint/fix?

Also...
I did hear from "BicycleTeam" directly that..."there is no way to know if it is one of the decks you are referring to with out opening it."

Thanks.  New/getting back into playing cards.  Trying to learn as I go.

Where in the store did you find them?  Check a few stores in my area today.  Nothing.  Just a few red/blue regular Bicycles.  Did you find them by other cards or in a certain part of the store?

TY.

Checked a few 711 stores around the Metro-Detroit area today with no luck.  Just a few regular Bicycle Reds & Blues.

Question for anyone that has found them...
Where have you found them in the store?
Near the other cards?  A special place/section? etc.

THANKS.

Design & Development / David Blaine Tour?
« on: April 02, 2017, 04:38:56 PM »
I'm not sure where to post this.  What are the rumors/thoughts/ideas etc. as to if David Blaine is going to create/produce a unique deck related to his 2017 tour?  Just trying to start the topic.  Let the guessing begin....  Is anyone for SURE going to see him?  What are thoughts on the VIP packages available?  His Web site says "...one deck of playing cards signed by David Blaine..." is part of the VIP experience.

How is the sorting of the Jokers going?  I'm new to collecting and would love the challenge of sorting through/dating Jokers.  Have you sold any?

My understanding (from reading) is that they have done away with the Black Card membership.  Perhaps someone with better "insider" knowledge will be able to help more.

Introduce Yourself / Greetings from the Great Lakes....
« on: April 02, 2017, 02:42:23 PM »
HI,

I'm brand-new to this forum and wanted to say HI.  I have cards in my hands and been trying to do card tricks since my age was in the single "pips."  I've always been a fan of the good ol' "Bicycle Reds."  I have a small collecting of "older" (40s/50s) decks that I got from a magic dealer years ago.  Other than that, I'm entering the hobby and trying to find my way.  I'm open to learning and growing in my understanding of the hobby and playing cards in general.    Excited to get involved.

TY.
